I think that OnLive is the first step towards the future. Think about it. In the future the majority of people want a virtual reality where we enter into the game. In order for that we need to have AMAZING PC's or whatever it may be in the future. However, with this we would be able to have the core equipment at home (Matrix style table or if you have ever seen "Surrogates") While super computers can render everything elsewhere for a monthly/annual fee. Thumbs up for the FUTURAAAA! =D
It will become amazing the time game developers go beyond the limits of xbox or ps3 wich rule the graphics in the gaming industrie. Onlive will be able to provide video games that require 100 ghz for one game instead of "max dualcore games". Realism will be eneabled much faster then following the rules in moore's law. Real graphics, mmorpg and real life AI... that is what it is capable of. who cares about the release games. Thats because the compagnys have been limited. Support this system!
@googler69er im able to play onlive with a 1mb connection anyway. I always thought you would have to shit gold to be able to afford internet like that
onlive is some shit and so are their developers, have u seen nba 2k12 it looks horrible, onlive cant compete wit ps3 or xbox. They dont even have battlefield 3 or Mw3 i doubt they will even have darkness 2. They dont even run their games at ultra :(
@Michaelokupejr you FUCKING FANBOY!!! can you play ps3 or xbox or pc on a handheld android device? no! onlive can do it maybe it's not for when you are at home but yes for when you are out and want to entertain yourself. WHO SAID IT WOULD REPLACE CONSOLES OR PCs??? please don't argue but that's the truth want it or not
@wbyyo onlive was the ones who said it will replace console gaming and they even said their developers work on games dat why it take long for them to release games. All cause you like onlive dont mean i a fanboy its aight.
@Michaelokupejr i'm not saying i like onlive i say its developers aren't shit as you said and onlive IMO is great for when you aren't at home or you have an old computer of course it can't replace consoles (sorry for that fanboy comment :)) but for a mobile platform is awesome like it or not ¡I can play pc games on my phone! maye not at 60fps but yes at 45+ fps and that for me is really impressive
@WeCaptureTheFrag I agree, OnLive isn't a scam and they do not aim to scam their customers. However, you fail to understand and present the problems that come with this service. Such as: - Game Expiration (not playpass) - 5mb recommended connection - ISP speed throttling (traffic control) - No modding - Price tag (Better sales on Steam or for a hard copy) - No resale of old games - No access with no connection (e.g. ISP maintenance in your area) It goes on, OnLive isn't there yet.
@LE7HALFORCE It's for the same people who bought the Wii, those so astonished by the mere novelty that they forget that they probably already have the tech to replicate it.
i have to say this but im not planted by onlive im 14 ive had onlive on my pc since release i have no games and you are wrong i think onlive delivered what they say they delivered so FUCK YOU AND YOUR FUCKING BULLSHIT!
I play Borderland from around 3 months already, the lag is minimum and only when the weather is bad. Also I got Borderland for... just read... for 1$... a one fucking dollar - full game for one dollar. OnLive is just great.
@LE7HALFORCE The technology isn't new. It's existed since the beginning of the internet. I don't think OnLive is a service "for" gamers of any kind. I think it's a platform for the publishers to add yet another layer of control over our ability to do what we want with our games - that's what our species is about, you see.
Yes digital distribution is far from being mainstream but not many things start as automatically mainstream. I'm sure that steam and onlive can really pull cloud gaming to mainstream. Physical gaming will just come out with things that cloud can't do.
I'm pretty sure it is geared towards everyone, which is why the CEO believes it will take over.
And yes I know they were preferences, thats why I said people who prefer(sorry if this comes off of offensive, not being mean)
Not really ground breaking but it is pushing forward. I like disc based gaming better, but onlive is really for anyone. Its like saying why did Microsoft make the xbox when there was already playstations and nintendo.
Anyways its really for anyone just that there will be people who will prefer this over other things. People who don't like clutter from games, People who usually get scratched discs, someone who'd rather have cloud storage ect ect.
