why do all these ppl have cars?? I get the kids whose parents pay for them but the ones who are complaining about their living costs should be on the bus OR riding a bike
tons of well paying jobs on engineering, law, medicine and dentistry (in other words, no-university life) but you people choose the easy way. Well, then don't complain and let immigrants make the money then
This why Obama's "Everyone has the right to a college education" is completely retarded, because not everyone can have six figure job, the world doesn't work that way...
the two rich kids in the movie are disgusting, but they are young. with time, their attitudes will probably change, especially if mom and dad turn the spickett off. I was much like them eight years ago at age 20. and quite frankly they are acting like your typical 20 21 year old who doesn't know whats around the corner. I cant say i dislike them for being naive
Spoiled rich kids.... Get yourself a nice drug addiction! Seriously...
On the other hand, an economy that lives on credits is doomed to fail. And what is wrong with recuperating stuff from your family? I have almost the whole kitchen from my mom, and I live in my own house! Don't see the problem. Money stinks when you don't know its value.
This documentary makes me sick, you should come interview a 22 year old living on his own for 4 years. Living paycheck to paycheck hoping he could afford college.
I don't get why people "hate all college kids that get their way paid for" by their parents. The few morons they show in this video aren't representative of all kids that had their way paid for them. I think it is a parent's responsibility to send their kids to college. It's also their responsibility to instill in their children a sense of the value of the dollar. My parents made me get a job the day I was legally allowed.
@dayingyang0 A paren;t responsibility isn't to send their kids to college. it;s to raise and nurture them to be healthy individuals of society. whether or not that involves college is another question.
@susupoosa - you're entitled to your opinion. However, I disagree. Part of raising and nurturing them is to ensure they're the most productive members of society they can be. That includes higher education and it's my responsibility to insure my children receive the best education they can have.
@dayingyang0 going to university doesnt just make you a produtive member of society. what about all the people who dont get a higher eucation?, yet they support the whole economy. im talking about mechanics, plumbers, electricians. Your right though, everyones entitle to their own opinion.
i personally consider myself very fortunate, but wow the dude with the shaved head; his parents are loaded. his parents are spending too much on him he needs a job or least spend less.
oh what a sweet heart his parents pay for everything and THESE KIDS DONT EVEN APPRECIATE IT!! if my dad or my parents could or even would! pay for that shit then id be cleanin my dads boots with my tounge
A person needs to live without money for a while to understand the world right. When someone always has everything they want they loose their appreciation for the good life. The good life is something to be earned and the harder it is to get there the better.
I do Freelance Jobs and occasionally work part time. enough to get me through college. and even pay for my own semester fees when times are good. The the College Loan Money? Took it out and tried to invest in something. Working and studying at the same time is just lifeless. Nothing comes easy though.
@MartijndeGraaf1001 exactly! current is pretty good for news, but even their perspective is tinged by capitalistic ideals. "We are a generation of spenders; not savers" ? yeah right, americans have had to borrow to stay alive since the end of ww II. Wake up people; it's all crumbling down on our heads!
Watch the guy at 9:36 .... just luxury items, over 30pr of sneakers, only $200, only $1000, only $400, just under $400, at least $200 ... self entitled rich PRICK. This is why America needs higher estate taxes...otherwise this guy will be able to continue living like this. Fuck I hate it when people say "just $x" or "only $x".
I am the guy with the tank top. I just work part-time save some money, get half from my parents and spend the rest on monster, millerlight, and online games. yes i dont have a girl friend. LOL
Why the hell did they pick some of these losers for this!?
Most students are hard working while going to school, no directions after graduation.
And why are some of these guys proud that their parents are taking care of them!?? They are piece of shits now thanks to being spoiled, and worth nothing!!
When I applied for my first college loan, my parents assured me not to worry because once I graduate I will find a job and it will pay itself off. That was 11 years ago and I am unemployed instead of having that dream job all my mentors promised, depressed with meds instead of married with children, and now $18,000 in debt.......
@GitanoRenegado its not just about saving or being savvy. its just shit happens..and sometimes u can lose ur job or get stuck with a school loan..etc..
