all these kids riding 7.75 still because they say they can do their "street" tricks better.. these were all size 8.75-9.5 decks during this period and look at all the tech that's being thrown down? any more excuses?
I learned how to ollie the year this came out. I can't believe I didn't see this part till 2011 cause this dude's trick selection and style are so sick! I'm gonna watch this before I go skating to get inspired.
insane stuff, incredible ender, but yeah those are. sketchy ass regular flatground kickflips, even for '92. just look at how Jeremy Klein, Henry Sanchez or Jason Lee was popping and flicking back then
Versatility like this just don't exist anymore. It's more like backsmith a handrail and crailslide a bowl. Not backnoseblunt reverts on vert and groundbreaking techstuff on street like Alf.
I met him in once ca 1998 and he was supercool. I gave him cred for making a bs 5050 on a flatledge in the demo look like the best trick in the world.
i dressed like this, everyone pretty much did we cut our shoes and our 40 waist pants and our cutoffs flew threw the air while we skated by the jocks it was what set us apart from the sheep
@aztr0zombie yeah what about the "fuct" brand shorts that were all big and long and cool colors, Blind pants cut of short on purpose, so rad! Anyway the hip hop kids wearing cross colors started cutting there pants so we stopped..funny right
I owned this video back in the day, 93 actaully. I thought Alf's style was some of the smoothest. Not only that, my boy was killin it on vert too. Ugly flips? It was 93 everyone had ugly flips; remember this was filmed in 91 or 92. It wasn't for about another two years when everyone started focusing on getting hops in their flip tricks. This dude could slide the shit out of a trick. His laid back style reminded me of Ocean Howell in Ravers Suck.
Does everyone notice hoe Old Spice, JCPenny, Mountain Dew, Redbull, etc, are not plastered on anyones ramp, shirt, board, helmet, etc? The skaters and skateboarding since 1995 have been so watered down, commercialized, and pathetic. 1991-1994 the best time in skating history.
Who could possibly have anything negative to say about this part? Alphonzo Rawls kicks ass. This was 1993, skating wasn't so manufactured. Notice the amount of tricks that are done on curbs. As far as the "ugly flip" comment, you dont have shit on Alf now or Alf from 17 years ago.
@HailTTThief86 irrelevant of how many creative, timeless or even undoable tricks there are in this part, the "ugly" or "ugliest flip ever" comment just might be right..
he is a shoe designer, but i belive he is independent, not working for any company. i did see him on daily habit promoting a line with fallen shoes (i think) a few weeks ago.... and this dude is a legend, on both street and vert, look up the carlsbad rail......other than colin and danny, no one was doing the amount of tech tricks on vert he did...
I was at the Battle of the Berrics finals last weekend and I was surprised how much love and respect Alphonso Rawls received from the high profile skaters like Koston, Dyrdek, and Mike Carrol. After seeing this video, now it makes more sense. How insanely advanced and versatile is this dude!!?? I can't believe he did that last trick on the massive YMCA ramp. That ramp is at least two stories tall.
Um... most peoples tricks didn't leave the ground in 1993. Look at old school penny from the early 90's (and I don't mean etnies high 5 - before that).
And as to defending his style - pretty much no tic tacs, lands his tricks with speed, and has good pushing style. Maybe his flip tricks don't look the best but look at how smooth all his other skills are.
yo you're obviously some new knowitall dumbass...probably started after u saw your first X-Games...dude from 92-93 flip tricks were just fliped lower, that was the style....poppin your flips and catching em didn't come back in style until 94...stereo video. But in 92-93 everything was baggy low pro...and supper small 38mm wheels...try doin all of that on 38mm wheels
dude i loved skating when wheels were 38mm.i remember getting my first set of toxic 39ers.after a few months you were basically riding on your bearings.
all these kids riding 7.75 still because they say they can do their "street" tricks better.. these were all size 8.75-9.5 decks during this period and look at all the tech that's being thrown down? any more excuses?
