Rejoice in comfort of the Gospel! I think you've misunderstand infant baptism. Yes, salvation only comes from having faith in the promise of the Gospel. However, faith comes through baptism!--we are given the Holy Spirit which enables us to have faith in the Gospel (see Col. 2:8-15 & 1 Peter 3:21-22). God works through baptism to bring us to faith. The words, not the plain water, give baptism this saving power. (It always reminds me of Namaan--yes, God uses simple means to do great things.)
@Truthisbeautiful1: But what troubles me more: OUR SALVATION DOES NOT DEPEND ON US. It doesn't depend on how well we understand the Gospel (faith like a child, right?)--faith is a passive clinging to God's promises! GOD gets ALL THE CREDIT for our certainty of salvation! THANKS BE TO GOD! Yes, we should always realize we are guilty sinners in danger of becoming complacent and losing our faith. But more so, we should realize WE ARE FORGIVEN AND CERTAIN OF OUR SALVATION THROUGH CHRIST! Amen.
@NakitaBenjaminTV Sry but it is better for people to attend a church, the church Christ established(as the bible asks), search and you will find it. Here is a hint it must be able to trace it's roots to Christ and there are only two churches that can do this so that narrows it down.
@NakitaBenjaminTV What's ironic is that non-denominational churches are still a form of a denomination. I do believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church. My church is not "the truth". My church "proclaims the truth" that though we are all sinners, Christ died for us so that we may have forgiveness and eternal life.
@NakitaBenjaminTV God's already shown me the truth. I once would have agreed with this video. Someone contradicted what I believed. I searched scripture, read verses IN CONTEXT, and God opened my eyes. I watched this video (and others) to see other perspectives on baptism because I genuinely want to believe what is true. My beliefs have changed on a number of doctrinal points over the years. I've always depending on understanding the Bible in context and prayer.
@Benja1976 I will openly admit I disagree with her interpretation of scripture. However, the main point of my commenting here was that she is misrepresenting what Lutherans believe. I have a hard time taking her interpretation of scripture seriously when she has her facts about Lutherans wrong. Also your'e right on with some of the verses you posted, but others are out of context. Finally, you said "Saved before baptism. YES" but listed no verse. Kind of contradicts "baptism saves. yes"
@NakitaBenjaminTV Sorry, what you believe about baptism is not taught in scripture. Also, the Bible clearly says that none are righteous. The age of accountability is not found anywhere in scripture. Your belief that babies are born automatically saved is heresy. If it were true, we would be doing babies a service by allowing abortion. God may save infants, but we don't know because the Bible doesn't say. Search & study scripture, pray, and repent of your false belief. Christ died for you.
@NakitaBenjaminTV Yes...i'm noticing you're not reading what I'm actually saying. 1) I'm not talking about Catholicmism. 2) My point was that scripture does NOT say to NOT baptize babies. God includes children in all of his promises. Why would you want to exclude children from God's family? 3) I tried to make a point when I spoke of what God does to us in baptism. Since God is doing the work, age doesn't matter. Baptism is not our work and is not something that WE do. It is from God.
@Benja1976 I believe what I believe about baptism because I opened a good translation (ESV) of a computerized Bible. I started with a word search for "Bapti" so I could find all references of baptize, baptism, baptized... Then I read every passage in context to understand what it was saying, who was being spoken to, etc. Context is key. I did cross reference searches, studied, & prayed. I once thought baptism was a public profession of faith. God used scripture to change my belief.
@NakitaBenjaminTV Also in scripture (back to infants) Jesus said bring the children to him. The greek word used for children in that verse includes babies. Jesus also said that His promises were for us and for our children. Children in scripture are included in God's promises. Children were part of God's covenant with Abraham. Nowhere in scripture does God say, "...this isn't for your kids." We are saved by grace through faith...and God can even give the gift of faith to an infant.
@NakitaBenjaminTV So infant baptism aside... According to the Bible, in baptism: we are buried with Christ, we are raised with Christ, our hearts are circumcised into Christ (physical circumcision was how people were once brought into the covenant), we are clothed with Christ. Scripture talks of the washing of regeneration. The Bible also says, "Baptism now saves you."
@NakitaBenjaminTV You're not accurate on your facts though. I don't know about what Catholics believe. In at least LCMS churches, the SPONSORS are witness to the baptism. They then are responsible for helping to raise the child in the faith. They are not "gods".
@NakitaBenjaminTV But I wasn't an infant when I was baptized. What do you believe is the purpose of baptism? What does God do in baptism? Why are we baptized? I'm curious what you believe that "God told you". I will say, I spent a lot of time reading the Bible and praying about baptism. God revealed the truth to me through scripture and not through a personal experience. So now I take the Bible very literally. I believe in the works that God does to us through his work of Baptism.
@NakitaBenjaminTV Why would I want to be baptized again? My first one doesn't count? And since you're claiming authority to judge me...how old was I when I was first baptized? What type of church was I when baptized? :)
@NakitaBenjaminTV ...and the answers: I was an older child in a Nazarene church. I was baptized after walking up to the front of the church and reciting the sinner's prayer. At the time, I thought baptism was a public profession of faith. When I was older, in my early 20s, I was rebaptized in a Pentecostal church because I thought I didn't understand what I was doing the first time.
It seems like you don't really understand what Lutherans believe. It might be helpful for you to first take a look at WHY Lutherans believe what they believe regarding Baptism before attacking.
As long as we're throwing scripture around... "For a woman I permit not to teach or have authority over a man, but to be in stillness." -1 Timothy 2:12

I agree, infant baptism is the great deception system. And is described in Revelation 13.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. (Acts 2:41).
There is no Biblical "evidence" for infant buttism (infant baptism), sarcasm intended.

@wcbpolish I have to agree with wcbpolish on this point -- posting an opinion video to YouTube isn't the same as, for example, being a pastor.
