I was wondering why the Arch-viles' flames were not burning the marine. Then, I think that they summon the two pillars of flames. I am not sure that the first one does, but the second wave of flames triggers an explosion that can SEVERELY injure the doom player. By breaking the concentration or by breaking the line of sight,the marine stops the Arch-viles from treating him like a well-done steak.

@HunterTiger2100 The flame on the screen is just a visual cue that you're going to take a ridiculous amount of damage if you don't spot the archvile and break it's line of sight. If you walk between it and another enemy it will burn the enemy and cause an infight. Good strategy to begin with, but when they start resurrecting them later on it turns deadly ;P

Depends on your equipment and environment. One Arch-Vile against a player with only a Shotgun or Chaingun and no cover? Firmly in the Arch-Vile's favour. Hell, even a SSG can barely change things thanks to the AV's absurd pain tolerance.

The team that created this pack did an awesome job. I always felt that Final Doom was a great addition. It was Doom 2.5.

I would hate to play this with the Psychophobia content mod. Can you imagine how may of those would be Diablosts? A Diablost is a red archvile with 3 different fire variations, with no pause between his animations and his attack, his spread fire is INSANELY painful and almost impossible to avoid.

@awkookrenewed It goes like this: The arch viles attack takes about 3 seconds to actually finish and kick your ass. the lead up to the ass kicking is the fire he creates on you. if you get out of his line of sight before the attack finishes, you take no damage and can continue to kick his ass.

AS long as you got a Super Shotgun, the Archviles arent a threat. The person also isnt cheating as God would show him with the yellow eyes. He is just taking advantage of their attack style to kill them.

That there's some good maneuvering to get out of sight and go back in immediately after the vile has casted its spell. Often times, it's not the first part that kills me (getting out of sight), but the second part, with me returning too quickly.

SSG as great as it is, only hurts archie in 50% of the cases.

Usually those Archviles at the end are flagged to not count towards the maps final kill count, it depends on the sourceport you use.
