The MIRACLES are 4-time inductees into the Grammy Hall of Fame, which is a special Grammy award established in 1973 to honor recordings that are at least twenty-five years old, and that have "qualitative or historical significance." As of 2011, The Miracles have more Grammy Hall of Fame inducted songs than any other Motown group.
R.I.P. to original Miracles member Marvin "Marv" Tarplin (Top Center at 1:20) -June 13, 1941 – September 30, 2011 Chosen as one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists and songwriters of ALL TIME by Britain's MOJO music magazine. A winner of the ASCAP AWARD OF MERIT, THE BMI SONGWRITERS AWARD , and recieved a STAR with the rest of THE MIRACLES on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME Marv....you will be missed !!!
@someone481 MARV TARPLIN just died on September 30th of this year (2011).Marv can be seen at top center at 1:07. Two original Miracles are now gone, and the latest word is that BOBBY ROGERS (UPPER LEFT AT 1:07) is not doing well.
The very early days!!! Smokey was still perfecting his song writing skills. Smokey was already writing but he really didnt take off until Barry Gordy took him under his wing. By the time Tamla/Motown was in business, Smokey really took off...AND THE REST IS HISTORY!!
Recorded originally for George Goldner's End label before Motown was formed. When Berry Gorder got the royalty check from Goldner for a whopping $19,it provided motovation to start Motown
