  • That was SO beautiful. A truly magical video. I wish so much I could do that to the wild Ravens that come in my yard. I think they are just beautiful birds, so smart and sweet natured. Thank you for posting. Can't say I wasn't envious. :)

  • I've been interacting with ravens and crows since I was 7. They are beautiful, intelligent and social animals. Some look down on them, but I have always loved having them around. You can play with them in so many great ways!

And, trust me when I say, they DO have a sense of humor, though it may be somewhat rudimentary and not able to perform Python skits in your backyard.

Also saw a young budgie in Western Australia land on a friend's shoulder without any goading or plying. No mistake either.

  • THIS IS STAYJED!!! LAWL!!!!! I believe you'd never seen this bird before. Ravens are pretty curious and intelligent creatures, not like Cardinals who divebomb people all fucking day. So, cool.

  • Beautiful bird. Creepy voice.

  • Beautiful bird. Creepy voice.

  • I get close to petting a Canada Goose once... then a noisy family got out of their car and scared it away

  • He enjoys being petted. :)

  • "Look how I tricked this human into petting me..."

  • He just wanted a friend lol

  • hey everybody in Baltimore knows how pet ravens, especially football fans LOL

  • awesome.

  • im wondering if he or she was someone's pet that flew away or something..

  • So far I've pet wild: sandhill cranes, turkeys, chickadees, down woodpeckers, nut-hatches, red-winged blackbirds, Malard ducks and Canadian geese. It's not hard to believe this is a wild (but well fed) bird. I'm just surprised he came and sat without any food out.

  • @brujahbattalion How have you managed to pet so many creatures? Ducks and geese, sure, but the others? Wow. Any secrets?

  • @snardlefarb Yeah, the secret is: food! The sandhill cranes at our local state park love blueberries. I wouldn't really recommend feeding them though, they'll take the food but they also bite like hell, lol. The other little birds will come and land in your hand after people feeding them for generations.

  • @brujahbattalion make videos.. glad to watch ;)

  • @brujahbattalion It is simply a gift. The birds know you mean no harm and somehow you CAN communicate to them, while other bird lovers simply cannot get within reaching distance, no matter how friendly their intentions are. It has to be like the gift of dowsing and such. Not everyone can do it.

  • Is this not a crow? Seems small for a Raven.

  • Lol this must be your pet without a doubt!

  • this has to be some kinda omen

  • I want that one! :D

  • it's beautiful...

  • haha legend

  • Most likely it escape from its owner.

  • @FurrylittlePaws Unlikely since it's illegal to have a raven as a pet.

  • @Gazpacho8 I believe it's illegal in America.

But I live in Holland, and it's legal to have one here. :) I meight get one in the future!

  • @Shadowblood66 Do your homework first. They demand A LOT of attention and will outlive you. A great book is Mind of the Raven by Bernd Heinrich. It'll blow you away.

  • @snardlefarb They do indeed demand a lot of attention. But I will give it ALL the attention it needs! Also my parents will regulary interact with the bird.

I'm still researching though. There's not much info available about ravens. So I'm still learning. I'll make the descision in about 3-4 months, because I don't want to rush it.

  • @Shadowblood66 Yeah, due to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act it's illegal to own Common Ravens in the U.S. But, I've heard of places that breed African White Necked Ravens, which are legal to own. They also breed some Common/White Necked hybrid ravens that can be legally owned as pets.

But White Necked ravens, even if they have all-black feathers, are noticeably different than Common Ravens; their beak is HUGE.

  • @ThInTrM But I live in holland :) it's legal here to have them as pets!

I could go on the internet and buy an OWL if I wanted.

  • @Shadowblood66 Holland is such a cool country. That is so cool you can have Ravens as pets. I wish so much that it was legal in Australia. :(

  • @AmyK007 That may be right.. but Australia already HAS awesome animals in the wild! That is why they don't want to risk an outbreak of exotic animals I suppose.

Do ravens also live in Australia?

Everything you can encounter in Holland are pidgeons and cows :P

  • @ThInTrM Btw it can be rediculous what's legal to keep as pets here... I've seen flying foxes for sale... Eagles...Squirrels... Skunks (why would anyone want a skunk!?)... Monkeys....

As long as it isn't on the protected species list, it's legal here 0_______o

  • LOL if the voice is change to a womans and close the video but just hear the voice. im sure it'd be a dirty video

  • ok if its not your pet im sure you feed him everyday so he trusts you but he is still a wild bird right?