For something that gives games for much cheaper than retail... Oh yeah its a scam. $100 for a console that you don't even need to buy and then pay cheaper for a game that costs $60 in stores. Shit this scam got me fooled. Oh BTW since the games are running off of a PC you get graphics a PS3 and Xbox can't handle. If Crysis 2 or Battlefield 3 was on here I would be set.
@WeCaptureTheFrag onlive is great as long as it isn't a competative shooter title. The issue is with input lag, that is all. This issue will not effect most games, although i can understand how some titles will not fair as good.
oh and another thing, if this is the future of gaming then il be damned, another crash on gaming industry will happen thanks to onlive, cloud, and apple for cheap ass games
oh and another thing, if this is the future of gaming then il be damned, another crash on gaming industry will happen thanks to onlive, cloud, and apple for cheap ass games
i use onlive personaly for testing games demos and such, so i can really buy the games that i really want on console..but to replace an actual console to onlive for gaming?hell nooo
I think that corporate companies, like EA or Activision, need to get on board, and then we won't have to worry about buying expensive rigs, and can enjoy games like : Battlefield, Call of Duty, Need for Speed, Madden, Burnout, SSX, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and if ORIGIN and OnLive were linked, it would be great, it would get people motivated, that still want to play PC games, without the Hundreds of dollars to invest in hardware.
Online has one fatal flaw that i can not over look. The need to have an always on connection to play games. I am sure it works great when everything is firing on all cylinders. Throw a wrench into the weak link here, the need for an always on connection, (thank you Ubisoft for my frustration with Mass Effect) and). and suddenly you can't play. At least when PSN went down i could still play games on my PS3
I have onlive and got saints row the third for £1. They stopped that now but its awsome in line of games most are rubbish but there ps3.pc. And xbox games so three consoles in one. Plus the newer games being developed are being developed to cater onlive now. Plus its only been in uk for 3 months. I would like a hard copy aswell maybe an onlive system where u get the game as a disc with a code inside then u enter the code and get the game but if u wanted to play ofline u could and keep ur save.
I don't think it's a scam, I just in vision on live and gaming in general becoming like Comcast. Meaning like say 5 years from now, that $10 play pass, will be $49.99 per month, and what would you do about it? Nothing because they will still have all your content.
@sk8teitdude he was making fun of a DA kid that is tryin to convince ppl it was a scam... <.< I remember when i was a kid... we researched a lil on a topic b4 callin it a scam. But it is a great service if you like Digital copies of all your games.
Does this service have some flaws, yes (for instance I would like to see a monthy plan that allowed you to pick ten games a month to add to your playpack rather then them picking them for you... yes i would pay more for this) but keep in mind that this service is still in its infancy and is already recieving huge following and praises.
Onlive also has promotions all the time, last month they had a facebook contest where if they could get ten thousand likes in seven hours, then every onlive member got any game for just one dollar; and now, new customers will get their first game or month of playpack for just one dollar, thats 97% off retail. You also get 10% off of any game for the entire time you are signed up for playpack. Onlive is the future of gaming, just like the cloud is the future for the rest of computing.
@atlas9954 hey is that new members thing still going on? I ordered my onlive system yesterday but had an account for like a year and never used it on the pc or the system.so do they give u that offer when u start playing orrrrrr what? please reply
You do not have to pay to play, onlive is a free service and almost every one of their games give you the ability to play from the beginning for 30 min to test it out... if you like it, buy it, if not, then move on. Also, the pay by month service for onlive is only 10 USD a month and essentially lets you own all the games in the playpack for the entire time you are signed up for the service, you can also rent and buy other games that are not in the playpack, often times for less than retail.
Onlive isn't for me, i prefer to have a powerful computer, it may be ok for some people out there but seriously i see subscription services as black holes. You pump money in to them and they only delivery by the month, if you stop paying you stop playing. I'm not a cable or satalite fan i hate lan line phones i'm only needing an internet connection and a PC and i'm happy, i'll buy my games hard copy or though steam. I like the fact I can edit and tweak on my system to. I'm not a console gamer.
