I don't balme eddie for chopping off vh1 and rolling stone. If I were in his shoes, I would be completely over how the music industry has changed for the worst and pretty much wouldn't want anything to do with all the modern shit now that has ruined the music industry . Eddie is the greatest and the most creative guitarist of all time. I don't care what all the new modern progressive metal guitar players can do, they didn't invent most of the stuff that came from eddie originally. feel me!!
@dmohr7 He's hooking up a wooden device which supports the guitar so it lays out like a pedal steel. He's actually got a US patent on the thing (google EVH + patent + support device) to see a drawing and description of the device in the US patents logs. It looks like a wooden board that rests on the player's midsection. A second wooden piece extends outward to support the guitar. He was attaching the guitar to the device at the start of the video
eddie van halen is not of this world hes from another planet. hes the greatest guitar player this world has ever or ever will see or here there will never be another edward van halen he is the true and only guitar god!
@humbucker01 Too bad the mainstream media doesn't recognize that, mostly cus Ed won't give them the time of day or allow them to do stuff on them. He denied VH1 of making a Behind the Music so VH1 leaves them off everything. Same thing with Rolling Stone, they give them the shaft.
This is wild!! Ive never seen ed prop his guitar like that and carry-on tapping. The guy is amazing period! No one has re-invented guitar like he has and no one ever will come to edddie's unique abilities. He's just a super creative guy!
Agreed dude!! How Sammy can say that Joe Satriani is the best guitarist he's every played with in a recent interview just shows how bitter and jealous he is of King Edward. Satch could'nt even touch this!! Surfin With The Alien? Pigs arse!! King Edward is from another planet!!! KING EDWARD FOR LIFE!!!
I remember seeing this live on the 84 tour. I was extremely far away and couldn't see what he was doing and remember thinking..... "That's not a guitar!". But of course it was and is. How awesome.
he has their is a video of him using it on their first tour playing you really got me but he didn't that much because the after he cut it the sustain and fat tone was ruined
I have been looking for a video of Eddie using that contraption to prop up his guitar horizontally for a VERY long time and so I THANK YOU VHFan66 !!! A lot of people said that he never actually USED it live but I knew he did. I also think he used it when I saw them in Dallas back in '84. He actually patented that device! Pretty weird that he never used it again. I am a very happy VH fan today and glad that I now have this vid forever : ) WOOT!!
I think the solo on Live without a Net is the best recorded solo other than early bootleg from 78-79. You see hear why he usually dosent play all of the Mean Streets intro...its just to damm hard to squeeze them harmomics out.
bro whats all that about? i live in england u.k and man i havnt heard anything about van halen touring, please let me know man been waiting for like 20 years to see em was too young to see em in 1984. thanks
eddie is working with Dave in his studio, the tour will contains classic VH songs. You will hear the official announcement around mid Dec. or early Jan.
Continuing. My ALL TIME FAVORITE solo by Eddie Van Halen. The most incredible show I ever saw when Van Halen were at their peak. Beautiful tone. Incredible inovation. Skill & technique is right on.

I do.

are you on LSD cuz this is pure rock guitar here. god you gotta love the solo eddie does on that little table he has at the beginning.
Gary2112 4 years ago 2
He used a plexi glass on his guitar that was screwed on the back. Obviously, the re-inventor is still the best! GO EVH
mkwong1274 5 years ago
Man, I totally forgot out the table. That was cool when he used that.

the riff in this solo is the same riff on reunion leak track, pretty cool!
