@ilikezappa You have posited your personal belief in polytheism, but you have failed to provide evidence for your personal belief that there could somehow be more than one God.
In reality, there is only one God, and he is not a Christian, so you lose.
You don't like the US? move to another country where they don't honor the one and only God -- oh yeah, nazi Germany doesn't exist anymore, so you're S.O.L.
I gave this video a thumbs up, because it proves the radical, right-wing nutjobs wrong, but this religious crap really needs to be taken out of our congress.
They should change the title to, "Obama PRETENDS to recite the pledge of allegiance. That didn't sound to me like he said the pledge... All I heard him say "and justice for all". Don't tell me he was facing away from mike either because you could hear everyone else saying it loud and clear. Sorry, no proof here.
Can't vote for Obama his lack of natiural born citizen status won't allow him on the ballot in my state. 12 states and counting. For any American who voted for him once made a mistake. Any American who votes for him twice is an idiot
I dont think you can call that "reciting the pledge of allegiance" he turned and sat down before it ended. you couldnt even hear say but the first two words.
Yeah, Christians are the most persecuted people in the United States of America. What a crock of shit. (boo hoo. "we can't teach creationism in school. we can't have prayer lead by authority in schools..."..boo fucking hoo.)
@danielkyleh Yeah, really. They've had dominion over the world for so long, now that some of that dominion has been denied them, they cry like a bunch of babies. I'm not talking about all Christians, here. They certainly don't all act that way, but the cry babies are very vocal.

Till now I thought that the state of the US is separated from the Church. Why do they say: "... one nation under God" ? And they do it face to face to a flag? Hmm.. it´s really not easy to understand for someone from Europe.
@matjesworld We say this because we Americans are morons. Few of us know anything of the history of our own country, as such many of us are under the impression that the United States was founded as a Christian republic. These poor delusional individuals (most of the population) then make the decision to ignore the separation of church and state based on their own idiocy. You've just learned all you need to know about U.S. culture in a single paragraph.
@20vtmk1... Thank you for your opinion. I guess I know what you mean. And for me it´s always interesting to learn something about the other cultures. For example, we got a German pope, you know, but he is absolutely unimportant for the politics. Well, generally, the US habits are not always the same like those of the Europeans, but .... it´s interesting. ((-;
I heard his voice quite clearly and saw him looking at the flag while reciting it. The only thing proven by Obamas critics is that they are ignorant fools that spew sheer nonsense.
I did not hear Mr. Obama's normally clear highly trained oratorical voice at all during this recording. I did hear the others in the chamber. You my friend have just proved the point that Mr. Obama does not pledge alliegiance to anything American.
In Poland we have a lot of religulous people, also in government, but for praying we have a chapel in the Sejm building. Moreover, when some national conservative political party ordered there a prayer for rain, they got so ridiculed! (search for Modlitwa o deszcz)
How nice that our President said the pledge today. It's a pity he's not motivated to say it EVERY time he's in public, rather than omit it on certain days when he's not in the mood. When Americans do this at sports games, it's unfortunate. When a President of the United States does this, it is shameful.
"This is further proof that, if you repeat a lie enough times, eventually enough people will believe it is the truth."
The lie that the founding fathers of the country described the first amendment as "creating a wall of separation between church and state". No lie there at all! It pretty astoundingly obvious to all except extreme fundamentalists that that must be what it meant!
I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State- Thomas jefferson
There's no "separation of church and state just like there's no "bill of rights"
@Remembermylai That's not in the Constitution. It's from a letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists. Last I checked, we weren't governed by the Founders' correspondence.
This is further proof that, if you repeat a lie enough times, eventually enough people will believe it is the truth.
Yeah, it's a piece of correspondence that is explaining what the first amendment is intended to do which is "Create a wall of separation of church and state." It's pretty damn clear that's what it's meant to say. You don't like the fact that the founding fathers weren't wanna be theocratic tyrants, even though they believed themselves. "
@Remembermylai "You don't like the fact that the founding fathers weren't wanna be theocratic tyrants, even though they believed themselves. "
Actually, I'm THRILLED that they weren't 'wanna be theocratic tyrants' (sic). I think the fact that they were religious men (to varying degrees), yet they expressly chose religious freedom over tyranny (establishing a state-sponsored religion is tyranny, IMO) is one of the most amazing things about our Founders. Freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM it.
lol exactly, I had to pledge/mesmerize the "pledge of Allegiance" since 6 yrs old till 18 yrs old when I graduated high school and Obama can't get it right? wtf
this is ridiculous. this man is disgusting. anyone who has interest in saying how it should be said and thought of should watch Red Skelton's view on it.
