  • i'd say the Sepultura version sounds really dark and it seems to be fueled by their own Brazilian Upbringing and the life they had to live and witness growing up

  • this is good with a british accent too

  • not really a video just a light show of stills very late 60s roundhouse

  • this video is hilarious, the police car and the court house with the x over it haha

  • AWSOME!!!

  • The photos of the dead soldiers from the U.S. Civil War really lend a striking sense of authenticity to this video. I'd like to sit in a bare room made of video screens-walls, floors, and ceilings- while the intro plays over and over. I may finally find some peace.

  • I like how both versions of this song express slightly different emotions concerning the same issue (seeking justice where the system has failed). Sepultura's version seems to come from a perspective of youthful anger and a fast burning passion. The original also has the same sense of anger, but from a more mature perspective (i.e. serious thought given to what must be done and the consequences). Passion burns with NMA's version, but it's more controlled, and slow burning.

  • @NoCutCard612 that's a great observation, I never thought of it that way.

  • i think this version is better than that of sepultura's, but to each his own.

  • i prefer sepulturas version but this is still epic, both versions are great

  • sepultura brought me here. they did it better IMO

  • This is an NMA song. It is their feelings, their beliefs, their passion. Sepultura covered it because they liked it. To say Sepultura's version is better is disrespectful! You may prefer their version because you like their style of music, but it is not "better". This is classic NMA with fire in their belly. I like NMA covers because I like to hear other bands interpretations of NMA songs. Say you prefer other versions but there would not be plagiarism without the original.

  • @NoobyStonk I was unaware that the modern definition of "plagiarism" was "covering a song and acknowledging its original artist."

Sepultura's cover, as stated elsewhere, is a more angrier interpretation of the song, whereas NMA's original is more solemn and introspective. Both are great in their own right.

  • is that the singer from the cure. Sounds like some dude from an 80's pop band.

  • @DALE97DSM Well New Model Army were formed in 1980.

  • State watchdogs fuck off

    NMA freaking rocks

    Cheers from Denmark

  • this song is dedicated to the brave Afghan guerrillas when they go to hunt the dogs yankees

  • to me it sounds like NMA wrote a song for Sepultura

  • Sepultura's version is better

  • @xjapanesesteelx sepultura did a great version but you can't compare the versions as they may be the same song they are played in different genres. so it comes to matter of opinion, I like both but prefer this.

  • @chickencharlie because this guy can actually sing instead of making the same gurgling sound over and over again? And no: I don't have anything against screaming/shouting/etc.. BTBAM and PTH belong to my favorite bands.

  • ah originally I wanted to ask if anyone knows what this song is exactly about? What has the guy done they are hunting?

  • @Nacaer apparently its about his brother being addicted to something and their hunting for the person who got him on it..and the lyrics shows that their taking back the city from the drug dealers by being vigilantes "no police no summons,no courts of law"

  • @chickencharlie The problem I have with Sepultura's version is that while yeah, it's heavy, they don't sound like they get it. This song has a tricky mood, and nobody does it like NMA.

  • Before their time killer

  • Awsome vid mate ^^ is this a Cover or the Origonal??

  • @Sanitarium4ever

    original of course

  • Interesting. The lyrics make more sense in the context of the IRA struggle than they did coming from sepultura

  • I seriously fucking hope nobody thinks this is a cover of Sepultura. This is the original, better version. I love the lyrics about Vigil Antey justice. In my head I picture Northern Ireland in the 80's with the NRA shit going on all over.

  • sound is allright - but far from original == lost all the energy

I'll have to change it asap...

  • e um hino só pra variar

  • classic

  • Great video! Don't take any notice of the comment below. I'm bloody critical of all all video and film work and with resources to hand you done a good effect.

  • I like the video, great images - great song, recurring theme with Slade TL in the early years - get mad and ALSO get even: Fuck all wrong with that!!

  • who did the original version ? New model army or Sepultura? I heard this song first in chaos ad album sepultura?

  • @s81166 New Model Army did the original ..one of the most under-rated and original rock bands ever...this takes me back to free festivals in the 80's and my long lost youth..heady days!

  • @leahlovebite Thanks! but sepultura did a great job of covering the song. the original version is awesome too!

