@PencilOverPen I dont think it has a cure. Some things are just perminent for some people... its puberty, i dont think you can change it. But i sure do wish there was a cure. -_-

You can swim with pads in the pool, only if it has colorine or another chemical inside the water that is. I use pads and went in the pool and no blood was shown, nor was the pad swollen, just wet.
Pssshhhhh!!! That thing about weighing 100 pounds before you start your period is nonsense. I've had my period for over a year now and I weigh 97 pounds. But, they did said "usually" girls are a 100 pounds before they start their periods. So I guess that makes since.
The tampon thing at the end about swimmimg isnt always true.Im on the swim team but have never used a tampon.what i found are these pads that dont have that cotton filling that sweels up in the water.so i wear those when i go swimmimg.
Pads are better for when you first have it.... trust me. The best thing to have is a heating pad, it really helps with the cramps. Some women get cramps in the lower back some right under belly button. Trust me you will know the difference between a tummy ache or cramps. Ibprofen does work it reduces swelling and take cares of cramping , headaches , etc. I don't think weight has anything to do with it unless you are seriously underweight. People dont be scared! The Period is normal. If your shy about then dont talk about it so your coforable. If you want to prepare for the period look out for ; bigger boobs, cramps, growing hair in CERTAIN places, getting a white or brown stain in underwear, and cravings. Hope this was helpful

@missalyssa2000 I got mine last year and didn't tell anybody! The only way my mom knew was 'cause I used her Tampons and that's how she knew. I refused to talk to her about it so I was very closed mouthed about it. Maybe if you use your mom's/sisters Tampons, Pads etc. when you get your period so then they will know! You should talk to someone who your close with (a friend who has started, mom, sister etc.) Good Luck! I will be 13 this April!

@longandloveless its hard to tell the diff for me between cramps and tummy aches. the way i tell apart is when it feels more like a knot in your lower stomache, its a cramp, but that is just me.

I get cramps about 1 week before my period. Im sure its not too bad compared to some people but all i always want to do is sit in a fetal position and wait it out or fall asleep. I ended in the mall twice with the cramps which is pretty darn bad since you have to walk around the whole mall. Other than that my period is pretty ok but i think i get a bit more moody. Advice for first timers? If you get the cramps bring yours legs up to your chest and stay that way.

It helps if there is "spotting" if you put some toilet paper in your well underwear. Yes its kind of gross but no one will notice and it's temporary.

I'm 11, and I started puberty when I was eight :/ I'm so confused why I haven't had my period! My acne has gotten worse, I get cramps, tired, moody, and I've had discharge for more than two years. :(((( I started wearing an A cup bra when I was only 9!!!!!!! @Toon999kinzpengwo Ask your mom when she got her period. My mom got her period when she was 13 and I got mine when I was 12. So basically you'll get your period the same age your mom got hers. You are not alone. I started puberty when I was 9. And I also wore an A cup bra when I was 9.

Hey ladies! @penguinhollywood i know what your feeling. i got mine at ten :( . start wearing panty liners if you haven't started already. once you get it switch to the maxi pads ASAP!! once it is over you go back to wearing panty liners :) it then becomes an everyday thing ( wearing the panty liners, not your period) i wouldn't start with tanpons until your in 8th grade or high school... any more questions wite me back ASAP! i would LOVE to answer ANY qustions :)

@longandloveless its hard to tell the diff for me between cramps and tummy aches. the way i tell apart is when it feels more like a knot in your lower stomache, its a cramp, but that is just me.

I get cramps about 1 week before my period. Im sure its not too bad compared to some people but all i always want to do is sit in a fetal position and wait it out or fall asleep. I ended in the mall twice with the cramps which is pretty darn bad since you have to walk around the whole mall. Other than that my period is pretty ok but i think i get a bit more moody. Advice for first timers? If you get the cramps bring yours legs up to your chest and stay that way.
