if you brake in the corner and are "good" its more effective, also front brake is very important, although ONLY when in an upright position... ur gonna fall if u brake ur front and turn!

DO NOT use your front brake a lot off road, with V brakes and even mechanical brakes there is not enough control over the brake to use it, i have hydrualic brakes on my bike and they offer very good modulation so i use the front brake but only as a drag brake to limit my speed and a slow slowing down. Do not just grab your front brake offroad, at worst you fly over the handle bars or front wheel skids, and that is very hard to control.

These are great vids. I see so many people on the trails that have absolutely NO IDEA what the hell they are doing. Great stuff for beginners. It may seem obvious to most, but you'd be surprised at what people think they know but don't. I saw one group out once that really should not have been out there. No helmets, bikes were set up all wrong (saddle too low, etc.) One of the gilrs told me her bike was $1200 so she should know what she's doing. When I did my 2nd lap, they were gone.

yeah i agree somewhat, i use my front brakes quite a bit, but i don't squeeze the shit out of em, and either way, as long as you don't let your body go forward a whole lot during the use of the front brake, you will almost never go over, unless your wheel plants itself... then your screwed lol

yeh he is right on this one, no braking in corners definitley, it is almost like asking for a crash, dont do it, if your detestablizing urself remember to turn the opposite direction with your back breaks let the brakes go and turn in, if you want to do a late braking, but do NOT brake in corners, take corners slow and progress braking in the corner with high speed aint going to make you faster =)