I'm 18 and live at home. I'm doing a journalism degree part time and am looking for casual work. I receive support from my parents for car fuel and phone credit, and a very small amount of free use money a fortnight. I am immensely grateful for their support. Sometimes they hand out money to me. But I don't spend money on things I don't need, like $400 shades. I have utmost respect for those who have to support themselves to survive and really do it tough, knowing that'll be me in a few years.
That girl thinks 20k/yr isn't enough for a single, childless person to live on??? And she pays under 400/mo in rent??? What the fuck is she spending on? Idiot!
Not sure how to relate to this myself; because I was told to stay clean about my finances even above material desires like HD, iPod, etc, most debt I HAD was student loan with about $3500. Otherwise lay low financially.
stick those living off mommy & daddy scumbags, cut em loose to fend for themselves on the streets.!00%wont last a week, they need a harsh lesson in reality...those people make me sick.i've been homeless with nothing but a survival instinct, had to do alot of suffering to get to the below poverty level.i've stretched that 400 bucks that asshole dropped on glasses over a few months.the rich get richer the poor stay poor.i've never had a credit card, forget paycheck to paycheck ive lived hour to hour
Anyone who gets credit on stuff that "i want' knowing he won't be able to pay up is an idiot, complete moron. If I don't have the money to buy something I want I don't buy it, simple. Buy only what 'you need' and you won't have problems. Some people are such retards...I don't pity them at all.
In the 1950's (USA) a typical working man with nothing more than a high school diploma could support a family. Yeah, buy your own home, drive a new car, take nice vacation every year AND the wife could stay home and actually raise her own children and keep the house together. Stereotypical 50's household was a pretty good way to live...
continued- Now both parents work, many rent instead of buy, new cars are a luxury; college doesn't guarantee an escape from our tight predicament. "Good old days" had their problems though but life truly was simpler. I'm no communist but we are coming closer to "class warfare" than at anytime in my 50+ years of living. Could you just imagine a Janitor supporting a wife and kids, buying his own home, buying a new car every 4 years, taking a nice vacation every year all on a Janitor's pay??
continued2- In 2010 a Janitor would need a room mate and/or a 2nd job just to live in a tiny apartment. New car would be out of the question. Expensive vacations would be the thing of dreams. In 1957 a Janitor lived better than most families do now, and that's with TWO college grads working full time jobs. The US middle class has been dead for 3 decades if "middle class" is determined by the same factors and standards from 1957. We will be OK, it's just fond memories for us older Americans.
I relate. 20 years old accepted into art school for illustration. can't move cause cost of living is too steep. Instead I'm delivering pizzas for a year just so I can get past the poverty line. The system has grown weak and uncertain.
Sooo...wait, the two people with law degrees - it never said whether or not they passed the bar exam...kinda a big part of getting a job in a law firm, eh?
yes, yes it is... kind of curious that they make so little also. idk, when i watch this i think about how i'm going to surpass my parents... im doing well right now, and i think that it will definitely be possible, but of course it will take hard work and determination.
those 2 lawyers complaining about money have their 3 kids in a private school?! did i hear that right?! the school system in new braunfels tx isnt that bad! whats wrong with the public schools there? they have worse public schools in Austin! gimme a break!
haha, i was thinking the same damn thing. i'm from texas, and i know people who live in new braunfels... wtf... they have their kids in private school.... wtf.
i think the general population is very easy to decieve their perception is so shaped and formed by media, population, religion, etc that there is really no hope they will ever realize it or even be able to change it during their natural lifespan
@MindlessExcess I hate the fact certain academic institutions primarily endorse sports rather than education, but what are we gonna do? Our eyes are just mesmerized by pretty big bright lights!
@MattyTheMole Next time we really need our biologists, physicists, and chemists we will realize WTF where are they?? O don't worry we have Twilight, LeBron James, and Tiger Woods instead!!!
@MindlessExcess My mom pays for my college but shit she is obviously just trying to help me go legit. Consider I just got out of Prison. I completely understand why people have to work AND go to school.... If my parents didn't help me than shit I'd be on the street and if I'm on the street then I'm slangin blow so trust me I get it.