Onlive is the future of gaming end of storing. Its heavily backed by cloud computing. If you dont believe its the future just check back in 10 years and see if there are still console systems being made.
Youre just a Gay who dont knows how to play Onlive XD youre crying because you dont have money and youre family can't help you ( No offense but you suck )
You can give away free stuff if you are a company and get sponsored by a larger company because they like or except your product or want to use your product... I am no here because its a scam I am here because the quality... well to me isn't really that good... Visual or "graphics" if you know what i mean...
I like onlive. The only problem for me is that if you buy the game they delete the game after 3 years. I mean most people like to play there old games again if they changed that then Onlive would go a few steps into the right direction.
If Onlive was released by the big 3 as i call them,it would be being heralded as the best thing since sliced bread. If Onlive wanted to scam people they would charge 20 dollars a month to just sign up to their service.Behind the scenes i can imagine the big boys saying to each other how did they beat us to the punch.Onlive has pushed this tech out 2 years in advance of the big players, hats of to them.Notice how the talk is all about an Onlive rival now, some people in high places are hurtin big.
OnLive is a garbage way to buy games. It is a piece of shit compared to steam, When I buy a game I want to own the fucking game. It is a fucking amazing rental system tho, it is fuckin fantastic at that, but it does not appeal to PC gamers and their style whatsoever.
@336forlife its not a steam replacement idiot. its only for people who need it. i personally couldnt play play Just Cause 2 on my older laptop but with onlive i could play it. it cant be compared to steam, its nothing like it
@336forlife Taken from the valve license agreement: 'Valve hereby grants, and you accept, a limited, terminable, non-exclusive license and right to use the Software for your personal use in accordance with this Agreement and the Subscription Terms. The Software is licensed, not sold. Your license confers no title or ownership in the Software.'
buying one first game is gonna be fear 3 for the free game i am getting and then i am buying assassins creed 2 :) cannot wait to play onlive i shall have it hooked up to my gaming pc :P
Onlive is (or was) very unstable on WiFi.. And it sucks for people with a low-mid range Internet connection, and mostly if the Internet is shared.. otherwise it is great!
The catch that I found is that when you purchase a full game, they state that you get to keep it for as long as they support it on their servers. Once its off the servers, the service to that game is gone. Read it in their TOS. Which is why I am so skeptical about onlive Full Play Pass. Other than that its not a scam, its offers for what they claim.
Onlive is great, but it will take a while before it can surpass what the physical consoles can provide. Still its a perfect solution for others!
Dude, what the fuck were you smoking? Some of that legal shit? Or some pcp? I'm syked to know, I seriously want some of that shit. Cause the same guy, made the steam engine duuuuude....

Gamerspc 4 months ago

336forlife 6 months ago
@336forlife its not a steam replacement idiot. its only for people who need it. i personally couldnt play play Just Cause 2 on my older laptop but with onlive i could play it. it cant be compared to steam, its nothing like it
RedEggsCereal 5 months ago
@336forlife If you buy a game from steam you don't own it forever. If they decide to change there mind you can no longer play it.
astewardson 5 months ago
@astewardson Change their mind?! You purchased a game with your money, they cannot just take it from you.

Onlive is (or was) very unstable on WiFi.. And it sucks for people with a low-mid range Internet connection, and mostly if the Internet is shared.. otherwise it is great!
EmilxLollipop 7 months ago
It doesn't work for me, I click the play now button and nothing happens, nothing loads, nothing changes. Can anyone help?

how do you get 1 year free plz tell me as soon as possible
yugiohmaster1811 1 year ago
are u using online console or using it on pc
yugiohmaster1811 1 year ago
The catch that I found is that when you purchase a full game, they state that you get to keep it for as long as they support it on their servers. Once its off the servers, the service to that game is gone. Read it in their TOS. Which is why I am so skeptical about onlive Full Play Pass. Other than that its not a scam, its offers for what they claim.
Onlive is great, but it will take a while before it can surpass what the physical consoles can provide. Still its a perfect solution for others!