KiddVid, let me give you a word of advice. Drop it. Kook leftists cannot be persuaded to believe anything other than their own unconstitutional, liberal beliefs.
I heard him say "We pledge allegiance," then nothing more until the end, when he said "just for all." He flubbed the beginning and the end, and you can't hear anything in between.
Could an American clear this up for me... If your bill of rights claims for freedom of religion. Why would there be a prayer (especially one mentioning jesus) here?
@Xethavosh ignore the rumors. This is what The First Amendment actually says about religion. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." There is no separation of Church and State. There is no prohibition against Christianity. The 1st Amendment secures the right to pray, it doesn't prevent it.
@Xethavosh How could you possibly interpret The First Amendment of our Constitution to mean there is no freedom of religion? It means exactly the opposite.
@KiddVid I did not interpret it that way. You said it was not about seperation of church and state. You claimed that it was about freedom of religion, and that state should not hold respect towards religion.
I then asked. Why have a specifically chrisitian prayer?
@Xethavosh That's sad. If you were fluent in some language, any language, there might be some hope. I don't really have time to tutor you in the meanings of words. I see you have a specific problem with the word "respecting." I'll give you a hint: It doesn't mean the same thing in the real world as it means in the ghetto. Look it up in a dictionary. I think you'll be surprised.
@KiddVid I know what the word means. I don't speak ghetto slang either. What I am saying is that they shouldn't have a prayer for a specific religion in a government meeting.
@Xethavosh If you know what the founders meant by "respecting" why did you say they meant "state should not hold respect towards religion?" No one who is fluent in English could possibly come up with that interpretation.
If you want to live in a country where religion is banned, go ahead. No one is stopping you.
@KiddVid Why does this idiotic comment have 42 thumbs up? Xethavosh never said anything about separation of church and state; he was talking about freedom of religion. Shouldn't not respecting an establishment of religion exclude the practice of regularly reading Christian dogma in congress? And just because YOU don't want a separation of church and state, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be there. Most of our founding fathers believed it was very important to have it.
@Xethavosh Yeah, it's pretty hypocritical and I think it should not be there. It shows the hypocrisy that the USA has ALWAYS had and still has today. I would hope they would at least invite preachers of different religions to come pray there before they go through that session but I really doubt it for some reason... it would still be out of place in any government function since the constitution states that the government shouldn't be endorsing any religion.
@lifthz Speaking of hypocrites, I didn't see your objection to Imam Abdullah Antepli's muslim prayer in a session of Congress. I didn't see you object to any White House ramadan celebration. I haven't seen you object to freedom of any religion other than Christianity, though I'd be willing to bet your objections extend to Judaism (just a hunch). So you see, those you accuse of hypocrisy have actually invited a diverse group of people from many religions. The hypocrisy is all yours.
@KiddVid I am not in the business of watching every single congress session, but perhaps you are. I don't care what religion it is... it is hypocritical on the part of the congross to be supporting any religion within its sessions. This would support the notion that the congress is somehow polytheistic which is blashpemy by saying they are under God. Or to say like Obama, Bush and other said that they are Christians but they believe there are "many paths to God". A non-believer says that.
@lifthz Thank you for that demonstration of real hypocrisy. First you say they're hypocrites because you claim other religions are not allowed to pray, then you say they're hypocrites because other religions are allowed to pray. You've made the accusation, and you won't be swayed by the truth.
@KiddVid A human mistake on my part of not knowing everything... not hypocrisy on my part. I was not aware that they would let any prayer in there in the first place. This is why I said " really doubt it for some reason" if you read correctly. Secondly, I support my response... there should be no religion in there at all.
@lifthz Show me where our Constitution says "Congress shall make laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion."
If you don't like the freedom of religion we have, there are other freedoms you might wish to avail yourself of. Like the freedom to leave. But if you choose to stay here, you should get used to the idea that your selfishness doesn't override our freedoms.