No holy shit. When I see these guys, I think I'm living the american dream, in Romania, wich is one of the worst countrys. I'm 25, without any debt, bought a BMW a few years back with cash, and now planning to buy an apartment without loan, and with minimal help from my parents. For my BMW I have worked two summers in NY,while in collage, so I know that you can earn good money in the US,but it's all about the living standards.I've shared a room, and had two jobs. You cant make a living, being lazy!
I thought it was a decent mix of students in this show. It would of been nice to have one like my upbringing: Worked to pay for college since I was 12. Never to go red. Almost never to buy anything not marketed down. To be brought up to save, mend your own clothes, fix your own clunker of a car, etc. This would of been a nice contrast. Living thrifty has its downsides as well.
No wonder they are in debt, they only think of comfort instead of truly being thrifty. They just complain that they don't have money, well all of those sneakers and sunglasses could be sold on ebay and like seriously get a decent job instead of trying to pursue an impossible dream(i.e. partying all day).
how depressing...credit cards can buy you nice things but it is your enemy....especially in this economy. I've always been against CC and always will. If I don't have money in my account to pay for it I refuse to get it...whatever it might be.
@Bogglenoggin He'll have to face reality eventually. Even if mom and dad support him for way too many years and then die in a freak accident leaving him with a huge inheritence, he'd blow it quick and be forced to deal with it.
If I had any idea of what raising 3 kids is like, then maybe I could say something about it. It must be difficult and very time-consuming, the sort of investment that requires a long and continuous commitment. Still in my opinion, it seems that unlike other sorts of investment, this one doesn't always fit previously established planning.
But I don't have any real experience there, so all that may be just rubble.
i hate this! if you cant afford your life why the fuck did you have 3 kids?! why? why? why? and who cares about the grocery bills, the couple are both fat as hell. they could afford to go broke! LOL
You are either very young or very stupid. There are people who were doing well at one point who had kids, lost their jobs and now can hardly making it. Pull your head out of your bum and get a clue.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
And you're a cunt-faced little whore. And you're probably fat too, which is far worse than being a cunt-faced whore. Which you are. Remember? Yeah, you remember. How could you not? You have to get up and look in the mirror and see that GIANT cunt you have for a face. But it comes in handy, right? I mean, it must be far more convenient for servicing multiple men at any one time. That means extra money. And in the case of a whore, like you and your mother, that's as good as anything. Stupid fuck.
Why does everyone tell kids law school's such a good idea? Most lawyers hate their jobs. The fat Texas hausfrau isn't starving--and why did both she AND her husband go to law school of it meant 100K in debt for BOTH, and they already have 3 kids???
USC kid: you are seriously just...irresponsible and the reason why everyone thinks our generation is going to turn into complete panic and chaos. And while your bar technique was smart, it's also scamming off others. Thanks for being irresponsible.
Oh don't worry, i realize the most influential people in our nation are scam artists, but that doesn't mean he should be advertising it. That's one of the least things to be proud of.
@saikasha712 The USC kid makes me sick. It's like other people work so hard just to make ends meet with no support from rich mommies and daddies. He lives a life of excess and is like not even cognizant of what the real world is like!

unoism 1 year ago

Living thrifty has its downsides as well.
darebet64 2 years ago

@Bogglenoggin I bet his parents still wipes his ass too.

That was awesome, really good show. Does anyone know the name of the song played at the end of the video ?

Why does everyone tell kids law school's such a good idea? Most lawyers hate their jobs. The fat Texas hausfrau isn't starving--and why did both she AND her husband go to law school of it meant 100K in debt for BOTH, and they already have 3 kids???

USC kid: you are seriously just...irresponsible and the reason why everyone thinks our generation is going to turn into complete panic and chaos. And while your bar technique was smart, it's also scamming off others. Thanks for being irresponsible.

everyone scams. if you think honest people are the movers and shakers in our society, I have to say you are in for a rude awakening.
sailoveshanna 2 years ago 2
Oh don't worry, i realize the most influential people in our nation are scam artists, but that doesn't mean he should be advertising it. That's one of the least things to be proud of.
saikasha712 2 years ago
@saikasha712 The USC kid makes me sick. It's like other people work so hard just to make ends meet with no support from rich mommies and daddies. He lives a life of excess and is like not even cognizant of what the real world is like!
