wow! nice tutorials. despite the fact that you arent very fluent with english, u still managed to bring the ideas across rather clearly. Arigatou gozaimasu!!
Thank you for showing us how to throw a knife. The technique you use give me the impression that there is not much force in the throw. Is it practise of the speed i move my arm that will increase force in the throw? Can this way of throwing be as forcefull as with throwing a knife with spin?
a ninja (from wat i was taught) was a samuri who was sent to be exicuted for failing in his dutys, he would escape and flee into small outer villages in japan and eventually the samuri would stop looking 4 him then he would train and craft his own weapons to sell him self as a assasin, if u would like more info message me or look up ninjitsu or sensai hatsumi (the last living ninja) in youtube
The cause that your Knife causes a rotary motion has more than one.
Please exclude some of next factor.
1-Movement of arm is not linear.
2-There are too many snap motions of a wrist and a finger.
3-The timing which a weapon divides from a hand is too(or little) slow. Therefor please move a position of a posture backward in order to make up for stroke length of that purpose.
In other words timing to throw is easy to become late if your knife position of a posture forward
what he means is that if the wooden construction is dirupted, it means that your arm is moving too low and that it is pretty much a meter to help you correct the angle of your arm and throw. it looks as it is placed just below shoulder level.
houzan-sensei, i have a small question if u do not mind. where did u purchase the knives that u have/ I tried performing throwing knife arts with a switchblade but the handle started to break.
thznk you sensei, i will purchase a pair of throwing knives this Wednesday that fit your description. Also if you have the time, could you view my video and see if i'm doing well? any advice would be beneficial.
what kind of targets do you use and how do you make thm if you do cause i use styrofoam and it bounced a shuriken back and stick it in my nein and i lost alot of blood and dont want it to happen again
all of my knives have went out of balance, they have already bent and some broken. i can throw a knife straight but when i try to throw one at leats 25 feet, it always spins out of control....
Thanks for sharing this interesting technique! I've never seen this way of knife throwing before... it's always nice to learn new things. I can imagine that this technique is quite useful and practical.
Please enjoy a lot of no-spin Shuriken throwing with high speed camera.

-1-
To all,
Please never use "chopsticks"
It may hurts your arm.
When I say rightly, it is "ligament or tendon" instead of muscle.
If you hurt this structure,it becomes necessary about 1 to recover.
When the human who trained enough muscle force threw chopsticks, they hurt an arm.
It depends on "simple reason of medicine"
On the other hand, the person who throws metal Shuriken with a enough weight, they invent a strong force only by the polished skill without using power.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
-2-
An expert of Japanese superior Shuriken Masters says in this way by all means.
"Secret of Shuriken is not muscle force"
Of course, it is not by willpower or not by Qigong.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
3-
Because ChosonNinja is philistinism,
he does not know "Why there is a case to be damaged ligament suddenly"
For example, in Sports player of field-and-track events trained very much,
or pitcher of Major League or a Boxer.
Use too much of muscle force is not cause.
In other words "it is useless even if you strengthen a muscle"
It is a big mistake that ChosonNinja says.
He shows the borrowed skill to a You-Tube user without knowing the danger.

how many years have you spent throwing shurikens? when did you first start?
eAlobre 3 years ago
It is 2002 since 1999
I threw Shuriken of Japanese old age.
I watched the actuality that progress of people was slow.
It is 2007 since 2003
I dismantled past technique fundamentally and extracted only a necessary factor.
I produced 600 Shuriken experimentally in order to arrange a physical theory in the meantime.
I made the approach how a Westerner was thrown without using a base motion of Japanese martial arts.

interesting. I like the limitations. Perhaps I try this.

No.
Ninja Ninjutsu Sinobi
These name is peculiar to it in Japanese culture.
It is brand only of Japan all over the world.
On the other hand, conception and a definition of Ninja are wider.
In addition, history of Japanese Ninjutsu is very complicated.
There are truth and false both there.
There is not Ninja which you seem to think about in Japan.
It was exterminated several hundred years ago.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
There are merely only "Ninja school" now.
According to my pronouncement, there are a really few people understanding about history of Japanese Ninjutsu in European and American people.
We cannot see into the true history that even a Japanese does not research a great many literatures.
You(we) cannot understand it in Japanese book that translated English, and by comics and by anime.

Does this technique work with the western--style knives?
tomazco 3 years ago
Yes.
But it is decided by "a design" of Western knife.
Knife without a protrusion thing is ideal for a position between blade and handle.
In other words I suggest that you use Western "throwing knife".
I think that the knife which resembled balance explaining in my video is available.
However, I offer that you search it by oneself in store instead of purchase by on-line.

HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
4-Balance of center of gravity of knife and Shuriken is bad for No-spin(quarter spin) throwing.
In other words a flexing of a motion when you(we) throw ball of baseball is memorized to us.
You have to get rid of some of those habit for No-spin.

houzan sensei, what does the wooden table like thing on your table do? does it serve a specific purpose in knife throwing arts?
kuramaschrader 3 years ago
I collected it in DVD why I did the practice that used a obstruction of such a table.
It is technical, and it does not talk in You-tube because it is a story to need long exposition.
Please regard it as a way to correct a movement of arm in this video.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
what he means is that if the wooden construction is dirupted, it means that your arm is moving too low and that it is pretty much a meter to help you correct the angle of your arm and throw. it looks as it is placed just below shoulder level.

kuramaschrader 3 years ago
A knife of the type which seems to be Switchblade knives is not ideal.
They are made with the parts that construction is delicate.
Therefore I suggest you a knife of the strong construction which seem to be a Throwing knife.

what kind of targets do you use and how do you make thm if you do cause i use styrofoam and it bounced a shuriken back and stick it in my nein and i lost alot of blood and dont want it to happen again
xialong123 3 years ago
At first please "do not set distance to throw first in less than 12 feet".
The possibility which a knife bounces back on by distance of 12 feet is low.
An end please use target absorbing impact.
Target of tree such as European and American knife throwing is perfect(In case of outdoors).
The target which I use is Japanese heating floor mat made with hay(Tatami). It is general target in Japan. Of course, it is scrap.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
thanks i throw indoors in my basementand learned by watching your videos thanks for the help Houzan
xialong123 3 years ago
It is not necessary to use chopsticks when people practice it indoors.
You may use big knife and shuriken.
But when you do a practice in the interior of the room safely, Please hang a towel with thickness before target.
A differential gap is necessary 2 inch or 3 inches between target and towels at this time.
In addition, please spread a carpet and matte in a floor.
In this way then there is a few that a knife bounces back.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
However, detailed exposition is necessary for this practice method.
It uploads video sometime.
___Please never do it only by this exposition___
There is not a practice to use chopsticks for in Mumyou-ryu.
Because it may occur in trouble in your arm or elbow.
HouzanSuzuki 3 years ago
i use 10 inch boshurikens made by 1/4 inch round bar and coton cord wrap for handle

sasuke2483692 4 years ago
It is your greatest lesson to think about the reason in your thought.
My style demands that "think by oneself" from someone else.
This video series includes enough information about an approach of No-spin already.
Road of there depends on your understanding and practice.
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
You teach simple and well. I like this way of throwing. Thankyou
KXrhyder547 4 years ago
limiting the arm movement line made a huge difference for
me.
2entytwelve 4 years ago 2
I think that distance of your throwing was remoted, by my guess.
And your sword grew "not turn before".
Of course, after you have just finished throwing, then your hand may fall down below.

can you make a video on how to hold the knife?
assassin42393 4 years ago
If it is possible,
at first, please upload the scene which you throw and you hold a knife.
I cannot explain that I do not watch your throwing.
Because there is it individually by, a position of a center of gravity of a knife when it is slightly different.
But both most Shuriken and a knife do the durability that resembled.
It is explained in a first beginning DVD of "Basic exercise" that you have.
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
There are two cases which there is not in the durability that I explained in other animation of "How to throw".
When a sword is long more than 30cm.
When a sword is shorter more than 20cm.
There are some these methods to be settled in case of two.
But explanation about it becomes complicated contents, therefore I do not explain it this time.
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
I am not the the martial artss, basically.
I am one researcher in a lot.
Therefore I do not deny throwing-weapon as sports and a dart game.
In addition, I do not deny throwing weapon as martial arts of the actual fighting.
I do not deny culture of tradition either.
I do not deny throwing-weapon it of creation of the present age either. BUT,,,
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
My denying being the only one is,
It is a human being of manner to shout that "a thing except my [or our] system is a Mistake!!".
There are such "people to prejudice" against in Japan in great numbers.
This stupid phenomenon closely resembles "the psychological cause that religious prejudice produces" and an emergency.
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
Not limited topic to throw Shuriken and a knife, It is anything, and there be it, things include "a mistake and correctness".
However, it is always born only in the discussion which "made a specific premise clear".
In the logic of throwing, when we tell them, "a premise condition" is always indispensable.
In other words there is it whether it is in the logic in "what kind of situation".
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
It is an honor to be able to learn from an authentic Warrior such as yourself!
sacredfiredojo 4 years ago
We have to throw out a knife into more fast slightly than "general knife throwing" by one-turn or half-spin.
Distance to arrive progresses when you change a position starting exercise "backward".
And knife become turns when move your arm by "orbit of an arc", therefore arm should be moves more straight.
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
I wrote "another important thing"
in a comment column of
"How to throw knives by No-spin 03:41"
Those are the "Most Important Logic" of my No-spin throwing.
How to throw knives by No-spin,
how to make form for balance,
and how to hold in your hand.
HouzanSuzuki 4 years ago
This pictures is only "one exercise method".
This is a method for revise "a habit" that your arm "turn in a circle".
Actually, just like my many pictures until now,
when I have finished my throwing, my arm falls down.
Therefore, your arm does not "move Completely straight".
This method is "one of Exercise" to remove a habit that your arm moves in a circle.
