  • When I was younger, I saw the little girl on the playbill and thought, 'What does this have to do with anything?" After reading the book and seeing the musical when it came to Philadelphia, I understand the beauty of Victor Hugo's novel. Les Miserables has honestly changed my life, and it's amazing how closely the musical parallels the novel.

  • I think this Javert has Napolean Syndrome. . . . . tehee

  • This is top notch-performing. I'm extremely impressed, which is hard to do.

  • I don't know if he ever has, but the guy who is playing Valjean could play him in London or any professional production if he wanted to.

  • It amuses me unnecessarily that Javert is shorter than Valjean.

    I love what I see.

  • great vocies but wrong unaform looks more amercan revalution then french biship looks more like a cardnal

  • great vocies but wrong unaform looks more amercan revalution then french

  • Definitely didn't expect this much from a high school. Well done, just.. wow. I love it.

  • big hat

  • @gracesimma huge!!!

  • @simofficer

i think his hat is bigger than his head.

  • Dude..I want to go to your HS! Our Theater department is impossible...

  • My high school is doing this this year and I'm in the orchestra for violin. The music is challenging but is well worth the slog. I can't wait for showtime!

  • @annabellyfullofjelly My highschool is doing this as well, but next year. I'm going to be in the orchestra for the cello. But my school never gives the orchestra enough time to practice because they don't give us the music. So when the time comes for performances, we don't sound as good as we could. I am looking forward to doing this musical though. The music sounds very interesting. Definitely better than the musical we just did.

  • I never thought a high school play could send shivers down my spine. Your voices are amazing. My high school plays couldn't even compare to this.

  • AMAZING!! That's all I have to say. :D

  • omg... javert looks like a cartoon character

  • I'm auditioning for Eponine this Wednesday at my school! Wish Me Luck!

  • lol Jean Valjean was like some mad man lost in the forrest

  • I am amazed, wonderful performance. Who's the boy that sings "How long, my Lord, before you let me die?" His voice is piercing, making my heart tremble, I don't know why...

  • stage potato

  • This is one hell of a performance. Great voices, great production, great costumes. Everybody is so talented! It's hard to believe this is in a high school. I wish my highschool could do this, I'm very addicted to this musical. This is a BEAUTIFUL setup! Favorited :)

  • I Saw this in person. Blake puts on insane productions.

  • I like how this person who is singing the role of Valjean is NOT trying to duplicate any of the professional performers.

  • this is my favorite musical!

Hopefully I'll be able to be in it someday:)

    If I get lucky.

I have the French original version to this!

    Its like awsome :)

  • This one gotta be one of, maybe the, best high school production Ive seen. Amzing voices! And great costumes too.

  • Stunning! I only hope that the rest of the performace gets posted someday. It is such a joy to see young talent given such obvious encouragement and direction, and a forum to blossom. To all of you, my thanks for sharing this...truly a genuine privilege to watch. I look forward to seeing you all in the future wherever such talent will surely take you.

  • The vocals of these actors are simply fantastic.

  • pretty good for a High School performance!

  • I like how Stacato Javert is. Very....apropriate the role. I am so impressed that this is a high school. I wish my school would do this. But the district wont allow it. "Not school appropriate." I hate it. Oh well it's probobly for the better. I'm a girl and I would probobly sing Javert better than anny of the boys. LOL. THE FIRST FEMALE BARITONE THATS ME!!!! I'm not to bad either. Allot of people enjoy it when I sing Stars. Um. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!!!!!!!!!

  • @spiritfox1991 Are you really a female baritone? If so, that is really cool.

  • amazing jean valjean! great voice!

  • @ BrattyMaddy. Amen to that!

my highschool sews its own costumes & makes it own sets.

This wouldnt be a problem if anyone in my school had a shred of artistic talent.

  • Dear God! My high school was so underfunded. i see stuff coming out of these suburban high schools. it amazes me. Look at their costumes! In our plays the students wore regular clothes and like paper hats.

  • Excellent! So amazing. I love the Jean Valjean, whoever he is.

  • this looks like it could be on broadway amazing

  • wow! amazing! :D

  • Kearny High School did this play this year 2010 it waz great i went last night it waz the last day so i watched it. i loved it but i got scared cuz it waz so loud when it waz soo quiet but it takes 2nd cuz the Wedding Singer is the best and it takes 1st place in my list!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kearny High School did this play this year it was sooooooo cool i waz there fodr 3 nights seeing it over and over but i got scared cuz i waz contcetrated then someone yelled then i waz like wat jsut happen it waz teh most greatest play but the Wedding Singer takes 1st place in my last place

  • Kearny High School did the same thing i watched all three nights it waz so cool but i got scared when they started shouting i waz like wat just happen cuz it waz so soothing then boom came out that voice

  • omg how out of place does the Bishop's costume look!

Really good, think the guy playnig Valjean did a great job of hitting 'flight'. Know id of passed out trying it :P.

Think the guy playing Javert is really good too.

Going to find my sunglasses so the Bishop's costume isn't so bright and watch again!

  • HUH? Javert is very mediocre. Its a hard part no doubt, but it's been played better many times...

