  • wowwww u r brave i would have been terrified

  • no dislikes :) GOOD

  • Thank you so much for sharing this, is so incredible to watch.

  • Very cool stuff.

  • that wolf was napping, when you started whistling hes like "what the?.....screw it going back to sleep" and thats exactly how i act if i hear a noise when i sleep, my ears even involuntarily twitch, and i have absolutely no idea why

  • i have an alskan husky

  • Wow wasn't that scary for you? Would they jump a man if they see you?

  • @FilmComposeRaHoppe I wouldn't describe it as scary, just thrilling. There is an element of danger with any large wild animal, especially predators, but wolf attacks on humans in North America are very rare.

  • The was a beautiful colouring on the one wolf. Awesome video :D

  • that would be SOOOO awesome! so lucky, that would be so cool to get to see wolves like out there, they are so cute.

  • It was a caribou, and they didn't catch that one. It swam across the wide river and the wolves watched it swim away from the shore. I think caribou are faster swimmers than wolves.

  • did the black ones end up getting the moose or whatever that was that ran in the water? seems to me like they would wait till it eventually came out for food

  • you *howling*

white timber wolf:*looking at yu* what the hell?

  • omg omg omg omg omg I <3 <3 <3 Wolves soooo much my username is named after a wolf on WQ! omg omg omg I <3 Wolves!

  • autumnstain, Im sure its a wolf. come and visit my channel, I love WOLVES! don't forget to visit Wolfcanine100, he knows more than me.

  • what time of year was this ? that wolf looked like he was shedding, that could attribute for some of his odd coloring. Be carefull when you are out by your self though, wolves are USUALLY skiddish but can and will attack in a pack if they feel they can take you and are hungery. They truelly are amazing animals though. extreamly strong, they have massive bite power too. As amazing as the animals in this great state are be sure to bring a gun for protection. I enjoyed your video, was prety cool

  • Amazing.

I honestly wish I was that lucky. I've never seen real wolves living in their native habitat. To be truthful though..I love wolves so much that if I got close enough to one of those puppies I just might have snagged one..I'm sorry I know it'd be wrong but I just..I don't think I could control myself in front of real wolf puppies.

Also their behaviors where very normal for wolves. I sorta study them (I have two wolfdogs) also the coloring of the first wolf was black phase.

  • awesome video man. you go out alone and stay quiet, you see stuff. Simple as that.

I've spent time alone in Scotland and Lapland but Canada and Alaska are calling.

  • ARWOOOOOOOOOO

  • What to say but - lucky you! :-)

  • I you sure weird colored wolf was not a dog wolf mix? Or maybe a giant cat XD It looks like a giant version of my old cat.

  • It was about 200 miles for the nearest road and definitely not a cat. Wolves that color do occur, although it's the only one I've seen personally.

  • @youalaska

I know its not a giant cat. XD It just reminded me of my old cat from the fur pattern

I have never seen one that color! 0_o I didn't even know they could look that weird.

  • thats amazing ...id do anything to see them free like that

  • how did the wolfs not see? you i mean they were looking rite at you!

  • The one that was walking right towards me on the gravel bar might seems the most surprising. I had spotted him first, and was lying on the gravel bar, not moving, as he walked towards me. The wind was blowing towards me, so he couldn't smell me. Since he might never have seen a human before, and I was flat on the gravel, he kept getting closer. It was a similar situation for the one white wolf. I was lying flat on the tundra.

  • nice video..lets say i wanted to do something like that ..what would u suggest for supplys and all please let me kno .. thank u

  • Check out my link under "more info." You'll find a list of the gear I used there. Good luck!

  • this nice immigrant son;

You should walk in eurazie like that.

And you are walking in the way of druids.

You should be able to pronounce yourself as Athapasken.

Do you know from which family that white wolf is?

Do you know what has been lost?

To communicate with them means to be with them...

He, the old white wolf, is probebly walking in the southern parts of the territory from his pack.

  • I liked the video till you started bugging the wolf that was trying to sleep. That was not cool.

  • In that deep wilderness I might have been the only person that wolf has ever encountered at close range. It cost that wolf a few minutes of sleep, and nothing more, to get video that thousands of people will enjoy for years to come.

  • watched it again, wish I was with you for this. excellent

  • Have you ever considered doing a summer in Yellowstone ? If you did one now, it would be eye opening for alot of people. The Wolf has been at full capacity for going on 7 yrs and back for 15.

  • That would be fun, for sure!

  • NIce. Was there any risk of you being the prey?

  • I would say there was very little risk of a healthy wolf attacking me.

  • nice footage mate. I am fortunate enough to live in Alaska. Have been here for 12 years now. I love it. Beautiful all year 'round. I think of it like a giant zoo without fences. I just wish they would keep it wild and untamed. I would recommend anyone to visit here. Like the author said. Avoid the tourist traps like Denali. Your best chances of seeing wildlife like wolves, bears, moose, etc. is hiking in the back country for a few days. Just make noise so u dont suprise a bear. :D

  • utterly incredible stuff. I have a lot of respect for your work. I would like to get to know you better. check out my channel.

