This song is really, really a reflection of Ed's style in the beginning. Hard, crunchy, biting lyrics, style, cool......and a GROVE. Always a GROOVE. Also.... BEWARE!! Dont listen to this clip unless you are prepared to have this thing buzzing around inside your head for weeks. This is STILL cool.
What album is this one on? - where do I get this song? - it sounds really gritty - not much like his subsequent stuff - but I love it! please tell me... this is real..
Funny you should mention "Maybe I'm a Fool"....all I can say is that if you were in high school in the late seventies, as I was, and in love with a beautiful blond who went to different school and you went to watch their football games just to see her cheer on the sidelines, "Maybe I'm a Fool" could make you cry on a regular basis. Ditto "Love the Way You Love Me" and "Maureen". Maryann Ure of Costa Mesa, Ca., you were that girl. "Life for the Taking" is great album.
Back in the 70's, there was a stir on news broadcasts about an ex NYPD officer that wore eyeliner and sang about shooting himself or slitting his wrists. Of course, it was taken out of context. The song is about bad habits and putting off change and mortality. But back then, people were incredulous. In his day, Eddie Money was radical. Some up and coming artist could make some noise by covering this tune, IMHO.
Does anyone remember the commercial on TV with Eddie promoting Life For The Taking? It was a pretty hip lil' spot with "Maybe I'm a Fool" playing in the background. I'd really like to see that one again.
i saw them in Vets Memorial - Columbus Ohio 1978 open up for Styx and RobinTrower + when Eddie got done he said "You'll be hearing from us real soon"
that was the best concert Id ever seen until Rush 1984 they blew all of em away = that's the last band i needed to see