@KiddVid Has nothing to do with freedom of religion which under the law should be allowed to be practiced in any place private of public, but when it comes to congress it's a matter of placing religion in congress where it isn't supposed to belong.
@lifthz Yes, I agree that the United States is under God, and I agree that the Pledge of Allegiance should be recited accurately, and include that fact. That does not contradict anyone or anything worthwhile. It only contradicts a godless world view. We should all strive to contradict godlessness at every turn.
@KiddVid While Then which God, because it certainly not supporting one God... and the actions of the United States certainly do not support God of the Bible... or the Quran...
@KiddVid You misunderstand what I say. I think this nation has NEVER been following God of the Bible or Quran. How do you explain 300 years of treating blacks as slaves... that's Christianity?... more like Old Testament (Torah). Perhaps we were following the ways of Jews... which some might actually say that's what it is.
@lifthz where do you get this nonsense? Have you never cracked a history book? Have you never read the religious books you have such difficulty seeing any difference between? How could you not know anything about the history of religion in our society?
@KiddVid Interesting, especially considering th at an accurate portrayal of the original pledge would not have "under God" in it. It was until the 50s that your hero McCarthy put that phrase in there. I'll stick with the original, thank you very much.
@firegod001 Senator Joe McCarthy changed the Pledge of Allegiance? You might want to google that. In your search, it might help to include such phrases as "Initiated by Louis Bowman," "Knights of Columbus prompted the president," "George MacPherson Docherty sermon 'A New Birth of Freedom' based on Lincoln's Gettysburg Address," "Congressman Charles Oakman introduced bill," "Congress voted unanimously," and "President Eisenhower signed the bill into law." The current Pledge is the official one.
@KiddVid You are correct. My bad. However, he did have a lot more to do with putting "In God We Trust" on our money. Before his idiotic and cowardly persecution of anything he remotely thought smelled like communism, most of our money said, "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Your last sentence is stupid as hell. We all know it's the "official" pledge. We wouldn't be complaining otherwise. However, it wasn't official until a bunch of retards made the phrase up, and slapped it on there.
@firegod001 Wrong again. "In God We Trust" was used on American legal tender in 1864. McCarthy wasn't even born until 1908.
In case you've forgotten what this video is about, I said the current Pledge is the official one, to bring this conversation back to the point that Obama failed to recite the official Pledge of Allegiance. Your petty little arguments against the Pledge can't change that fact. It's still the official Pledge, and Obumbler still flubbed it.
@KiddVid I am not wrong. I know that it was used in 1864, and that in no way contradicts what I said. I said most of our money. Your reading comprehension obviously needs a lot of work. And I've personally heard Obama say "under god" in the pledge at least three times, and at least once before all this ultra right-wing fiction about him refusing to do it began. Your ignorance on this subject is astounding.
@firegod001 You are wrong. Senator McCarthy had no more to do with putting "In God We Trust" on our money than he had to do with adding "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. What contributions do you think he made to these issues? Can you share what makes you think McCarthy had a lot more to do with putting "In God We Trust" on our money? I tried googling it, but couldn't find anyone else who claimed to believe that. Meanwhile, did you google Matthew Herman Rothert Sr?
@KiddVid No, I'm not wrong, and it doesn't matter how many times you say it. I don't have to google Rothert, as I already know of his involvement. And th ere are things you can know that cannot be found on google, my idiotic man... If you knew anything about McCarthy in the 50s, you'd know that he was a very strong influence in a general, radical movement to persecute any and all suspected communists, and many times just because someone didn't believe in a god. (CONT)
@firegod001 Fine, so you just know it in your heart, without having to have anything to back it up. I've offered you an easy way to verify all of my claims, using the search engines available on your computer. If you'd prefer to go to a library or book store, go ahead. It won't change anything. Do you have anything (books, magazines, Congressional records, links to reputable sites, etc) that backs up anything you've said? Or do you expect everyone to put as much faith in your feelings as you do?
@KiddVid No, I don't know it in my heart, and I would appreciate if you would stop putting words in my mouth. I know it because I understand what McCarthy did. I know many of things he specifically did to people just because they didn't believe in a god, I know many of the specific things he did to change our country, and I know many of the things that were done by his followers. I will stoop your level, and find a link of someone who agrees, although I don't see that as proof. The proof (CONT)
(CONT) comes from a historical understanding that quite plausibly won't be found by searching for it on the internet, despite your idiotic assertion to the contrary. I'll be right back with a link of someone who understands McCarthy's influence on "In God We Trust".