  • @yettii0077 for the love of all things holy and FOR THE RECORD. THIS IS THE ONLY TIME I EVER SAW THIS BIRD. Not before, not after. ONE DAY ONLY. Went back a couple times, never happened again. Believe me or not, I am done with this question. My advice? Be open to odd things. Good stuff happens. Cheers.

  • @snardlefarb Hey, this is definetly one of the coolest things ive seen on youtube, i believe when you knocked on the wooden table you "invited" the bird over. I know that parrots knock 3 times on wood to tell you that you are welcome. Maybe the raven was curious and didnt think you were any danger for it. Its amazing !

  • @snardlefarb If you're so annoyed with answering questions, you should answer them in the description. That's where most of us check.

  • @hildegain What was your question? "Is this staged?"

  • @ItchyGuy87 I didn't have a question. For anyone with that question though, it's probably a good idea to put it in the description though :)

  • @hildegain :-)

  • the is awsome man

  • Not wild. No wild raven would let you do that. It may have been captive raised or just really used to humans feeding it. But it isn't wild.

  • Does he return on a regular basis? :D....so cool!

  • Breton bards and Druids had a tradition of having a raven friend. Those bird can talk if they are taught, and are more keen to learn tricks and all if they are free. Since ravens can live well over 50 years if it's a youngster who becomes friend, you have a friend for life.

  • wow i'm totally jealous!! He seems super comfortable around you :)

  • maybe he was another person's pet bird originally?

  • This is a tame raven, Ravens are naturally cautious, more so than any other Corvidae bird, it is neverless a great video to watch

  • theseamonkeysass your an complete totally jerk off go cut your self and stop acting like a hot shot. i shall send my army of PET ravins to casterate u.

  • That's illegal but very awesome.

  • Quoth the Raven: "Caw."

  • is this a crow or a raven?

  • EWWW...WEST NILE VIRUS!!

  • @theseamonkeysass I have had close encounters with wild "RAVENS," (you called it a crow Mr know it all) within a couple of feet, so far they have been to shy to let me touch them.

  • @theseamonkeysass a seamonkeysass called me a moron. sadness ensues.

I present YOU with the biggest question of all:

Why would I stage this? Why wouldn't I just post a clip of "Check my awesome pet raven"?

    seamonkeysass.

you give brine shrimp a bad name.

at least you chose the right part.

  • @theseamonkeysass there are ravens here in iceland that are like this.. and they aren't pets..

  • Comment removed

  • @theseamonkeysass its a raven. not a crow. big difference between birds buddy

  • That is amazing, good bird.

  • Omg! Cuteness overload! :))

  • Fantastic video. This is one trusting bird and I presume he is used to humans. Nonetheless it must be very satisfying to be able to stroke him like this and I hope nobody takes unfair advantage of his trust in humans.

  • Odin was watching you.

  • Lol the raven says "NEVERMORE.... Haha just kidding I'm just shittin ya."

  • haha sweet moped.

  • @95ZR580 thanks. good eye. but it's not a moped, it's a Yamaha Chappy. compelled to promote it, it's given me so much. including this encounter. it finds things for me.

  • Dam this vid makes me wanna pet a raven now.

  • By the way he is stroking it, is it a black bird or a black Cock?

  • I would've kept it if I were you.

  • OMG I WANT IT <3

  • Cool video! I am glad he came to visit! Cute. :)

  • lol the raven was like "wow i never felt this before"

  • AHHAHH am I the only one that laughs his ass off when youre whispering :" gooood biiirrd " xD

  • "this is trippy" lmao

  • Ravens and crows are smarter than most people give them credit for. Ive noticed unique behaviors like in spring. If i leave an aluminum pie plate out with brightly colored strings and sequins. the crows will take those pieces for their nest and replace that item with a rock or pine cone.

I also noticed that certain murders of them gather bye the hundreds at specific hours of the morning and night and in specific spots to do whatever it is they do. oh...! and have you seen a crow funeral!? WOW!

  • u've got to tell me how u managed to pet a raven, im dying to pet them, i love ravens, also please tell me how it feels to touch.

  • U can tell he or she really likes it when being pet :D

  • wow. If this video is real, this is amazing. I can't imagine wild birds being so social. Or maybe (s)he was expecting some treats :]

  • Dawwww <3

  • thanks for the tips. Ill be sure to try that. Whistle and tap on at the table. got it. you explain yourself so well

  • Like someone else said, your doctor dolittle

  • Man very cool video. It appears that the raven was young but apparently took a liking to you along with the food you had

  • where is this?

