Some words in the bible are not to be taken so literally. When god says thou shall not "kill", by kill he means murder. That is a more reasonable conclusion to believe it means murder, instead of kill because obviously, even God himself sent men to war. Therefore, it's reasonable to conclude that you have to look at the bible in context.

in the old testament God had to pick a certain people to bring about Jesus Christ for salvation. God choose the Jewish people for this. Now the old testament is reffed to as "the old covenant" God had to have the Jewish people obey thoses rules so He could bring Jesus. When Jesus came this created "the new covenant" we no longer live by the old covenants rules anymore. Hope that helps

I was brought up Christian and never even thought to question whether or not what the Bible said was true until the last couple years. So for 22 years, I believed hole heartedly in the Bible. You can't really chose to believe something is true. Facts have to be presented and then you assess them. I still have yet to see any empirical evidence that suggests God exists.