@firegod001 Oh goody! You'll stoop to my level, by actually backing up one of your assertions. Sort of. You'll find another person on the World Wide Web who believes McCarthy got "In God We Trust" put on our legal tender. That will prove it's true, even though all the authoritative figures say it isn't. And that proof will somehow absolve Obama for flubbing his recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance.
@KiddVid Oh, I'm so sorry I did what you BEGGED me to do. Since I wasn't going on anything I read on the net, which is something you seem to be addicted to doing yourself, I simply found a site and gave it to you. But of course, that wasn't good enough. No, you had to continue to whine like a little baby. What happened to your claim about no one else recognizing that McCarthy was as influential as he was? That went away real fast......
@firegod001 I didn't beg, and you didn't provide a source to back up your crazy ideas. It doesn't matter if your source is listed on the Internet or not, but it would be nice if it was a source that people recognize and expect to be reasonably accurate. Something like the official Congressional Record, Library of Congress, etc. You know, like I provided. But only if you want to be believed. If you want everyone to keep doubting you and viewing you as a loon, keep up your current methods.
(CONT) It wasn't just specific persecution; it was a movement that he was a gigantic part of. He did in fact have a ton to do with our motto changing from "E Pluribus Unum" to "In God We Trust", and you would know that if you spent half as much time reading books as you do GOOGLING.
@firegod001 Right, you said "most of our money." More specifically, you said "Before his idiotic and cowardly persecution of anything he remotely thought smelled like communism, most of our money said, 'E PLURIBUS UNUM;." That is still on most of our currency, and all of our coins. That was not affected by the Tydings Committee Hearings, or any other aspect of Senator McCarthy's charges of communism. Do you have anything that supports your version of history?
@KiddVid Then that is what you should have nit-picked, not the fact that McCarthy had a lot to do with having "In God We Trust" put on our currency, which he did. You are the most nit-picky, douchy little moron I've ever met on You Tube, and you have no idea how much you and your ilk are damaging this country, and the ideals our founding fathers fought so hard to protect.
@firegod001 I haven't nitpicked. You were wrong about too many things to address them all in one post. You've tried to rewrite history, and I've corrected the record. I even "stooped" to providing enough info that you and others can verify the truth of my statements and the falsity of yours. I love it when people provide proof. I can see why you wouldn't like it though.
@KiddVid That is just silly . In America you are really backward at shedding these primitive superstitions. Western Europe swopped God for good Coffee ,and we were happy with the deal. Which former glory are you referring to? The days of slavery , or genodice of the Natives? 60`s Paranoia , 60`s civil strive and segregation?
Oh , I get it , you want Bill Clinton back . Good call .He was a great president.
@KiddVid What a dumbass. No one is saying they don't like freedom of religion. It's actually the opposite. If you would take your head out of your theocratic ass long enough, you'd see that this kind of government sanctioned religion fights AGAINST freedom of religion.
@firegod001 "Real" research? You mean like Internet chat rooms and blogs? Why don't you consider our historical records on file at the Library of Congress to be real? Why do you consider cartoons more real than reality?
@KiddVid First of all, I wasn't talking to you. Secondly, you are the most creative, delusional character I've met in a long time when it comes to making assumptions about people, as about 75% of the assumptions you've made about me have been completely false. Maybe you're confusing me with yourself? It certainly wouldn't surprise me, coming from someone as brainwashed as you obviously are by ridiculous, overly creative fairy tales written thousands of years ago.
@firegod001 Maybe not, but you were talking to me when you sent a message to my inbox, telling me the reason you don't know anything about history is because only a "dumbass" would take the time to research it. It doesn't matter who you were talking to here, because this is a public forum, and we can all see what you post and respond to it. That's the way it works, dumb ass. Now why don't you post some of the chat room gossip you sent to my inbox and try to pass it off here as research?
@KiddVid I obviously said absolutely nothing like that, but maybe something like that happened in one of your wet dreams! And you begging like a little douche for me to send you a site when my knowledge didn't come from a site, and me finally doing a quick search and sending you one does not constitute me trying to do research. Please go back to your fantasies, because you attempting to be factual is a complete joke.