  • you sound like you're gonna have sex with it LOL

  • Is it so hard to bekieve that this bird was raised by a human and relesed? Birds know enought oknow who st stay away from. This guy probly just reminded him of his handler.

  • @akfonzy Wild ravens can be very curious and will interact with humans easily, so long as it's not a place where they've been hunted.

  • Raven: (thinking) This is nice... I could get used to this...

  • He looks like he has a full tummy/crop in this scene.

This must have been shot after he panhandled you out of half your sandwich. I hope he is still out there.

  • I'm insane with jealousy! That is toooooooo freakin' cool!

  • Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

  • That is amazing!! That raven is absolutely beautiful <3

  • Dogs: Wow, this nice guy is petting me and giving me food! He must be God!

Ravens: Wow, this sap is petting me and giving me food! I must be God!

  • Aw, I wish I can pet one too someday...I really love these birds~ x3

  • Amazing!! I wish it was with me, I'd give him some food. Lovely bird.

  • How did you do that?! Does that bird know u orcwas it just coincidence? Seriously i wanna try that

  • Amazing! :)

  • it loves you very much. did you keep it?

  • Nice pet you got there.

  • Where and how did you get the raven? Do you live in Melbourne in Australia? I want a raven as a pet as well!

  • Every day that I see the ravens near my home.. I dream of saying hello like this! You are sooo lucky...

  • That is so goddamn cool. What a gorgeous bird.

  • WOW!!! So lucky! I had a Crow that was really friendly, out at my camp a long time ago. It used to come right up while I was outside having a smoke and sit on the table next to me. Couldn't pet it, but it was really interested in anything I did. If I was walking around the yard, it would fly overhead, land nearby and watch me.

  • omfg i want a pet raven! i love the sounds they make :3

  • WOAH ITS A DOULBE RAVEN! OH MY GOOOOODDDDDD! WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?

  • that is amazing. things can happen like that. i once hand fed a wild squarrel when i was 5.

  • He/she is such a beauty!!!

  • This guy is identical to the one we had for years, "Black Bart," who was known throughout the area. He knew a few words and sometimes crows would try to mob him as he was a threat to their turf. Ravens besides crows and magpies are smart and crafty, period.

  • Ok. Look. I Really don't know this bird. We'd never met.

The only way I know to try to convince you skeptics is to

refer you to the other raven clips.

    same critter, one hit wonder

still giving me trouble years later.

    this was not staged,

    it is what you see.

    am not cocky.

    just wanna be upright.

  • @snardlefarb Afraid to commit are you?

  • @snardlefarb

One hit wonder? You never went back? I would be a regular visiter to that beach if it happened to me.

  • @snardlefarb Bull shit thats your pet...any raven owner would know this.

  • Why would you want to pet a raven??

  • @memorx669 Why WOULDN'T you want to pet a raven???

  • @RogueAdamantiumQueen ... true ...

  • @memorx669 I would consider myself lucky indeed to have an opportunity to interact with such a gorgeous creature.

  • Comment removed

  • @memorx669 see above.

  • @memorx669 Aside from them being the smartest of all birds?

  • @memorx669 why wouldn't one want to pet a raven!?

  • @memorx669 To take over the world, in a cool and fashionable way.. I thought it was obvious.

  • @memorx669 Why not...?

  • @kozmon0t aren't you fun?

  • @kozmon0t I think you're the cocky one, actually. You're also pretty obnoxious, for having the gall to talk down to snardlefarb.

This raven is as wild as any of its rural or wilderness-dwelling kin. That's one of the definitions of the word; "not tamed or domesticated." There's plenty of videos on YouTube of ravens in rural areas and wilderness interacting with humans just like this.

There was no good reason for you to give snardlefarb crap over this video. None at all.

  • @kozmon0t No, I don't think I will fuck off. You were being a condescending asshole to this guy, trying to tell him that animals only tolerate his presence because he might give them food. "An opinion with no personal comments?" Yeah, right.

I see now that you're a condescending asshole in general, though. If you don't like that people are going to call you out for being a dick for no reason, then delete your comments or apologize. Simple as that.

