I have the same Maestro Fuzz-tone (3 knob, silver circle)...do you notice a volume drop when you switch it on from the clean tone? Trying to figure out if mine should be louder or if thats the way it is.
@PowerfulNoise Sorry no idea, maybe used. There are different models, reissues etc. and not sure about the prices either. I'd look ebay. My friend used to have one in a smaller box and it sounded much like the one on this clip before he uses the switch.
@SidHenderson thanks man... well, i think i'm gonna get an electro harmonix big muff. it's hard to get an used pedal or a rare pedal because i live in brazil and a have a friend that is going to bring me the pedal from the US, and he doesn't have time to look for this things :/
@PowerfulNoise No problem, it's a bit same here in Finland, rare pedals are hard to find and buying via ebay there's always the postage fees, taxes etc. so it gets expensive. Big Muff is a classic though, I don't think you'll be disappointed :D
@PedalPersonOhYeah What do you think the green pedal in the upper right corner is? 3.50 you've got your Russian Big Muff, definitively better than the US version
@STOMPBOXSONIC2009 Their is one problem. If you don't have true by pass for each pedal. You will loose quality from pedal to pedal. Therefore many pedals back to back will lose a lot of tone quality.
It's all really up to individual taste so I like the Chicago Iron pedal best. Which is unfortunately probably one of the most pricey pedals in there. I guess a nice, trashy fuzz tone doesn't come cheap.
Great job, man. This is how pedal shootouts are meant to be done. The cables could be a bit better, though. The Brown Dog, Octavian Plus, ICBM and Fuzz God sound killer.
@William102582 When you get that many fuzz pedals that span the decades all hooked up there's bound to be some signal degradation. But the potential of each of these fuzz pedals still shines through.
I was looking for the power brick/one spot and then palmfaced, how do you get that many 9-volts at any given time? I mean that's like that cost of a new fuzz pedal itself xD jk
so many awesome fuzzes. . . one thing though: shouldn't you have all your fuzz face type circuits at the beginning of the chain? I've read that if they're behind any buffered bypass they don't sound quite as nice since they kind of work with your pickup impedance.
@JacoThe2nd Exactly what I was thinking! The bypassed signal didn't sound to bad but it could have been better I'm sure its due to signal lose but won't swear to it.
Forgot to add to that list the MXR, it sounds sweet too, but I think on further listens I narrow it to eihter the sovtek big muff or the euthymia being the best. In fact the euthymia sounds to me similar to a big muff, but smoother.
@rohaihuparaguay Once at a recording session our producer let me use his 80's op-amp Big Muff for some overdubs. Here was a Big Muff that had everything one could love about a Big Muff yet was strangely different but no less awesome. I never was able to find one of my own until I came upon the ICBM. It nailed "that" sound.
@STOMPBOXSONIC2009 Yeah that ICBM sounds so good it is not even fair. See what you have done, got me some gear acquisition syndrome, my wife won' t be happy when I come home with yet another toy. I'll blame it on this video.
Wow, fuzz heaven here. The ones that sounded best to me were the Euthymia ICBM, the red witch, the hood barge, the rat, the sovtek big muff, fuzzface and fist setting on the octavian. Of these, I think for me it is really a three way race to the top between the euthymia, sovtek big muff and the red witch, I can't decide between those 3. Then I absolutely HATED the guyatone, and the zvex sounded quite bad to be too, which was surprising.
Someone is finally getting it right. Best fuzz demo in the fashion it was meant 2 be. Your technique of all together with same gear is perfect to me. Some of these guys start out with amps half distorted already. Pointless to me, later in the demo is one thing, but not to start out and get the general character of the pedal, as you astutely stated! Thanks a million.
Guyatone should change the name to "Horrid Fuzz".

I like how the Z.Vex is the smallest yet has the most knobs!
Proves how much some manufacturers think about pedal board space and sonic versatility
