But its okay, I'll live I'm just curious and kind of excited I guess so I am just looking through all these braces videos on YouTube. I didn't think you were supposed to use whitening things on your teeth with braces tho. Helpful video btw. :)
I got my clean retainers today but when I put them on I cannot close my mouth entirely with the retainers, it looks like I have a little open bite, a little gap, and I'm worried if this is going to affect my bite. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal? I have seen other people wearing clean retainers but none of them have had problem with closing their mouth entirely .

As for the pain, just follow the instructions from the Tylenol and in a few days it shouldn't hurt as much. Whenever my braces are adjusted I feel pain for a few days but then it goes away =)

@bubblegum97266 I'm sorry I don't know what you mean. When I first got braces I had to only drink liquids because my mouth was sore but after awhile you can eat anything you'd like except gum I believe.

Ok so I have never had braces, but I have that little white square you were talking about. My dentist said my teeth were very well taken care of, but he never explained the white square on my 2 front upper teeth
I got braces in January and I had to have an expander for three months and it didn't even work! So they put a spring in where they needed it to get bigger and that worked!

@whalelover1231 I can't really answer that question that is something only an orthodontist can tell. If your teeth aren't getting any whiter then maybe it has to do with your diet. Things like Coca-Cola can stain your teeth. Try minimizing your soda intake or drink it with a straw so that it doesn't wash over your teeth. Try also using in conjunction whitening toothpaste and whitening mouthwash every night. Make sure the mouthwash is alcohol free though because alcohol can damage your throat.

@girlyychick11 In September. I didn't get them earlier because I thought it would be too embarrassing to have braces in high school, boy was I wrong! There is nothing wrong with having braces. My parent's didn't want to force me though so I got them when I was older and realized my mistake, haha.
@rebeccakelsey well i got my braces today. it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be. my teeth dont hurt at all...okay maybe a little...and my mouth only hurts bc there is something that they had to twist so it is poking me. So all in all it wasnt that bad of an experience. now i have to go back in a month to get them checked.

@AJB0902 when you get your teeth pulled make sure to take some kind of pain killer before the numbness of your mouth compleatly wears off. your pain with acctualy depend on how well you handle pain. Your mouth will acctualy probably hurt more the day after then the day before so just be prepaired for that. I hope this helps you a little.
did it hurt when your braces were put in? because my brother has already had braces, and he said, when he had them put in, that they kind of...forced his mouth open, and put little bits of foam in his mouth to suck up the saliva, because he had his mouth wide open for about 15-20 minutes, and its very hard to swallow, lying down, with your mouth open. did u have this problem?
@MerciX1001 It isn't about what is better it is about what your teeth need. I wanted to get Invisilign because they are less noticeable, BUT Invisilign can't fix all teeth alignments. My jaw was a little messed up so that is why I needed the metal braces.

@jacque4bruce It took me about two weeks. Now it doesn't hurt at all unless I get them tightened - in which it only hurts me for a day. But it depends on the person. I used my braces as an excuse to have ice cream and milk shakes for a few weeks! I hope you feel better soon! =)

@AJB0902 If they are going to put you to sleep then I promise it wont' hurt. You may feel a little strange afterwards and it may feel weird to eat but just use that as an excuse to have a lot of ice cream and milk shakes! Just explain to you parents how you want to get them as soon as possible. I'm sure they would understand your feelings. But remember that braces are also expensive, so if your parents say to wait then also try to understand them as well. I hope this could help! =)

@lovearvil1996 That depends. Why do they not approve? Braces are really expensive so that might be the reason. Personally I think they are very important. Not only for how they "fix" your teeth, but also because if your teeth overlap then they are harder to clean and thus more likely to develop a cavity. Try asking your parents for an in depth reason, maybe they have a good one?
@lovearvil1996 I'm sure they must have a good reason. You will have to wait until you are a adult and then maybe you can get them yourself if you still want them. I got my braces when I was 20! It is never too late. Just take care of your teeth , brush every day =)

@damanisdakila I would ask your dentist what was the specific ingredient in that toothpaste that made it bad for your teeth so that you can avoid that brand or ingredient when picking a new toothpaste. Then its all about preference. My two favorites were mentioned in the video.
oh man. i really want braces again. i got them when i was 11 & got them off when i was 17 but i never really wore my rubber bands & never really went b/c i was so busy with sports so my mid line is off now & i still kind of have my over bite but not as badly & never wore my retainer. i like the way i bite, but i want the straight profile, you know? ugh. i'd feel a little silly being 22 & getting them back.
they have these hook & eye type things that you can thread regular floss thru to use too.

@pinktatergirl27 Getting the braces on themselves does not hurt at all. I didn't feel any pain until a couple of hours later where my mouth felt generally sore (About a 4 on your scale). For the first 3 days I wasn't able to chew on regular food, so I ate lots of soft foods (5). Then after a week I felt not pain at all. A few months later I started using elastics (that was a 7 for about 2 days). Tightenings didn't hurt for more then an hour. But pain is different with each person.

they have these hook & eye type things that you can thread regular floss thru to use too.

@MsBinkies Wow thats a long time with braces! I'm sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you. I've always considered myself a great patient though. I always do what my physicians tell me.

@rebeccakelsey i know. it was terrible. lol. but for the young kids who are getting braces and think it'll all be cool no matter what, need to follow the directions to the tee to get them off as soon as possible.

im supposed to get braces but im scared to because i DEFINITELY do not like pain!! (yes i am a major weanie!) lol can you rate the pain on a 1-10 scale throughout the different stages of having braces? like when you first got them, the day after, a week later, a month later, now, etc. please and thank you!!! :)

@pinktatergirl27 Getting the braces on themselves does not hurt at all. I didn't feel any pain until a couple of hours later where my mouth felt generally sore (About a 4 on your scale). For the first 3 days I wasn't able to chew on regular food, so I ate lots of soft foods (5). Then after a week I felt not pain at all. A few months later I started using elastics (that was a 7 for about 2 days). Tightenings didn't hurt for more then an hour. But pain is different with each person.