  • Gracias sepultura por mejorar sta pieza SEPULTURA VA A ACABAR CON TODO

  • I love NMA, but doesn't the chorus seem to justify Guantanamo now?

Sorry, old boy, I trace English liberty back before 1642.

    Habaes Corpus and all that.

Bet the Guantanamo inmates believed in lawyers fees, courts of law, proper procedures, rules of war, and wish they yanks didn't use mitigating circumstances as an excuse. Oh, and the innocent ones would prob like a second chance.

Can you translate 51st State into Arabic? It's not us, honest Guv.

  • @ganpati23 inmates in gtb dont deserve justice courts or anything else..terrosist batards

  • Simply one of the best songs of all time. That's what Rock music has to be like.

  • wow yeah I thought this was a sepultura original, never heard of these guys until just now. very cool!

  • I like both versions...

I saw both bands before Sepultura had there version...I had already this version and was surprised when I bought Chaos A.D. and listened...one of the guys was also wearing an New Model Army shirt (see booklet of the digipack).

  • Extreme metal would not exist if it were not for punk you fool. Thrash was in punk before it was in metal. In 1980 Circle Jerks played way faster than any metal band at the time. Even Lemmy would tell you that. BTW New Model Army never broke up and are around today.... just like Seputura, they only have one original member left.

  • fk youtube and fk you

  • ich kannte es bisher nur von Sepultura, ich finde das aber besser...

  • All the bitching about which version of the song better is pretty lame... Personally, I like the NMA version better but to be honest, I would never have known about the band if not for the Sepultura version. They're both great but in different ways.

That said, dude... You can't defend Sepultura. Chaos AD was their last decent album.

  • @lonewolfimmortal HAHA soo true i love sepultura so much but after Chaos AD it just went downhill

  • NMA are still alive and kicking the snot out of that shitty crap Sepultura tried to pass off as a cover of this. Btw, NMA are still not only touring, but their still knocking out kick ass albums that kick the crap out of manufactured american groups. NMA Will never die, and can i say thank F*ck.

  • NMA version is the ORIGINAL, sepultura only covered it.. who cares which is better, if NMA never played it, i dont think sepultura would have though of it, do you?? and considering that

Wagner Lamounier Jairo Guedes Max Cavalera Igor Cavalera are no longer with sepultura, its hard to say sepultura are great, because they will never be the same as they used to be since Chaos A.D. and Roots. so are sepultura stil good? i dont think so. NMA are still touring around, saw them a couple of yrs ago

  • the original version is obviously better lol

  • NMA piss on sepultura even on a bad day

  • @drj1mmy i piss on your mom

  • The lyrics to this mirror my thoughts on the justice system and how it sucks. Sometimes i would like to dish out my own justice on fucking drug dealers, rapists and child molestors

  • the problem is that such a justice system is even more easily abused.

  • thx for your comment, I laughed a lot :-)))

notice: Sepultura weren't on earth, if there wasn't Slayer or Holy Terror. Their whole existence is based on them. And rhat's not my opinion, that's fact ;-))

  • Having been a fan of this song/band since the early days, I was amazed that Sepultura covered it. When I got Chaos A.D. I was blown away. Both versions are awesome in their own rights!

  • I've known this song for like 7 years now, but only in Sepultura's version. Their cover was very good, but the original is much better. Awesome track.

  • I think both versions are great. One of the very few covers as good as the original I think. In their version sepultura clearly put just as much heart into it (and probably more energy) as NMA - they clearly genuinely understand, and aren't just covering it because they like the band.

  • Wait, I'm an idiot. Sepultura covered this, not the other way around. Shows how much I know about my favorite band (Sepultura).

  • The guitar has a sort of Dead Kennedys feel. I like that it's not another generic metal cover ala Hatebreed (Refuse/Resist). No better or worse, but different.

  • The guys from Sepultura are great fans of NMA, "Chaos AD" is a great album, but their cover of this song is no way better than the original.

  • The beginning is very similar to The Cure - Cold in their Pornography album (1982)

    /watch?v=Qa8x7zRnhLc

  • you are wrong =:O)

    this one has the menace

  • hm....sepultura's has more energy. ofcourse without this you wouldn't have sepultura's....but i dunno, i still prefer the cover over the original. This one sounds more dead than moody/dark.

    just my opinion

  • sepultura's cover sounds better than the original. thats sad.

