Carolina had no chance in hell in winning that series, they were just way too overmatched. With the avs in 2002, if I wad you I would just keep bringin up 7-0 to your bro who's an avs fan lol. I remember these days of back to back cups in the 90's. Anywhere you'd go around the Detroit area, people would have the flags in their windows to represent the Wings, really brought the D and surrounding areas together.

I watch this and it brings tear to my eyes. I am English and remember watching the game back in the U.K. in the early hours. The following summer, I was in Dearborn with Ford and bought a "Wings Win" panoramic photopgraph of Hockeytown. Wherever I have lived, it takes pride of place in my home and I look at it every day. The Redwings are a wonderful team who will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish them the very best of luck against the Coyotes in game 5 and beyond. Best Wishes

i was at this game, 9 years old at the time. We had glass seats for this game, and saw the McCarty goal happen right in front of me, and made the front page of the newspaper the next day that read "FINALLY", with McCarty skating by us as he celebrated his goal!! Best part of this story is that i am from MN and was only in MI with my family for my cousins graduation party, and my uncle was nice enough to let my dad and myself go to this game with his tickets!!!

97 will always be the best. just because of how long it took and who we had to go through to get it....to beat colorado...on home ice..after what they did the year before... the reg season confrontation with colorado....97 was by far the best one.

i think if we could somehow make it back next year, and face pittsburgh, and beat there sorry asses in a game 7 IN PITTSBURGH..that would move up to a 2 way tie for the most special..the whole city of pittsburgh jsut thinks they have the greatest team in the entire world and they are hot s hit...i cant stand it. weve won consistently and have been good for so long, the last time they won they sucked for like 16 years straight. i dont knwo where they get off thinking they are better.

Yeah that would definately be up there for me & I can definately see it happening. Only I think if it does it would happen in less then 7 but The WIngs will be pretty motivated next season and i can see it happening quite easily. And I hate how Pens fans think that they are so great cause they won their 3rd cup in franchise history and what is completely rediculous is that many of them are now saying that they are now a dynasty. I mean the series went to seven games and they only won by 1 goal.

Very true. The Penguins got quite lucky in that series i would say. I mean you look at the shots on goal in the 3rd period of game 7. I think 5 or 6 of them hit the post and then you look at how close Lidstrom was in the final few seconds. So yup luck was definately with Pittsburg.

as soon as zetterbergh won the face offa nd it came back to rafalski i was like fuckign god they are going to do it... if lidstrom was already by fleury he would have got it in time.... i dont really mind that they won..i mean i do but..... i would have rather had boston or carolina win....just seeing crosby lift it up..heartbreaking.....most undeserving captain in nhl history. what a loser

Very true.I mean it was close & i can't really be disappointed with the way we lost i just wish they would have played that way the whole game cause if they did then there is no way that Pens had a chance. I think that Crosby is an ok hockey player just not the god he has so many people believing he is.I also think he is way to overrated.I don't believe he's the best player in the NHL.Yes he's good but not the best.I'm dissapointed we lost but proud at how far we came & with the injuries we had.

i think zetterberg is the best player in the nhl..not even being biast he could play for the ducks or avalanche id still think the same t hing. he plays 2 way hocky, plays on the penalty kill, can score, and hes a very nice guy to. never dives, never bitches. just does his job. he had crosby on lockdown the whole series last year and this year. hes the hardest worker out there he has to be out there every shift malkin and crosby are, which is alot.

I dont know i think its close with Zetterberg and Datsyuk. But the way Zetterberg can shut down players like Crosby and Malkin is unbelievable. I also agree that he can be great anywhere he plays but when he plays with Datsyuk on a line there is almost no stopping them. When asked who the best player in the NHL is most people would answer Crosby, Malkin, or Ovechkin but I'd take both Zetterberg or Datsyuk over them. Heck I'd take Franzen over them. They are great at all aspects of the game.

yeah...i know what you mean. ovie crosby malkin..they are all limelight players they love attention and are only "goal scorers" i love players like helm..god hes gonna be so sweet. superfast....and kronwall, just a beast.... i love the way detroit puts there team togetherer every single year, no one in particular is a superstar , just a bunch of guys that play great togheter, i was surprised by the hossa signing, and im sorry he didnt get to win..but im glad hes gone... now we can bring up helm

yeah Helmer was insane this year and was a huge part of the team. And Hossa made a wonderful Red Wings and I still think his best place to win the cup was here but we would have had to give up even more to keep him and yeah Helmer will do a lot for us next year. Ovie Crosby and Malkin are good players but i think if your thinking about te best in the world Pav and HAnk atleast deserve a mention and LIdstrom of course.

@CoreyPerrySucks Yeah It was special. I don't remember it too well cause I was only about 4 when they won but I do remember my brother being upset because he's an Av's fan and that was fun for me. The one I remember the most has to be 2002 just cause I was a lot older and the talent on the team was incredible. And I rember thinking every time Pavel tuched the puck just how good he could end up being. And the series with the Avs that year still gives me bregging rights with my brother today.