  • yeah, compared to the anniversary concert it aint great, but i wasnt camparing becuase that's a bit unfair, the anniversay concert being professional and all.

  • wow i really love this play and i wish we could do it in our school... but there aren't enough good singers. maybe when i get to high school...

well if we did manage it i would SO be Eponine... she's my favorite character :)

  • wow great javert.... hes playing awesome

  • Shawnee Mission West is currently showing "Le-Mes" and I'm sorry to say, but it Is better than this. and WTF, why doesn't he have shoes on??

  • Yeah West's was amazing, but he didn't have shoes in our production either...just saying. Haha!

  • cuz he is poor duh

  • I have auditions for this play this week. I hope to be Javert.

  • Nice voices and cool production. The unfortunate Bishop's costume is awfully distracting though. Too 'loud.' And the Bishop wouldn't be wearing that in his own home after hours anyway. Such a pity the costume takes center stage since it's one of the most important scenes in the show.

  • our school did this play. and we perform our last performance of it today! and its amazingggg! we had a revolve that revolved the stage for our performance tho... but good job!

  • mines to i loved it

  • WOW!

I am an actress and I teach in several workshops in high schools, one of which is a musical workshop...and I have to say, if my students could be nearly as good as these people are, I'd simply kiss my elbows! :)

Before judging, keep in mind they're not professional singers and actors, and I bet they have very little time to prepare the whole show. You can't expect a perfectly professional perfomance from them, they don't have six-hours-a-day rehearsals. They did a veeeery good job.

  • really good. some people are getting too into it though. Either being too angry, or singing it with out much expression.. Somewhere inbetween and it would have been perfect!

  • That is theatre. Everything has to be bigger than life. It is good that you caught it though. You noticed how things were bigger and how other things were not very noticeable. Those actors didn't emote enough, but you are right, some of those things were over acted a little bit. Good critique

  • I'm a bit of a theatre perfectionist. I can't stand it if everything isn't perfect.

  • Wow! The guy who plays the bishop is amazing

  • my high school did this two years ago. we had an AMAZING set and awesome props but it was like some of the actors (the whole choir) didnt appriciate the hard work. the leads were amazing tho :]

  • I hate that when ppl act that way in theatre.....

  • it rly ruined it. idk y they even bother auditioning

  • awesome minister too!

  • Javert has a really nice voice. Props. and nice pit orchestra too, could have used more violin and viola though. Awesome job!

  • HIGH FUCKING SCHOOL???!!! WOW!! This is REALLY good!!! Crazy!!!

  • my uncle played Javert in the biggest canadian broadway. His tape is really good. I never have seen le mis before so thks 4 posting it!

  • i was in le mis at kd studio and am going to post it. it is as good as this one. man these guys did a great sow though!

  • oh god... this is the performance where my triangular black hat fell off at 7:24. lol

  • Holy shit!

This is a high school? Where is it at? I may wanna come to a production some time. This is almost as good as the Broadway version!!

  • *jawdrop* DAYUM ...

    That was amazing!

    Please upload some more!

  • Why didn't you post Eponine's song "On My Own"? I really want to see that one.

  • dang these guys are good! this is a high school show?!

  • This is a HIGH SCHOOL show?

Who sponsors your Theater department, Jeremy Irons?

  • wow, so professional! I've read the book but this is the first time I see the play and I've never seen the movie. But I am greatly enjoying this play, I get the same feeling as when I read the book. Intense emotion!!!

  • oh my god, this is amazing. i can't believe what i'm seeing. you guys are so talented. :) PLEASE upload the rest!

  • I am amazed at this. This is a very ambitious stage production to take on. I saw it in its first six weeks on Broadway originally and you've got some great potential Broadway in one school there!

  • Im trying to convence the drama teacher at my school to let us do Les Miserables for our spring production next year.

  • fabulous voices.

  • @iSingx15 not bad for high school students

  • i think the first farmer should have been javert

  • Whoa, seriously, this is amazing! I love it! I was convinced it was the real thing until I saw the miners were miming. Well done!

  • WOW!!!!! THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!

  • wow thats good. ilove this play!

  • Hellll yea blake high school

  • what is happening in this first scene? sorry if i sound stupid, but I've never seen this play.

  • i haven't either but im pretty sure its the prisoners mining & stuff

  • You're right. :]

  • it's a bunch of prisoners in a mining camp who are there for life, contemplating being there forever.

  • Its the opening set in prison where Jean Valjean is & been there for 20 years. The head policman hates ValJean & has made his life more miserable. He threatens him & says that he will be released, but will be back because he cannot work and will steal again. So, he is released, finds a place where he can stay & welcome. Sadly, he robs the place & is caught, the house owner says to the guards the silverware's a gift, he is discharged. This makes him think & turns over a new leaf. :) Violá!

  • GEEZ, these guys got some talent to do this kinda thing.

  • wow i thought this was on broadway you rock. you all did great

  • I wish my school would do this musical, but nooo..

  • i know... we have to do annie get your gun...

  • Wow. Unlike the three-camera shoot the night before, this one actually looks like a professional production.

  • Jaun Val Johnny kicks the El Grande Big one!
