i have 2 dogs a dachsi and a terrier my husky had to be put down last october... im interested in these dogs but are they really that much of a hassle? i have a medium sized yard beside a field and a large house, any other basenji owners here who know alot about the dog?

OMG! They are the cutest things! Lol i once had a lab and he came up the stairs but he couldn't come down and it was so cute and funny because when i came down the stairs he would follow me and he would just slide down the stairs

Are Basenji's really that hard to train? I just bought a seven week old basenjin puppy and I love him to bits. But its so hard to keep his attention on one thing for more then two seconds. He loves my attention but only when he thinks its fun...or if he thinks I am ignoring him.

@MARKYPERTH Yes. Basenjis are really really hard to train. I trained both of mine really well to do all the basics and some show tricks (shake, stand, pray, lie down, roll over, etc) with food treats. Food is the key. XD Unfortunately I find that once the food gets less and less common as a reward they're less and less keen to perform. -sigh- lol Just keep the food coming and you'll keep his attention. :P