@firegod001 I didn't ask you for a link. I asked you for a source. Instead, you sent me a link to some chat room gossip. You were obviously too embarrassed to post it, so you sent it to my inbox. I don't know if I can post the link here, but I'll try.
@KiddVid No, I told you why I sent it to your inbox, because it wouldn't post here, you complete douche nozzle. Apparently, I don't have your patience with the site blocking that goes on on this stupid site. This is about the 15th lie you've told about me. Keep going, because it's very entertaining.
@firegod001 "HUH HUH HUH HUH..." What the hell are you talking about? You are ten years older than me but I'm ten times more mentally advanced than you. I'm not going to engage in an ad hominem war with you any longer. This all came about from me saying it was funny that Obama said "We pledge allegiance..." I thought it was traditionally "I pledge..." If you thought differently, why didn't you just say it nicely instead of calling me an "assface" or something like you did? It's not required.
@firegod001 You said "buy a fucking clue" so you clearly started it. Had you just said what you had to say nicely, i.e., "It is customary for the person leading the reciting of the pledge to say 'we.'" without the "buy a fucking a clue" at the end, I would have had no right to call you a dumbass and you wouldn't have started the ad hominem war we engaged in. I admit I should have said right away what I'm saying now instead of engaging you, so I am also responsible, but you started it.
@BboyMindless I suggest you read the text of Church of the Holy Trinity vs the United States, a Supreme Court Case from somewhere in the 1800's? I believe. It gets into both matters of how the establishment clause might be taken and the christian nature of the country and freedom of religion - which in the past was most often taken as 'freedom to worship God in one's own concience'. (For all those athiests who insist that athiesm is no religion anyway.)
@BboyMindless We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other. ~ John Adams
How so? The people of America were always expected to be religious and moral by our founders
@pixygiggles That context however is very different from the 'wall of seperation' that people take it as now. Even if one takes Jefferson's views (which again, were the minority of the time), Jefferson did not think that government had any right to interfer with religion and should indeed make accomadations for its teaching even if itself could not itself teach it, (like letting religious institutions teach classes at government schools as he thought it needed tought).
@PersephonesFear I agree with everything you responded with. I guess the only thing I would add, though, is that while Jefferson was in the minority, the other framers had to have seen some merit in his argument for the actual First Amendment to have been worded so delicately. No specific god or religion is ever mentioned anywhere in the Constitution as a result.
@pixygiggles Thomas Jefferson wrote that letter discussing the matter of christianity int he common law - and because he -disagreed- with the majority of the framers of the constitution who -did- intend Christianity to be a part of that common law. Thomas Jefferson thought that even if the majority of the populace was one religion it should not be influencing law -without- going through the legal process (such as majority christian juries influencing the legal system through precedent, etc,)
I have only one request to make, and that is to put the Pledge of Allegiance back into our school systems in the USA. And put God back into business and back in the lead. This country ain't nothing with out our loving and almighty God. And without God our country, WE ARE LOSERS!! Think about it!! We lost our war in Iraq and now we're LOSING OUR JOBS AT HOME!!! Am I right or AM I WRONG?? DO YOU STILL WANT TO KEEP YOUR JOBS MY FELLOW BROS AND SISTERS OF AMERICA?
When it comes to the Pledge, you could here that a couple of people paused when they reached the part saying, "Under God." The law says that “Under God” is part of the Pledge, but the first amendment gives all of us the right to not say that part. That is what makes America great. The part saying, “Under God is also what makes our country great. I personally will always say, “Under God” while reciting the pledge, and I will say it LOUD and with pride.
WELL, THEN MY FRIEND LET'S GO ON A MARCH TO FIGHT IT OUT WITH THE US SENATE AND TAKE A GROUP OF PROSTESTORS ALONG WITH US! WE'RE GOING TO FORCE THE US SENATE TO TURN THIS COURTRY BACK TO GOD AND PUT THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE BACK IN OUR SCHOOLS!!!
Worthless anti-American Marxist piece of turd. It is a FACT, documented in underground videos, that Michelle O. puts on a strap-on each night and rams Barry up the ass. Barry is reported to love it. Michelle is the real President.
OBAMA NEEDS TO GET IMPEACHED! (HE STILL HAS NOT SHOWN HIS BIRTH CERTIFICITE THAT HE WAS BORN IN AMERICA, he is letting in tons of illegals into our country and giving them free benifits.... yet what does he give the people in america who are citizens??? TAXES! OUT WITH OBAMA! damn no good country killer. all who follow him are blind. change doesn't mean that it is for the better.
