  • This was filmed in 'The State' nightclub in Liverpool

  • Rubbish picture and sound. There's plenty of better quality versions available.

  • this song kicks ass but this version is fucked up

  • Eww...

  • Is that Bob Geldof? This must be the original version I read about on YouTube. Not as full-sounding.

  • people say frankie were gay yet to be honest they had two gay guys, three hetro lady killers and two sexy birds dancin and to be fair some bangin tunes. Two Tribes is my fave but this band were wrecked by Trevor Horn - dont get me wrong Horn did some good mixing but raw Frankie were very good and people in the end said they couldnt play their instruments which is a bunch of moo poo

  • I LOVE COCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111

  • People give far too much credit to Trevor Horn's over-production on the Relax base as well as other technical achievements, but in its rawer form here it really grooves like r & b, a fluid drive. The musical ideas are theirs.

  • @barfcoswill : 1 of the ten commandments of mixing music is: if the song sucks* then there is nothing you can do! This is a great song. I luv finding old live stuff like this. a few years back I listened to a vinyl of Rio album Duran Duran. In the 80's when I first heard it, it was the most amazing sounding album, now it sounds like it was recorded in a bedroom, It's still amazing & maybe even better because that "rawness" has been lost.

    *unintentionally funny choice of words!

  • Wow, for all this time I had liked this song I never knew what this was about or had watched the music video. Haha, I can tell they are gay, but so what it is a good song. I am straight and still don't think anything less of the song. I hate it when people in general regardless of any video bashes it for its meaning or for the people commenting on it. So to all the gay happy people out there, god bless ya all. You are cool in my books.

  • @fieldx200 : You're Straight? Hey, so's spaghetti 'till ya heat it up a bit! ;-)

  • @JCMcGee Seems like you talk a lot of shit on here. We can tell your the only one on here who is uncomfortable about his sexuality and needs to find someone that is insecure just as well. Your the type of person who becomes a mass murderer, because inside your gay and need to express it in a masculine way. You don't want to accept the truth. Believe me I am straighter then an arrow. I accept all people, I don't care if you JCmcGee are gay. Go have fun with your spaghetti, LOLOLOL... :)

  • Great stuff, this is really gay because its celebrate the orgasm, worship the erection and all that; no whining about rights, just sex.

  • being a bass player i love this version..being a leg man i love that woman in thigh highs and i must have her this instant!

  • w t f

  • This is so gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyish!

  • @josielpontocom Do ya think? Really??

  • @josielpontocom so what? its good music.... there is no such thing as a gayish sound byte

  • WTF? Is is KC And The Sunshine Band? "I believe in miracle, oooooooooohhh, you sexy thing" God bless Trevor Horn for remaking that song. Greetings from PL.

  • This was recorded at the state ballrooms( Liverpool)

This is the original and is quality, if you heard all there first original songs before ZTT then you would appreciate how good live they are.

I was fortunate to see them play live, larks in the parks, the sportsman, etc

    Good bunch all round,

  • Frankie playing the familiar 3-2-1-1 formation. The Lads providing the tight, solid, reliable foundation on which to launch their massive attack on an unsuspecting public: Ped's impeccable timing, Nasher's guitar licks and Mark O'Tool's phenomenal bass; the Leatherpettes providing width on the flanks with additional whips, chains and handcuffs; Paul Rutherford playing in the hole (oo'er, missus) allowing Holly Johnson to spearhead the Frankie attack.

  • Terrible butchering of a great tune.

  • @sjtom57 This is the original actually, don't shit if you don't know!

  • less subtle than The Cars' hit "Tonight She Comes"

  • Jesus; Julie and Marie, where are they now??

  • i see everybody but not mark and brian..

    ;( <3

  • only the bird makes this bearable ! Shame she wasn't part of the lineup. Song's just repetitive bilge IMO

  • The only person from the "band" on the well-known version of the song is Holly Johnson. The rest of it is Trevor Horn and his session musicians/programmers (Art of Noise).

  • coke anyone ....

  • i thought i seen all version of this song but i was wrong.. this is very cool. thanks,,

  • Did this version ever come out on vinyl? I remember buying about 15 mixes at the time but I don't knoe if I've got this one

  • no ... this was a rough cut of the bands first cut for TV but ... the band got famous after ditching the females but there is a semi version of this song that is from the 80's but ... this song has not came out like this in full ... but you can pick songs out on Limewire for free

  • mr frank 5322 captain armor piercor wake up look up some of the most influenciel people in this world are gay and or bi sexual as a matter of fact your dentist may have teabagged yuor tooth brush or the the tools he put in yuor mouth ? dont be so blatent to judge others in a world filled with so much hate

  • blatant gayness. lol they rock though.

  • Tempo change is qual!