  • amazing video wolves are my passion, l love seeing them free and happy in the wilderness

  • That was some incredible footage. What an experience you must have had. Wonder if those wolves ever saw another person before. Thanks for sharing you journey. Keep safe. Jet over and out

  • Wow!

  • Great experience,

thanks for sharing it all with us.

  • wow. alaska looks amazing. im going to start saving up to take a trip such as this one

  • Amazing Trip best wishes

  • Were you armed? Very nice footage of the wolves, and miracle shot of the caribou escape. I'd like to think you can make these treks without a gun, but wonder about the practicality of that!

  • For most of the trip I was unarmed. When I did the river float part of my trip I had a rifle but never fired a shot.

  • nice work

  • Wolf puppies! Next time I come along, kay?

  • Awesome Vid. 5stars

  • Wonderful footage :) Thanks for sharing!

  • Is this footage in the DVD?

  • Yes, all this wolf footage is in the DVD and a whole lot more animals too, of course. See the link in the item description for more information on this trip, along with gear lists, maps, etc.

  • when would a human be in danger encountering wolves ?

  • Recent history shows that very rarely are healthy wolves a threat to people in North America. I think there has been only one confirmed fatality in the last 100 years although a few people have been bitten. "Half-tame" wolves are probably the most untrustworthy.

  • What I meant was, is a pack of wolves more likely, than a lone wolve to attack a human human - im thinking more of safety in camping situations ... great video btw

  • I'm sure a pack WOULD be slightly more dangerous, but still the risk to people would normally be very minimal.

  • This is a great video. Thank you for sharing! Love the wolf puppies, so cute. The wolves are beautiful. That caribou was lucky.

  • Thanks! I was very lucky to see the wolf puppies. That caribou was lucky, for sure. I think animals often try to escape wolves by swimming. It worked that time!

  • awesome footage! thanks for posting this

  • Glad you liked it. I was very lucky in seeing wolves.

  • 5:20 that wolf looks so confused XD

  • I think that was an old wolf, sleeping hard, and was just waking up.

  • AWESOME VIDEO!!!! but no offense or anything but....ur kinda bad at howling.....

  • Thanks! I probably AM bad at howling, but I was "howling" quietly just to get his attention without startling him.

  • wouldn't the wolf get you scent?

  • They did once they got down wind of me!

  • Such amazing footage!! My cat was sleeping next to me, and she woke up (startled) to see what the sound was before the old white wolf when you howled! : D Very pleased to see the Tarptent; I made one myself last summer. What an experience! I envy you deeply.

  • Tarptents are excellent shelters for lightweight backpackers. Good luck on your own adventures!

  • should you be whistling at wolves? awsome vid by the way!

  • That's a valid point. I normally wouldn't whistle at wolves in a commonly visited place like Yellowstone.

  • just asking you know...lol.

I love wolves...when I get a dog it's going to be an all black German Shepard or a Huskey...just cause they look like wolves...

  • Man you have definitely got a pair!!! That would be an amazing trip to make but I can only imagine the planning and expense it would take! Glad you didn't have any close encounters with the bears; they aren't nearly as cute and cuddly as most people think. I have gone to AK 15 times and am moving up this spring. Great website you have; I'll have to be a customer soon.

  • That's great you are moving to Alaska. I actually did have some close encounters with bears, but luckily they all turned out OK!

  • i'd love to visit alaska one day, you got some great footage, the wolves were beautiful

  • do it I just came back from 3 weeks there.

Avoid the tourist traps like denali head straight for the wilderness and camp

  • It must have been a great trip. Denali is OK if you get a backcountry permit, but I agree, it can get crowded on the road system.

  • i like that tent you have, could you tell me what type it is please, thanks from jon in britain. best wishes bruce

  • Hi Jon,

That's a Henry Shire's tarptent. It's a whole lot of shelter for the weight, and bugproof. You just have to be smart about where and how you set it up. Enjoy your day.

  • Thankyou for your comments, can you elaborate on what you said about how and where to set up. Many thanks.

  • It's very important to set it up in an area protected from strong winds. In treeless country I'd usually set up in a nice opening in the willows. Also it's important to set it up in an area of good drainage. That was usually pretty easy in the alpine tundra. Elsewhere, I'd pick spots where the water wouldn't pool.

  • thankyou

  • I thought a bear would be hunted in this video. I love bears thanks to cute Knut of Berlin Zoo. Bears are as intelligent as great apes and emotionally complex. They really need all the support and respect they can get. They are so magnificent. Knut is cute on YOUTUBE, especially the "Sunday Show"

  • thats my favorite color of wolf! nice footage by the way.

  • I had good luck seeing different color phases, but that tannish/grayish/brown one was probably the most unusual. There were more black, white and other colored wolves than gray ones on that trip.
