  • Tim Heyer best name ever !!

  • Hi, If I were to order the product you are demonstrating on this video, what is it's exact name and model number?

  • @lisalumi Hi, lisalumi. This is the ColorMunki Design and the model # is MEU115-G. I hope this helps! -Tim

  • @Tim4Pantone Thanks for the reply. This product might be more than I need right now and I have another question. My concern is making prints that match what I see on my laptop screen. My printer is a Canon Pro9000 Mark II and I am working with a MacBook. The prints are crisp but the colors, altho nice aren't what i see on my laptop screen. I am looking at your product, ColorMunki Display. Can this product help the

communication between my computer and the printer improve the printed color?

  • @lisalumi Hi Tim, I know your'e busy but could you please answer my followup question regarding the ColorMunki Disply vs. the ColorMunki Design. Thank you :-)

  • Hello, i have a question:so i m planning to buy munki design to calibrate my monitor and profile my printer but i dont really get one thing do i have to pay the money for one-time action? It s kinda expensive to pay $800 (Russia, Moscow) for ONE-TIME / ONE-MINUTE job and then forget about this device.

  • @wonnapee You can buy this product for considerably less then $800 and it is not a one time use product as it is recommended that you calibrate your monitor and printer every couple of weeks to make sure it stays accurate. ColorMunki also has a lot of other useful features as Tim showed in the video.

  • Would this product be useful for automotive paint matching?

  • Hey Tim

I was wondering, can Pantone colours on screen be exactly the same as on pantone books after I calibrate my screen with ColorMunki Design? and then is it possible to print out the same spot colours I selected on screen through cmyk printer?

    Thank you.

  • Hi hyperground1 - sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Calibrating your monitor will get you as close as possible to matching your monitor to your book. But because your monitor is a light source and your book is reflected color, you still may notice some subtle differences. Because CMYK has a much smaller color gamut than Spot, some colors will not reproduce well. Your CM software will show you a preview, and a Color Bridge guide will show you the true printed difference side by side.

  • . iF you read The Pantone Color Bridge and browsing the colours, you will se the difference between prints. check in my FAVS videos the girl talking about Pantone formula guide,.. life is easier than you think :DD

  • Hey Tim.

I just ordered my Pantone MEU116 ColorMunki Create Monitor Calibration Device and Software. I was just wondering. Whats the difference between that one and the other more expensive one? I'm a photographer & I hope I ordered the right thing for my money! Thanks a bunch if you could get back to me! :)

    Carly

  • Hi Steven,

The product that you ordered will calibrate your monitor and comes with software that you can build color palettes. The more expensive product that you are referring to is the Colormunki Design. This product allows you to calibrate your monitor, profile your printer and comes with software that you can build color palettes. Please let us know if you have anymore questions.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Carly - sorry for just getting back to you! CM Design and CM Photo uses a more advance color measuring technology than CM Create. Not to put down the sensor in your CM Create, however - it will still give you a much more accurate view of your color onscreen. As you might expect, CM Photo has a few extra tricks up its sleeve for photographers. There are often upgrade incentives available - check out our site for more info!

  • Cool vid! What's the difference between Colormunki and Huey Pro?

  • Hi siminona,

hueyPRO will calibrate your monitor using a colorimeter. ColorMunki also calibrates but uses a spectrophotometer (better technology) and will also profile your printer, so what you see on your monitor is what you get. It will read color off of most surfaces, extract color from images and has a strong set of creative palette-building tools in the software so you can automatically use those colors in your design and imaging software. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks so much for your reply! I really appreciate it. I would LOVE to purchase the ColorMunki Design. Unfortunately I'm a little strapped for cash at the moment. Can you tell me more about ColorMunki Create? I'm torn between the HueyPro and the Create. Which one is better for monitor calibration, and what exactly is the difference between the two?

  • ColorMunki Create and hueyPRO both use colorimeters, so you will get similar calibration results. Create does not do projector calibration, printer profiling or color zapping. Create is more of a creative software solution that comes with a calibrator - it comes with the same palette building software as CM Design, which is a big plus over hueyPRO.

Let me know if you have more questions. Our Facebook fan page is also a great place to ask questions - both to us and to other creatives. Thanks!

  • BTW, I'll be posting a video about ColorMunki Create very soon!

  • Very cool! I look forward to checking out the ColorMunki Create video. :)

I hope you don't mind me asking a couple more questions. Does the ColorMunki Create accommodate for changing ambient lighting as hueyPro does? And does Pantone plan to update the Huey line of products soon, since it's been 2 years since inception?

Thanks again! You've been so helpful.

  • Don't mind at all. ColorMunki Create does not adapt for changing ambient light. As of right now, I don't believe there are no definitive plans for updating the huey products. I suppose that is because it's still a class-leading product available at a great price!

  • Does it really helps? ^.-

  • Definitely! I may be biased, but this is a tool I actually use on a regular basis in my design work. It really adds some powerful and easy options into your creative workflow and gives you confidence that what you're seeing - whether it's on screen on on paper - is accurate.
