  • And theeeeeen???

  • Gary Lam is the best among Wong Shun Leung's disciples. Wan Kam Leung carried himself too high as the "most senior" disciple and now teaches his own modified "Practical Wing Chun". Clive Potter still uses the name of Wong Shun Leung to enhance his reputation. And Nino Bernado talks too much, really too much talking talking talking. Gary Lam is different, he taught Wing Chun in his own way, no longer depending on his teacher Wong Shun Leung's fame. Gary is the man.

  • @solaris5655 Well Wan Kam Leung had the written approval from WSL that he modified the art to suit his interpretation. Clive Potter teaches WSL style WC thats why he still uses his name. Clive is a nice guy and his skills are great actually. I don't see your personal distaste for those guys, they have excellent WC. They're all under the WSL family, keeping his ideas progressing and also teaching good WC for the masses, what else is there to be complaining about.

  • @papertiger7 you obviously have never spoken personally with Wan Kam Leung. if you are experienced Wing Chun and seek him for lessons (and not start from beginner level in his school), he talks down on you and your previous Wing Chun training. he criticizes "current" Wing Chun teachers and the "old" way. he is too much into himself, getting older and getting more arrogant. very hard to continue under him when you see his aloof face everyday.

  • @solaris5655 Well what was your prior training in WC with? Well current teachers do suck besides a handful of course. I've met Wan Sifu as well, and I got a very different impression of him. He was very welcoming and open when I went to his kwoon. I was a somewhat experienced Chunner at the time about 2 and half years under Gary Lam. I was in HK for a short stay and wanted to get additional training and I heard about him from a friend. I trained with him for a couple of months, he's excellent.

  • @papertiger7 Anyways, why do you still continue to train under him if you don't like him so much? I wouldn't be replying to your comment if I haven't met any of those guys you talked about, so don't make any assumptions about me.

  • @solaris5655

Well said. A lot of so called Wing Chun Sifu talk to much and they don't really practice what they preach.

If anything goes wrong, they will just bring up their Sifu's name or Si-gong's name. Oh I'm from whichever branch or my Sifu is Blah blah. It's just their way to justify their horrible skills.

Back in the 1960s when Yip Man is still alive, Wing Chun hardly lost much in any fights. But now a days we lost more than winning. Why? Too many fake sifus. All Talk, no skills

  • @darkstorm300 definitely....only talk, no skills

  • Very lovable sifu. I love the way he speaks...AND his belly. Awesome guy.

  • I dont rate him, a average boxer would be better.

  • @blkettlebell Did you know that Sifu Lam was also a Muay Thai champion?

  • @wingchuntiger74 i heard that many times but i have never seen his muay thai videos

can you please tell me where i can watch his muay thai fights `?

  • @oyamarovic Hello friend. I have to be honest, and say that I'm not exactly sure. I know that there are a lot of people who can vouch for the fact that he trained and competed. Sifu Lam is coming to visit my town next month, and I will ask him.

  • @wingchuntiger74 thank you very much

  • @oyamarovic My pleasure.

  • You can always spot the guys who've actually used their Wing Chun for real. Gary Lam is one of them! There are so many guys on youtube who's technique is so horrible, you can tell they've never used it before in any kind of realistic situation. Nice to see a true master like this.

  • His DVDs have helped me very much to deepen my understanding and improove my fighting. I recommend them with all my heart to anyone who is looking to improove.

  • Is Sifu Gary Lam based in southern California ?

His wing chun seems very authentic and practical.

  • @bigfatdick5000 i think he is in oakland califonia.

  • He's in Monterey Park, CA.