@PissyGranny Wow, you're really reaching, but, nope. He has said the Pledge numerous times. That's it. Its over. Go manufacture some more pointless outrage...
@PissyGranny Ya he must be part of the aliens I didn't here him recite it in his 2423 speech either. He is working with the aliens our brains are going to get eaten.
To bad the conservatives and liberals killed each other in the year 2159 now we just have the neo liberals and neo conservatives.
As for this truly excellent theological question about God being all knowing. How about this? God knows what He wants to know. He is God. We don’t tell Him what He knows or doesn’t know.
For us to make the choice to love or hate Him, he had to give us free will. Adam, Eve, you and I have all chosen poorly. We have each one gone our own way. If He wants to look upon your future it is at His hand to see it.
I think the "ridiculous rumor" comes from the video that shows that in crowd of people with their hands on their hearst or military people saluting during the national anthem, he was the only one NOT.
Clearly this is Senator Obama, not President Obama, and just because he mumbles a few words does not mean he is making a Pledge to America. Notice how he is always looking down and reading the words in front of him, clearly he has no idea what he is saying. reece2076 did you also learn that America had 57 States? Gee what area does contain 57 states? Islam has 57 States, thats right reece2076. Remember Obamas quote where he said he visited the 57 States of America during his Campaign?
Yes DanteStar7, it is "I Pledge" and not "WE" and did you notice he does not say "God" either?
To reece2076:
I hope you enjoy R-Tard School because your ed-ja-ma-kation (education for those in the Real World) has been a complete waste of time, resources, and oxygen. Do the United States of America justice and commit suicide, please. I am begging you.
This video is bogus. I can't see nor hear him saying the pledge. Besides its 2010, even IF he did say it, which i doubt, he didnt say it as president of the united states.
His voice is drowned out by the 20+ other guys in the room reciting it at the same time. And note the date that the video was posted: February 24, 2008; and look at the title.
If the president, then senator is saying the pledge, which he may be. It is not being picked up because he turns to the flag, away from the mic. That is fine. You say; he may have said it quicker than the other people and that is why as he turns back around that is why he is not heard in the mic. I am talking about this recording, not policies. Can you get on this page with me? This video... This video.
Since talking about this, I reviewed the vid. Actually, the Presidents first words are heard and he is facing away from the mic. He reduces his volume as others join in. He doesn't actually appear to be saying anything at this point although I will admit that the quality of the vid is poor. When he turns back to mic near end of pledge, he IS NOT SPEAKING. Make or don't make of it what you will.
The only attacking being done is just now when you chose to refer to me as one of those "sad individuals". All I have done is point out what you and I both hear and don't hear on this recording. "Mic malfunction", wow, lame. Face the facts of what is here. I guess it depends on what your def. of is, is. The president is not discussing issues on this vid he is "leading the pledge". That is waht this vid is about.
WOW,,,,,, I thought it was "I Pledge", not "We pledge"..... what is that all about? I heard the president say the first three words and not one there after..... interesting.
Sorry Cal... no offense but listen again, it is clearly we and I don't even know what that suggests but just caught my ear. I am a studio musician and singer things like that jump out at me. Go back, listen again and think "We" a few times then go back and think "I" a few times. See if you still land on I.
Respectfully, you are missing "the" point. The president says "We pledge allegiance" Then he; of course turns toward the flag and away from the mic. As the pledge continues his voice is not heard. As the pledge concludes; he turns back to microphone and is not speaking. I don't know that this means anything, I'm just saying that this is what is factually going on in this video/audio recording. There is NO evidence "hear" pun intended, that the Senator Obama actually said the pledge.
@DanteStar7 Why is this an issue? He clearly says the beginning of the Pledge. The rest of it may just be his microphone malfunctioning. As for the end of the Pledge, some people say it faster than others. Why can't you just give the man the benefit of the doubt? Seems to me like you are one of those sad individuals who attacks a man's patriotism, instead of just debating the issues.
You R-Tard, did you seriously just say that, his mic is malfunctioning, his lips are not moving either so I suppose they as well are malfunctioning. What an Idiot, why do you wake up and get out of bed each day??? Seriously!!!

