Well for me I am learning ASL so videos like this really help me pick up signs. But for a deaf person I think they don't get the interpretation of the lyrics like we do. Allyballybabe said in one of her videos you aren't supposed to do the literal words but you are kind of explaining to a deaf person what the song is about through signing it. Her deaf friend told her once that she read the lyrics to songs in church but didn't understand them.

English isn't their native language, ASL is. As such, reading it in English is very difficult for them to understand, and it helps them, instead, for someone to explain the song to them in their native language, ASL. When you sign a song, you don't sign it word-for-word, but instead you sign the meaning of the song.
