and still the dutch with their lack on modern weaponry managed to destroy 450 planes and beat back german para s allover holland and held the grebbeberg line long enough to delay 21 ss panzerdivision not bad for somediggers with ww1 rifles dont you agree?

@sm0keshell The Dutch Army was under-equipped, but a joke? no! The original plans of the Germans were to conquer the Netherlands within 24 hours.. they failed greatly in that goal, and after the Battle of Dordrecht the Germans were put to a halt at all fronts; Rotterdam, Grebbelinie and The Enclosuredike. Blueshift mentioned 450 German planes being destroyed, I want to add, this loss is one the German Luftwaffe never recovered from, Not the RAF but the Dutch crippled the Luftwaffe!!

@Sanderos25 one more thing to add... those paratroopers landed before any declaration of war... in fact The Netherlands had to declare war on Germany... even more; a week or so before the war began, Hitler himself was in The Netherlands ensuring the Dutch Queen that The Netherlands would remain neutral .The Netherlands was also the only friend Germany had ever since WW1. the relations were so good the German ambassador cried in front of the parliament to apologize for the invasion

As you can see on the helmets there was a dutch emblem on them. They were removed from the helmets because the bullet went trough way too easily.

@10414 There are a few ocassions where the emblem was removed due to the story that the bullet went trough more easy and the shining of the emblem, however in reality the bullet story is not real.
