  • should the N side be longer than W side

  • whats the name of the knot that tom uses in 500 days of summer,it looks like a square knot

  • Very good, instructional video!!! Keep going on! I love very much this knot and thanks to your tutorial i learn it in few seconds! :D

  • Is it just me, but i feel that pratt knot is highly similar to half windsor knot

  • Man, people can be so ungrateful. At least he took the time to show us how to tie a tie. I'm new with the wonderful world of tie knots, but the end result is that I am just glad I am able to tie my tie without the need of a clip on.

  • is it the windsor knot ?

  • Cool knot. I had to find a different way to tie a tie for homework, thanks for making it easier! :-)

  • I would guess that Tom Hagen has a victorian/prince albert knot in that scene that's just tied extremely extremely extremely tight...it looks too long to be a traditional 4 in hand so the extra wrap around would probably make that knot. I know the Italian tie knot is just a 4 in hand that's played with to get it more asymmetrical. Hope that helps.

  • maybe you can help me out,I'm looking for a tie knot which makes the knot stand really out forward. Can be seen in the godfather part I on Tom Hagen(Robert Duval) as he meets Kay Adams. Anyone knows which knot it is?

  • this is more helpful than the tia a tie video

  • Makes it look so easy.

  • Pretty sure that's just a full windsor

  • full windsor doesn't start with the tie with the seam out, nor end with the short, back tail out

  • thanks mate, this is rly helpful

  • AUTOMATIC GENTLEMAN'S TIE DIMPLE! Thanks for the video.

  • finnaly!.this video deserves an oscar

  • FINALLY! AFTER 1000 videos this one worked! nice angle, slow i tied my tie!

  • this vid was awesomeeee! pplz try to do da four in hand knot it is da simplest knot evr!

  • best youtube tie a tie video ever, thanks for sharing that

  • i tried to wear this tie and it is one of the best knots i have ever done. looks so good.

  • Simple, symmetric, looks good. My favorite :)

  • how is this not a half windsor?

  • In a half-Windsor, the tie isn't inverted.

  • Will for one its a reverse knot. You start with the seam facing out. Even when you are done with the tie, if you were to lifted up the fat end exposing the narrow end underneath, you would see that the narrow side seam is still facing out (away from your chest.)

  • anyone know the one that brad pit does in oceans 11 where he just wraps it around both hes hands or something and does it in like 2 seconds???

  • that man has the smoothest hand action I have ever seen in my life.

  • I've met me with smoother hand actions

  • This is the only knot I have ever learned. I've never bothered to learn any other knot. It's almost "muscle memory" that I automatically just do this knot without even thinking.

  • fucking easy and very aesthetical

  • they all do look the same just different names

  • this knot is actually a lot more symetrical than some of the others.

  • is this the way james bond ties his tie in quantum of solace?

  • they all look the same

  • Thanks! Thankfully i haven't had to wear a tie at work in ages, and i always preferred this much simpler version to the Windsor. I just needed a mental refresher, and this vid did the trick, so thanks!

  • How is a man with no head putting a tie on?

  • With his hands

  • looks like a Mens dress shirt

  • The smartest knot imho.

  • Thank you very much. Your videos helped me a lot, and I get the knots on the first try. I think I'll use this one from now on.

  • hmmm. i like this knot. i think i may have to change... or incorporate it

  • Does anyone know what type of shirt is in this video?

  • White Button-up?

  • Looks like a spread collar.

  • @Nikkin07 It's a dress shirt with a spread collar (as opposed to the more common "point collar"). The tips of a spread collar are hidden when wearing a jacket or blazer, and thus makes it more formal.

  • This is my favorite knot. I use it the most.

  • SAD

  • this is a nice knot..but every time I take the skinny end out to loosen it the knot doesn't unravel like windsor knots..am I doing something wrong or is that how its supposed to be?

  • The pratt knot doesn't unravel, so you have to open it carefully :).

  • i noticed 2 diferent knots on here that were tied the same the 1/4 and the vicorian

  • shut up

  • gues some people just cant leave it alone hahaha

  • i prefer it wen the dimple is perfectly center

  • i hate dimples

    everyone has their own preference

  • i like dimples on women.

