Hey Eeco, first time I have heard this boogie. As usual, GREAT playing and composing (either on-the-fly or rehearsed). Something nice during our 110 degree F temp and high humidity. Also, nice touch with the soft-shoe. /Roy
Not seen any new knockout improvisations for a while, these are such great pieces! Cant wait for your BOOK OF INSTRUCTIONS TO PLAY BOOGIE WOOGIE in OCT- hope its on schedule, or earlier!!
Hello Eeco, I just caught up with you again. I have not been on line in a while my Friend. Do you compose this piece? Forgive but I really like it. Thank you for sharing it with me.
You just keep getting better,Eeco, more versatile, always very musically aware. Then you show us how much there is to learn, and you teach us with these great clips,
Keep them coming!! Warm Regards to you and your family.
nice stride with a drop of boogie :-) I enjoyed that left hand pattern starting at 0:55...very interesting. and I like that this video was recorded from above,it will help to learn this looking at your fingers :-)
@dovanka yes from above is always nice to have a peak what the pianist is doing :) and that left hand is used also as in "Suitcase Blues" for example...enjoy the piece!
Very fine piano playing, adding yet more to your repertoire. Those passing tones between chord changes & also the 1/2 step moves are so important to the impetus of a stride piano piece. & you mixed in some cool boogie lines in different areas of the composition, especially that wide one where you play the 5th, 6th, & b7 while holding the 10th up higher. My wrist just isn't up to that.
It paid you to start really young!
Did you write it, improvise it, learn it by ear, or what?
@starboy288 thanks...with the chords 5th, 6th I dont know what your talking about but if you say so I think that sounds cool haha..I just improvised it. Hope you'll have a nice weekend! take care
Man, that's simply wonderful - you need to know that it's because of your command of, embrace of and true love and passion for the roots & fundamentals of jazz piano that you're able to pay full and proper tribute to the masters. Not only do I love it, but I'm immensely proud of you, brother. :)
And this is the FIRST time I've ever heard stride fused with boogie! ;)
If I may, I'd like to post a video response here from a stride master - "Deep Forest" by Earl Hines & his Orch. from 1940. :)