  • @kozmon0t There's plenty of YouTube videos out there involving ravens interacting with humans that speak against your supposedly all-authoritative experiences. Again: you had no good reason to be a condescending asshole. Not now, and not when you were attacking snardlefarb.

  • @kozmon0t Actually, yes, it does outweigh your experience, because it's the experiences of others in the wilderness and rural areas. You've got a highly overstated opinion of yourself if you think you're the only person who's ever spent time around animals away from civilization.

So no, you haven't owned me, sorry. You're just demonstrating how much of a conceited asshole you are.

  • @HooshIsASoup couldnt have said it better myself. XD

ravens are brilliant at assessing a situation. coming into contact with another animal like a human? not so strange. :P

  • @kozmon0t The only person that was "owned" was you, you goddamn cunt.

  • It's sooo cute:D

  • It would be awesome to have a friend like this whether it be a raven or a crow. Both are really smart from what I've learned and to be trusted by one as you obviously are would be the ultimate experience.

  • how exactly did you get him to do that? whistling and knocking on the wood?

  • you should come to lancaster,ca we have ravens the size of dogs

  • @dade356 Chihuahuas, I suppose...

  • @MrRazorblade999 nope their the size of medium dogs

  • @dade356 Yeah right...In your dreams maybe.

  • @MrRazorblade999 not in my dreams

  • @dade356 The biggest ravens weighs at most 2 kg. A medium sized dog about 10-15 kg.

  • @MrRazorblade999 Yes, but birds have hollow bones along with feathers rather than fur...making them lighter. You know, so they can fly.

  • @RedecorateYourSkull So what? They are still not the size of dogs.

  • @MrRazorblade999 not the wieght the sheer hight and the wing span on the ones we have can get close to 6ft but the usual size for the wingspan around here is about 3-4ft

  • He's your BFF

  • what a dark and elegant creature......

  • Dont touch him aperently he IS radioactive :D

  • wow.

  • Fuck dude you are bird Jesus. Thanks for all these awesome videos

  • well besides all these dumb comments from these stupid people ,, that was pretty nice other than the fact that your title tells a lie , cause that is no wild bird that was hand fed or raised by the person on the video

  • @MrJonathan1492 aren't you fun?

  • @MrJonathan1492 Not true. Ravens and crows are extremely intelligent and are able to live in the wild and befriend people. True, this may happen more often in parks where they know people have food. But they're still wild. And have figured out that they can interact with humans and get food, and maybe a petting that's enjoyable. Don't we sometimes interact with humans and get something out of it? They're very attracted to bright and shiney things. A lovely animal.

  • I would think if the bird didn't like it, he would have flown away or shown some sort of retaliation.

  • @CautionCat people of the world.... i present to you.... LOGIC!

    thank you CautionCat!

  • @CautionCat Its true, ravens are smart. and..You know, animals. Animals tend to run or bite if you do something they disprove of.

  • I hoped secretly hes gonna pick your eye out and fly away with it:)

  • @galaxytroll why would you hope for that?

  • @galaxytroll not a secret now is it?

  • thats so raven

  • That bird looks like he's in heaven with those pets. He went from shocked to, "Awww yeahhhh... that hit the spot."

  • help meeee! ii found a raven, and he cant fly and is acting sort of weird,so i got a big card board box and pute him in,he is in my room rite now,i gave him some grapes but i dont know what else to do,he dose not look sick, but his wing seems a little off and hes is NOT a baby

  • @grapey08 take it to a vet. the bird's wing might be broken and they could possibly fix it. check online and see what foods a raven can eat because if its wing is broken and the vet fixes it it will need time to heal. I hope i was of some help.

  • I want a pet Raven now.

  • And this was a wild raven? Just came up to you? Wow. Kind of trumps all my crow encounters - they keep their distance from me, but they're constantly wanting my attention and communicating with me. They call on me all the time. Morning and night. And now noon sometimes too. But they don't come close.

  • lol, Raven's are considered the smartest bird species

  • He makes it sound like a porno when he says good bird.

  • Are you the Crow Whisperer ?

  • I am talking about petting wild animals...not about human relationships or premature thoughts. You understand me quite well. Touching a birds feathers with greasy human hands may distroy the plumage.

  • Anyone notice the R44 flying around??

  • @tanastish breast feathers? WAAAY too intimate. We just met.

  • @tanastish you don't just touch someone's chest when you first meet. It will be hard to establish a equal-level relationship due to the counterpart might perceive you as a perv.