  • afferrer, you do realize that all tie knots are SUPPOSED to have the dimple. When you see someone wearing a tie with no dimple, you know he just graduated from college.

  • if you see someone complaining about a tie with no dimple...

    ...you know he's gay.

  • I adore the dimple of the Pratt knot...I usually tie Full Windsors when I dress but the Pratt's dimple is Oooo!!!_[[i luv ties}}

  • they do look the same (almost) but they aren't tied the same :D

  • thanks, I know how to tie one now!

I'm playing the role of an Anonymous Townsfolk Husband/dad in the play, but I'm a girl, so this really helped me. XD

  • um am i stupid or does all these different types of knots look they same?

  • i thought that too, but apparently the windsors are more symmetrical, the four-in-hand is asymmetrical, and this doesn't seem like it looks so clean haha

  • this video really helped me out...God bless whoever made this 1!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can get rid of the dimple under the knot with proper "fiddling" which creates a really sweet looking tie. This is By far my favorite knot and I think the four in hand has got to go.

  • This is my favorite knot. I'm 6'5 and I love the Windsor and half Windsor but they use so much tie for the knot, this gives you symmetry, a very nice dimple, excellent shape and size, and uses less tie for taller guys like me.

  • Isn't this basically the half-windsor inverted though?

  • Amen fellow giant!

  • Awi66,

Thank you very much for taking the time and effort to make this and many other tie knot videos. I am very impressed. The style is unique and allows for a clean presentation of the subject matter. I have two problems - 1) I have great difficulty seeing the tyng and 2) the image presented is clean but hard to translate into muscle movements on my end.

Please keep making the videos. You might just amp the lights up substantially and that would be positive for all viewers.

  • i looked up mi name 'shelby' and THIS popped up!! R U kidding me!? well, i learned how to tie a tie! i can wear one to skool now! and yes yes! i AM a girl!

  • Very very nice. Not as complicated as the full Windsor and looks very stylish. I meddled with my tie for about an hour today and I'm very good at it now. Thanks for the great video!!!

  • thanks, trying the windsor for your first knot is a nightmare lol even with the great vid :(

  • Thankyou for this video. It helped a lot. Much easier than the stupid windsor knot. I REALLY hope I can get away without wearing a tie to my proper career job. so bloody annoying.

  • omgg....this person whoeer put this saved my life...after the second try i got it!

  • I don't think that this one is selfreleasing. The Nicky tie seems pretty much the same, but with selfreleaser which makes it easier to put off when not needed.

  • You're correct. A keen observation! :-)

  • Flawless and simple. Thanks a million.

  • your an american hero

  • But he's not American, he's Norwegian...

    Talking of which:

Avvi66, is there any chance that your website might be translated into English any time soon? I visited, and it all looked really cool (I'm a bit of a dandy and love dressing to kill), but I'm afraid my Norwegian doesn't go past "hvordan gar det?"

  • Takk bare bra!

Actually I was born in NY by norwegian parents and moved back to Norway very young. But I still have two passports, though I do define myself today as Norwegian (but no one could know that, could they?) :-)

I think it's great that the site is interesting outside our borders. The brits have allways been a beacon of style for us norwegians.

  • We do have concrete plans of making an english speaking version of our site (no deadline yet). It will be in a disinct norwegian flavor. Mainly for expats in Norway, but loaded with international rules and inspiration. Thanks for the feedback from you, and all the commentors. It warms...

  • Well, when you do finally get it all set up in English, I will definitely be subscribing to your mailing list. You have some excellent stuff on there.

  • so it turns out he is american... Yahtzee!!!

  • He's both. Monopoly!!!

  • your an american hero

  • love then knot, thank you for the help

  • thanx! this is the knot for me!

  • Thanks for the video! Some websites try to sell tie-a-tie videos for $3.99 a piece! What a joke...

  • Nice video, i got it the first time.

  • Thanks, atleast a tie i can tie:-D

  • A perfect, day to day business knot! Thank you for this tutorial... BRAVO!
