Some kids don't cooperate even with there parents right there telling them what to do. As a x-ray tech I've seen this countless times. You just have to hold them down firmly and take the x-ray as fast as possible. Fighting and pleading with them for 5 minutes just makes them upset for that extra 5 minutes. Just do it quikly and you'll cause alot less anxiety to the child and the parent. I don't like it either. But it's like a drivers license, got to do what they say to be able to drive.

You voluntarily agree to such when you CHOOSE to fly on an aircraft. If you don't want to be subjected to this, the bloody obvious solution is to choose another means of transportation. Drive a car, take a cruise ship, hire a private plane, or whatever.

And regardless of TSA guidelines, NO child should ever be patted down unless they are okay with it and the parents as well. Sadly enough, criminals and terrorists are smart and cynical enough to hide bombs on kids if they really want to do some damage, so searching kids isn't unreasonable. Parental consent defeats the purpose entirely since people trying to sneak things through on kids will obviously say no. The training regiment for handling children could use an upgrade, but you don't make exceptions for security.

this is horrible, and the father just recording this with his cell phone, really? really? the bottom line is that it is the airport's responsibility to provide security, not the federal government. the tsa's biggest problem is that they are not allowed to profile and thats why that have to have almost everyone go through the body scanner or a pat down. And both here are unconstitutional. You should NEVER have to sacrifice your rights or liberty for security.