  • Both versions are good. This is more emotional, but I have always liked the extra energy that sepultura add to it. They seem to be good at that with their cover songs - the same can be said fortheir version of orgasmatron.

  • I usually prefer originals, but the sepultura has to be at least as good. For some reason I expected this to sound more similar to Sepultura's version...They are the best cover versions - the ones that respect and don't insult the originals, but make the song different and individual enough to make it worthwhile.

  • Thanks for putting another NMA video up. I listened to Green and Grey on my way to boot camp in 92. Their music still moves me very much. Lots of memories. Pity they dont get the respect they deserve here in the U.S.

  • sepulturas cover is much better, they played it with spirit

  • But it's still a cover. When NMA wrote the song in the early 80's we in the north where suffering the collapse of our traditonal industries and when that happened the thugs, pushers, pimps, and loan sharks moved in. This is about getting our community spirit back our way. Granted, Sepultura do the song justice, but they could never convey the immense anger and injustice we all felt at the time and NMA understood that as much as anyone else as their home town of Bradford has suffered terribly.

  • You think some street kids from Brazil didn't feel immense anger at terrible injustice?

  • Your point is? People feel injustice world over, but as I have clearly said this is a reaction to the social decay in the old industrial north, Bradford etc not Brazil. How many pubs are called the Seven Crowns in Rio? Please try to keep your middle class guilt complex to yourself, and learn more about the music, history , and social changes of the North before gobbin' off. It is a statement of what hundreds of us went through in the 80's, if you wern't there you wouldn't truly understand.

  • All I'm saying is that dudes from Brazil went through enough to be able to identify with what dudes in the British north went through.

I ain't got any middle class guilt, but I don't have any chips on my shoulders either.

  • NMA played it with spirit too. But since you chose your nickname after one of the worst songs Metallica ever released, you obviously don't have much feeling for music anyway, so never mind.

  • saw these guys in cincinnati in like '87.

Picked up the bar bill for the band and crew after the show...lots of guiness & cigarettes...and a bit of blow to boot!

    great show...great memory

  • How the hell has an awesome band like this escaped my notice?

Besides 'The Ghost of Cain', what other CD's do you guys recommend?

  • "No Rest For the Wicked" and "Thunder and Consolation", if you like those, pick up "Impurity"

  • every nma album !!!

  • Great song & Band - brings back memories - and a great vid - thanks !

  • wow I randomly clicked on this vid and I love it!

    haha

  • Randomly check out the rest and perhaps take a look at The Levellers ;-)

  • Sauron's eye???

  • I think the cover by sepultura is better. Sorry...

  • saw this last night live in leeds, it was mental. Best song of the night i reckon.

  • i have to agree there

  • Sepultura cover rules!!

  • reflected glory! but sep are quite cool

  • fcukin awesome seen them more times than i can remember, they are gods....

  • when u make a better video, you can trash talk this 1. you dont have any at all, so keep the snide comments to yourself.

  • @allgreatmusic the video is great man, but the fuckin seizure is enough for me after 3 seconds :) nice video anyway... the little parts i'm seeing now

  • @allgreatmusic I disagree, one doesnt have to be a film maker to criticize a film, and someone who has never picked up a brush in their life can say whether or not they think a painting is any good or not. Thats like saying you can't disagree with a person properly because you never joined the debate team, its silly. I'm with anchpio, the song kicks ass but the video is a bit on the lame side

  • such a cool song, and a cool video well done!

  • Very impressive, cheers for the work!

  • absolutely perfect. five stars!

  • Nice job! NMA rulez!

they will come to Brazil in August, and i go!

  • Very creative video, it really suits the song. Great job again!

  • That's a cool video! Cheers

  • Good Job!

  • Thanks! Any other NMA songs you really like? I'll make a video for anything. Let me know.

  • I have so many favourites. If you like "Ballad" then I guess it will be my first choice! Soft and crying music to back up the outstanding lyrics.

  • i love ballad! its a great song, and so true. Im workin on a video for it right now, its abit difficult, but ill have it online ASAP

  • @allgreatmusic

    Vanity?

  • @allgreatmusic shit i just read that you made this yourself i swore it was a pro exalent job keep it up

  • allgreatmusic...you have produced an absolute cracker of a video here. 5 Stars easy
