None of you even recognized T-Bone Burnett on the guitar? Even know who he is? Sort of explains some of the other commentary. For the record, that arrangement was classic T-Bone Burnett, not Plant "doing his own thing".
he does his own thing...he wanted to do HIS music which ended up in the break up of led zep,,,personally i think he's much better especially in the 80's. same thing with the Police,,look at sting now..they just want to do thir own thing...i dont however like country music. Ack! i met Allison tho. she's way sweet. happens i live ub Nashville, ACK,,!
there is a certain bluegrass deliverance movie soundtrack vibe to this tune - sort of eerie and haunting. The original Led Zeppelin Black Dog riff sounds like a metal - bluegrass hybrid

4all the people in here who think Robert Plant had some flourishing career outside this projectHA! Sure. The guy is a has-been & sure he was happening..millennia ago. Let us not pretend that he is collaborating w/ some talentless nobody. This guy got lucky that Alison Krauss decided to work w/ him on an album, to give him the time of day. Alison Krauss keep singing with that angels voice of yours you still have years to go something I cant say for Plant, who's singing past his expiration date
Is Plant done with this crap yet? Please please please reuinite with Jimmy and John Paul and get the mighty Zep tour going before everybody including myself dies.
This crap?? Dude if you know anything about Led Zepplin and in particular Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, you'd know that there always was a STRONG folky element to Led Zepplin. Face it the "mighty Zep" are latent folkies. Man I TOTALLY get why Plant wants to do this instead of live in the past. C'mon the dude will be pushing 70 soon enough, this thing with Alison Kraus is the PERFECT showcase for what a truly talented singer he is.
She is adjusting the volume to her earbuds, which is necessary in the free flow of what is happening on stage. The control is behind her dress or blouse.
Also, she is conducting, so to speak, with hand signals. This is one smart lady who has spent her life in music. She is not just decoration, although she does that nicely too:)
She's signaling that his mic needs turned up whether just in her monitor or otherwise. She's letting the sound crew know she can't hear him well enough..
Ok, I draw the line at this. I'm all about digging their sound with most numbers, but bluegrassing-up "Black Dog"? No! It then sounds just like "Rich Woman" or another number on their album.
good for you, alot of people love zeppelin, but this is a disgrace to a zep song. no not saying im not open minded, i dont mind the strange sensations version. but my god blue grassing black dog is ridiculous. i can see them doing some songs like battle of evermore. or of the likes of that style. but black dog, up beat, fast rock song.
NO. plant turned softie, thats why he isnt going on this upcoming so called zep reunion if they are going to follow through w/ it.

T-Bone should be required to wear a shock collar while on stage.

I can't understand what is an angel like Alison, doing between a bunch of disgusting elders playing demoniac music before an urling crowd!
Alison! Please! Get away from all that! You are ruining your career!

LOL
He's the singer of Led Zeppelin. If anything he'll give her a career BOOST.
Also, this song is by no means "demonic" nor "demonic-sounding"...
