Craig carries himself well. I don't know what I'm going to do when I lose my mom. I haven't seen her in 8 years, but we talk on the phone once in a while.
Craig is the only Talk Show Late night guy to ever be so tender and loving, to do an entire show about some who passed, that they loved. The only Other I can remember is The Great Johnny Carson, when in the space of three day lost His Son and then his Friend Michael Landon. Carson didn't an entire show either but he did take a few minutes to speak about his grief.
I am watching this again..I have been through hell the past 6 months. 3 suicide attempts...and the one thing that keeps me going is this Scottish voice. One night I was about to unplug my ventilator...this voice stopped me in my tracks.
@computerwheelie Chin up, buddy, I have no clue what you're facing, and I won't pretend to, and I won't go on telling you how life is worth living and it'll all be better tomorrow and all of that when I o=know nothing of what you're going through.
But I will say I hope you make it through whatever you're facing, that you can will yourself through...and if you're alone, or you feel alone, you can at least know this:
Members of Craig's Robot Skeleton Army are NEVER alone!
@computerwheelie Hey, just don't.....no rhyme or reason. Just ....don't. There are a lot of other unappreciated voices out there.....just keep searching for them....some exist exclusively for you.....no bullshit................. : )
@computerwheelie I came back to this clip today to find strength from Craig, and found your comment. My god, you are missed so much Annette. I don't know how or why you are gone, but there is always a reason for days like these. You will always be a member of the RSA, love from people the world over, including Craig and Randy. Bless you, miss you. RIP <3
That was read at my grandmothers feuneral. The worst day of my life, as my grandmother was my mother. When the bag pipes were played walking out of the church in Queens, NY, the tears were un stopable. Rest in peace Joan T Stanton, and Netta Ferguson.
Thanks for sharing RoQu3to. Craig is bloody brilliant ... and it's thanks to you that folks like me, outside the US, get a chance to see this. So cheers xx
She is just as large in mast and spar and hull as ever she was when she left my side; just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
I am standing upon that foreshore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails in the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says, "There! She's gone!" "Gone where?" "Gone from my sight, that's all."
This was a great show. Craig is the best! He is so really. Very refreshing in this day and age. And Sublime did a great version of Rivers of Babylon Btw.
I get the impression that 50 years from now, Craig Ferguson will have a legendary status. In an entertainment industry that is so fake and artificial, he is certainly a breath of fresh air. Plus he is far and away the most talented person on late night TV. He might have to cut down on the swearing to have a wider appeal though (that would be bad).
... Then someone at my side says There, shes gone Gone where? Gone from my sight, thats all. She is just as large in mast and spar and hull as ever she was when she left my side; just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. hell i'm drunk & nearly cried, i find it amazing that poeple can go on when emotions run high, i've watched people die, but you just go on. haven't buried my parents yet, & i sure as hell don't look forward to it. you craig, a rock, you have given US much relief with your whit, I'll share in your sorrow. thank you
My father actually died three days after Christmas a little over eight years ago. And my mom died a year and a half later. So I know what he went through. Even worse for me cuz I was only 10 and 12 when both of them happened.
But major kudos to Craig on going through the notions for both shows after his parents died. A great moment in TV.
wow thats wow i think we all wish we could eulogize the people we love like that like craig does this is just the type of thing that touches your heart when someone leves their comfort zone to pay tribute to a family member
I am so sorry for your loss Craig. I to remember sitting in St Mungo's singing that hymm at Christmas time . It is a very drafty church indeed I was there in August and was still cold. Take Care
As a fellow Scot who also emigrated away from the Auld Country and miss it like an open wound, let me just say how much Craig's
eulogies of his father & mother move me,the hardened Scot, to have my eyes leak and my nose to run. I too, have reached an age where I know that the next call from Scotland could be the "dreaded one". But time is growing short, and soon,I too will have to go through the pain that Craig is going through now.
If there was, by any glimpse of a chance, a way for me (or any of us out there) to return the favor and relieve him of his pain, i only wish it be done, as deserved. this man DESERVES to realise how much his public loves him; cares for him; understands him.
i, for one, am more than appreciative of his parents to bestow on us such a wonderful soul.
Rest in peace, both of you. Janet, give your late husband ''the news''. show him how his son is loved. look down on him and -Be Proud-, as you said..
Craig has profoundly touched me with his eulogy of his father, but this one really took a toll on me. the standing frame of him looking at his mother is nothing less of a beautiful thing. I dare anyone to find any celebrity who manages to involve their (not as much as craig's) adored public into their personal lives, in such a meaningful, profound, honest way with such dignity. This man is a gift to us when we seek joy in dark times.
So many of us have had difficult times in which we've found ourselves turning to Craig's wonderful sense of humour to make us feel a bit better, and feel as if we can go on again. My only wish is that somehow we would be able to return the favor to him. But, I'll have to settle for just saying thank you, Janet Ferguson. You have bettered the lives of many, and I hope you are somewhere right now smiling down on Craig in his time of sorrow.
i loved craig before this, and after this...i just have this tremendous respect for the guy. someone who can do this after his mother has just died, is just something short of amazing. i wish craig and his family all the best. and R.I.P Janet.
Craig, I am sooo sorry to hear that. It must be hard having something like that happening so far away....believe me my parents are also in Europe and I can imagine how it feels like....but thank you for sharing this with us....
Thanks for sharing your lovely Mother with us. She is classy, beautiful & clearly a shining star of Scotland. It's a rare relationship you have with your viewers & we appreciate it as your fans. Beautiful prose by Victor Hugo and beautifully horrible song in that odd version of "By the Rivers of Babylon."
All for a BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING woman, Mrs. Ferguson...wow, she sounds just incredible, and if Craig is any indication, she most surely was.
I don't like this song...but I felt like clapping along, nevertheless...just for her--and I enver even MET her.
Just beautiful, no other host could do this, and of course it all starts with who raises you--so thank you, for that, Madame. :)
