Amen, Senator Obama. The best my dad ever did medically was in the VA Medical System. He almost didn't survive the private medical system. The quality of care declined over time in each of the private facilities he was in. My mom was not treated very well during this process. He passed away this week after a 2 year catastrophic illness. The VA in Maryland did an outstanding job with his care. More services are needed indeed for our vets - especially vent units.

I understand that Barack may be aiming for a sense of authenticity by seeming to give unprepared answers, but he instead comes across as hesitant and, well, not so well prepared. He starts by thanking the serviceman who asks the question but his answer, showing sincerity, good manners instincts, but does not highlight gratitude coherently or effectively enough as the policy-driving principle in his answer. In other words, his answers need to be clearer and more direct.

On the contrary...I am the man who posed the question, and his answers were right on point, at least in my opinion. He knows the pros and cons of the VA healthcare system and was able to speak intelligently about them, and this was a much clearer and more direct response than the one I received from Clinton's Senior Healthcare Policy Advisor...hands down.

A veteran says the Hillary Camp gave an unsatisfactory answer to VA healthcare question.

It would have been a perfect opportunity to sttack Clinton, but no, Obama just outlines what's good and what's bad with the VA on a PRACTICAL level, and outlines exactly what he would do to improve it.

This is exactly why he will be President. After a while opponents would look stupid trying to attack him, and will instead try to work WITH him to solve problems.
