I fought in the Nam. I was enlisted in the Marines as an 18 year old boy. Over the course of my tour I saw things that I see every day to this day in my sleep. I lost my best friends, my platoon was overrun by an NVA reg. and I lost 12 guys that night. Folks we shoulda never been there it was so fucked up. This video brings back a lot of memories.

I am a veteren of Korea and Vietnam. My son showed me this and I was surprised. We fought for what we wanted, not for what poloticians wanted. War is wrong but the men fighting in it on both sides aren't. they gave there life for what they thought was right. Young people talk about the horrors of war without being in it. VietCong forces killed as many if not more civilians by handing grenades to their kids or strapping them with explosives and telling them to get near a u.s. soldier, many vietnamese civilians were also killed this way. I'm not excusing the Mei Lai Massacre by the Americans or any other civilians deaths caused by Americans, but don't think any less of one side when both are guilty.

The NVA and Viet Cong were dedicated soldiers fighting for their country. In my opinion,the American soldiers who fought in Vietnam were some of the bravest and best to ever wear a US uniform. They never get the respect that soldiers of other wars have. They fought in a place that was a living hell..jungles,swamps,rice paddies,cities..you name it..Vietnam had it. Both sides had great warriors. While I oppose the war(and the current one),I support the soldiers.

And US didn't start the war, it was French colonialism, they got kicked out and UN Seperated the two, not the US. The US government was trying to keep Vietnam from goin completely red, and was willing to sacrifice 50k American people to do that. The main difference with this war is it had no clear acheivable objective, which is why, thankfully, we pulled out.

Ask any surviving U.S. soldier from WWII and they are proud to have been fighting. Different wars, one was for a good reason. As for Irq, it's similar to another Vietnam.

I fought in the Nam. I was enlisted in the Marines as an 18 year old boy. Over the course of my tour I saw things that I see every day to this day in my sleep. I lost my best friends, my platoon was overrun by an NVA reg. and I lost 12 guys that night. Folks we shoulda never been there it was so fucked up. This video brings back a lot of memories.

North Vietnam was on the verge of surrendering after Tet but they knew that if they could hold on the US would pull out because of the protesters at home. The protesters in the US caused the troops to be withdrawn not the VC and NVA. After Tet there was almost no VC left and the NVA had been hit so hard they were crying.
