  • Wow i play bari and its midget to this

  • this is better than all those other videos where the bass sax is totally out of place, and tune. It is still quite out of place here tho.

  • the bass sax is like the same size as that azn guy XD

  • That sure is a gigantic sax, as Jack (Kerouac) would say, you sure can blow. Thanks for the introduction (Train to Gävle 8/8/10)

  • MILES TOO LOUD , Ruining a good video

  • @valvetrom

I introduced you to something called the volume button.

  • haha, he's wearing shorts

  • That Dog can wail.....

  • very good

  • thats the best I heard someone play bass sax so far

  • That sax is bigger then 4/5 of the country.

  • lol 4/5 of china!

  • This cat is boss.

  • top

  • cool!! excetional :D

  • Holy cow! That was awesome!

  • I think bass sax should be played by more people, and have more solos in jazz bands. This is really really fantastic! There should be more bass sax players out there. he should have played more of the lower register though...if i had just heard this as a recording...i might have just thought it was a bari.

  • They don't use lower saxes because they are too muddy. They don't use soprano because it's hard to keep in tune. There are certain factors that are unavoidable which leads too the setup we have now.

  • @Saxyman14 We use sopranos. You can play them in tune. you have to practice.

  • WOW!!!! thats an amazing sax i am like dieing to play one i am on tenor and bari and alto rite now lol but i want a basssssss

  • cool shorts

  • Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! lol

  • Good playing! Check out some bass saxophone players with the 1st bass sax quartet ever calles "deep schrott", here on youtube.

  • In my expereince, bigger saxes are easier to play, I can play a high C in Bari's altissimo just fine.

  • very nice.

  • altissimo much be an uber-bitch on that...

great solo work, he got it to sound really well.

  • Nah, man. The bigger the sax, the bigger your altissimo range. Bari gets like five octaves.

  • no, i mean it must be hard to hit altissimo, or at least hit stuff equivalent to a tenor or alto altissimo.

  • Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I can't imagine it's easy for anyone less than a pro. In fact, the only person I know who even owns a bass sax is my teacher, who's a full-time professional player.

  • especially considering that a typical pro bari costs about $5000+, and obviously a bass would be more...

  • Ya a brand new bass can cost anywhere between 7,000$-25,000$.

  • On my bari I can hit the alto altisimo equivalent to G (not very high on the alto's altisimo range, but still) no problem. The big (and longer) the reed, the more leverage you get, making it easier to pinch the reed. Small reed, the harder it is.

  • reeds are the same size just dfferent thickness. if u think altissimo is reached by pinching the reed you are sadly wrong and using poor technique

  • I was talking about the length of the reed.. haha I dare you to look me in the eye and tell me that a soprano reed is the same size as a bari reed :)

I know reed pinching isn't the proper technique to hit altisimo, I was just saying the squeezing like that (which is easier to achieve on a bigger reed because of the length and leverage you are able to achieve because of that length) you can squeak at the same pitch as an alto player's altisimo G.

  • hahahaha he looks like he is going to fall over any second!

  • me 2

  • i luv how the bass sax comes in

  • sweet dude!

  • I pity his back, the bass I played weighed 10 kilos :p. Great solo though!

  • BADASS

  • That kicks ass!

  • really good

  • This sax solo is simply GREAT! Bsso Sax rules the world! Paul you are great!

  • I'm giving that 5 stars

  • Jesus christ that's a big-ass sax. I play the alto, and a guy in my band has the baritone sax, but that thing dwarfs even the bari.

  • You should see a contrabass!!

  • looks like penis envy gone mad hahahaha

  • That solo starts out very nice. Later on, the phrases tend to be a little on the short side, what doesn't help to make it a cohesive musical statement. Please play bass saxophone more often, we need that!

  • Great Solo.

What Mouthpiece is this - Sounds great?!

  • DAMN! That is a hot solo. The bass sax rocks the universe!