  • think these guys do much hunting and fishing?

  • what do you mean with that? i dont see a reason that a homosexual is not into fishing and hunting? stereothypics SUCKS

  • oh come now? you dont really believe that do you?

  • well being gay doesnt make a guy into a girl or a girl into a guy. u can still be laddish. thats just a typical stereotypic you learn in junior high.

  • Rednecks can be gay too.

  • and that opinion sounds like its coming from a mouth that doesnt know anything about being gay. or unless you have only seen a girlboy on the street and draw attention to it while u dont understand that that laddish dude next to you can be gay aswell. ur talking about things u dont understand. so please give ur HOMOSEXUALISTIC head a shake.

  • Without Trevor Horn, Frankie wouldn't have made it big-time. However, I wish some of the nifty guitar work could have been left on the re-worked, commercial version.

  • ok i never ever ever ever seen THIS version of relax . is this a music video import maybe? anyone know? the 411 on this video version!

  • i love the tarty slutty blonde from the 80's! why cant all women go back to dressing like this?

  • I don't mean to blow my own Trevor Horn now but I think both versions are great :)

  • sexy

  • Interesting document. One can see the fantastic work of Trevor Horn.

  • i like the suckers

  • God bless Trevor Horn ! He performed a miracle rearranging this song !

  • wasnt there a parody on this. i cant find it

  • I'd always heard that in the early days, Frankie were like a perverse carnival sideshow...this sends some light on that! Also, the breakdown in the middle is an appropriation of "In Heaven, Everything Is Fine" from Lynch's "Eraserhaed."

  • I like this music but there is no sound!!!!!!!!!!

Why is there no sound with this clip!!!!!

  • turn on ur sound, that should fix it ;)

  • this version totally sucks.

  • Brilliant so loved this. RIP, love you so much Janexxx.

  • may be you like them, but you dont accept the fact...

  • Who needs Trevor Horn anyway (err.... well...)

  • Thanks for posting!! LOVE IT!!!

  • A classic.

  • Pity the audio isn't synced with the video.

  • Much prefer this dirtier raunchier version...pity the qualitys not so good, but a better version.

  • it is gay bend what full doesn't know that

  • loooooooooool..well, I know guys would like it, but its kinda silly to have her there while the guy singin it is gay!

  • I like this video...but whats up with that slut dancing?

  • That was the best part

  • this video clip was actually recorded before Frankie Goes To Hollywood had a recording contract, this is the actual clip that got them noticed by record companies

  • the video was done at the state famous 2 years later for featuring in the film letter to brezhnev written by frank clarke who's sister margi used to hang around with holly.

  • paul rutherford is guy too. he looked horny when he was younger. had a lovely dirty smile

  • Kewl jaiwills; but I don't think there any females in the bar video version.

  • Was this filmed in "the State" in Liverpool?...the ceiling seems familiar!!!

  • Frankie and the knockouts??? FGTH..Frankie Goes To Hollywood...well Holly Johnson and his co lead singer were gay..and lovers. I remember them playing at Sefton Park Liverpool before they were famous (Larks in the Park...I think it was called). The video with the single was more expressive!! Anyone old enough out there to remember Mike Reid from Radio 1 having the song banned...it shot to No.1. And who said that music was dead in the 80's...have a look at their single release "two tribes".

  • I really wish someone could find some video's of his former group frankie and the knockouts they really rocked!

  • Actually, heavyliftz, those bumpin'-n-grindin' leather-clad hotties are indeed women. The legendary "Leather Pets" were an early featured part of Frankie's pre-ZTT live act. They are sisters and their names are Julie and Marie Muscatelli.

  • I'm sorry but you can't dress like that and NOT be gay! That's coming from a gay guy. LOL

  • right so brother! ;-)

but then what do you figure about the girls in this video? they wear leather too....

  • No lesbian would dance to this music. LOL ;-)

  • only the singer is gay

  • not really..

  • Rundown-Raw-Funky.Hits the spot yeh..

  • yepp,,anyone ever listen to the lyrics

    ye..ahhh

  • jaiwills if you're willing to trust that there're women performing with Frankie goes to Hollywood in this video, you might not want to pick up ladies in San Francisco. Bassist has it down tight.

  • Is that the State in Liverpool???

  • Love those foxy leather babes!

  • relax. don't bust your nut.

  • Well thank god they found Trevor Horn as even being a fan i don't think they would have gone anywhere.Frankie has always been a production band

  • I believe this was the first ever showing of FGTH on the TV. The Tube did this video and from this Trev Horn was watching, or so legend goes.

I remember seeing this when first broadcast, it was different and we did wonder what would happen next.

  • So much better than the 'super-produced' single version... shows that they Frankie could actually freak the funk!
