I never saw them live but I saw a video with them outdoors (art video "festival")with this song and I just realised that I have recreated that beat in my music but in 11-beat with a loop in taperecorder
memory kinda fuzzy now,but support was acr and spk ,kinda just make out my mate rupert dancing,me i was sat under a table left of stage.also remember the glory holes in mens loos.
Silly comment by me. I guess they were not too happy about the "industrial music" that later came and I wasn't either, but it does not matter much now ... . I do not think they thought of themselves as "inventors" of that genre, but it would not have happened like it did without them. also they used ordinary instruments (+self-made synths).
My comment was a bit silly ... but I do not think they thought of it as if they were inventing of what came to be called "industrial music" -- specifically, they used ordinary instruments and their intention was obviously not to sound as if they were making noise for the sake of it, but simply their way of expressing themselves. I think they (Industrial records) joked about "industrial music for industrial people" and then other got hooked on this label.
Even though they did invent industrial, I will have to admit that SPK pulled off the whole "Industrial" sound better than TG (Though both are great, although SPK went down the shitter when they made "Metal Dance")
As for Psychic TV, I only downloaded their earliest releases & all I can say is that they're enjoyable
Metal Dance was relesed as single with Will To Power B-Side and I enjoyed it very much but after they relesed Machine Age Voodoo they became realy worthless to me.
PTV first two albums are realy greate. There is more good moments in their history but they relesed so much material...
agreed, IMO SpK cleared us how to define industrial... the noisy industrial and the rythmic industrial (even tough Cabaret voltaire was before them)..
Sure, sure. SPK can be classified to be as hardcore. BUT, if you really want some badass musik, then think of Monte Cazazza, Thomas Leer & Robert Rental, and Leather Nun...I love SPK though. Big fan, and owner of all their albums. Slogun!
I agree. Psychic TV disapointed me a lot, compared 2 TG - Industrial music is what people make out of it. Otherwise it's just a terminus to discribe a certain style of music.
i dont like it when people are angry about what graeme did! is it forbidden to earn money? he developed himself and his music - why not? and i think a lot of his soundtrack works are very interesting as well. i think its silly when some people talk about him like the judas of industrial music...
Gruß an alle
Excellent words, Leitmotivation. Another thing I can`t abide is all these people saying "I was there", when the reality was (believe me, I WAS there, seeing them live twice)TG played many gigs to just a handful of people. But to be honest, seeing them live was not a pleasurable experience!
Me too! To see SPK perform again seems quite impossible, since Graeme Revell makes a lot of money with his Hollywood soundtracks, living in a big villa in L.A.
TG is possible to see this year! There are performing in France, Spain and maybe in Greece soon.
Now exiled perv & wannabe cult leader GPO acting like a retarded monkey. There was always so much better so-called "industrial", during and after this. I never liked his stuff, and it was to Tutti & Carter's benefit to break away from this weirdo. They actually showed they could make music in that genere. CTI
"Better" is not much of a point...you mean likable? I like it. Can you imagine GPO saying "Come on! Let's just go out there and give 'em the best darn music we can within our chosen genre--industrial. Are you ready boys?" "Weirdo" is spot on, though. Thank God we don't have to be like him.
Hey,i was wrong too- since i have audio cd's from both Manchester and London,it's clear it must be Heaven in London because this version haven't got the unique distorted vocal introduction ,where people from the audience shout that they don't understand ...
Great version, though so far nothing's come close to the complete unabridged version at Kezar. I just hope he can still scream like this in his post-transformation state.

In case someone did not know -- they did not play "industrial music". And God how boring Psychic TV was ... .
eyelessjerry 3 years ago
Yes, Psychic TV were boring.
But why did TG played not Industrial? They are the "inventors" of that music genre, among Cabaret Voltaire and SPK.

Well, I think many groups had their input with what later became Industrial. After all, lets not forget about Neubauten!

Sorry but SPK suckssss, listen Slug Bait, the song! In my opinion SPK, CAbaret sucks. KMFDM and EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN are better

no matter what all these people say industrial music wouldnt exist the way it does now if Genesis P-O was never a member of Throbbing Gristle

Very true. It's funny how so many pseudo-intellectual tightasses look up bands they hate, just to leave negative comments about them.