Till now I thought that the state of the US is separated from the Church. Why do they say: "... one nation under God" ? And they do it face to face to a flag? Hmm.. it´s really not easy to understand for someone from Europe.
matjesworld 10 months ago
@matjesworld We say this because we Americans are morons. Few of us know anything of the history of our own country, as such many of us are under the impression that the United States was founded as a Christian republic. These poor delusional individuals (most of the population) then make the decision to ignore the separation of church and state based on their own idiocy. You've just learned all you need to know about U.S. culture in a single paragraph.
20vtmk1 10 months ago
@20vtmk1... Thank you for your opinion. I guess I know what you mean. And for me it´s always interesting to learn something about the other cultures. For example, we got a German pope, you know, but he is absolutely unimportant for the politics. Well, generally, the US habits are not always the same like those of the Europeans, but .... it´s interesting. ((-;

How nice that our President said the pledge today. It's a pity he's not motivated to say it EVERY time he's in public, rather than omit it on certain days when he's not in the mood. When Americans do this at sports games, it's unfortunate. When a President of the United States does this, it is shameful.

The lie that the founding fathers of the country described the first amendment as "creating a wall of separation between church and state". No lie there at all! It pretty astoundingly obvious to all except extreme fundamentalists that that must be what it meant!

"There is no separation of Church and State. "
That a damn lie.

Could an American clear this up for me... If your bill of rights claims for freedom of religion. Why would there be a prayer (especially one mentioning jesus) here?
Xethavosh 1 year ago
@Xethavosh ignore the rumors. This is what The First Amendment actually says about religion. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." There is no separation of Church and State. There is no prohibition against Christianity. The 1st Amendment secures the right to pray, it doesn't prevent it.
KiddVid 1 year ago 44
@KiddVid So you are saying there is no freedom of religion? Why have such respect for christianity as to have a prayer for it but no others?
Xethavosh 1 year ago
@Xethavosh How could you possibly interpret The First Amendment of our Constitution to mean there is no freedom of religion? It means exactly the opposite.
KiddVid 1 year ago 17
@KiddVid I did not interpret it that way. You said it was not about seperation of church and state. You claimed that it was about freedom of religion, and that state should not hold respect towards religion.
I then asked. Why have a specifically chrisitian prayer?
Xethavosh 1 year ago

Xethavosh 1 year ago
@Xethavosh That's sad. If you were fluent in some language, any language, there might be some hope. I don't really have time to tutor you in the meanings of words. I see you have a specific problem with the word "respecting." I'll give you a hint: It doesn't mean the same thing in the real world as it means in the ghetto. Look it up in a dictionary. I think you'll be surprised.
KiddVid 1 year ago 15
@KiddVid I know what the word means. I don't speak ghetto slang either. What I am saying is that they shouldn't have a prayer for a specific religion in a government meeting.
Xethavosh 1 year ago
@Xethavosh If you know what the founders meant by "respecting" why did you say they meant "state should not hold respect towards religion?" No one who is fluent in English could possibly come up with that interpretation.

Most of our founding fathers believed it was very important to have it.
firegod001 7 months ago
@Xethavosh Yeah, it's pretty hypocritical and I think it should not be there. It shows the hypocrisy that the USA has ALWAYS had and still has today. I would hope they would at least invite preachers of different religions to come pray there before they go through that session but I really doubt it for some reason... it would still be out of place in any government function since the constitution states that the government shouldn't be endorsing any religion.
lifthz 1 year ago
@lifthz Speaking of hypocrites, I didn't see your objection to Imam Abdullah Antepli's muslim prayer in a session of Congress. I didn't see you object to any White House ramadan celebration. I haven't seen you object to freedom of any religion other than Christianity, though I'd be willing to bet your objections extend to Judaism (just a hunch). So you see, those you accuse of hypocrisy have actually invited a diverse group of people from many religions. The hypocrisy is all yours.
KiddVid 1 year ago 16
@KiddVid I am not in the business of watching every single congress session, but perhaps you are. I don't care what religion it is... it is hypocritical on the part of the congross to be supporting any religion within its sessions. This would support the notion that the congress is somehow polytheistic which is blashpemy by saying they are under God. Or to say like Obama, Bush and other said that they are Christians but they believe there are "many paths to God". A non-believer says that.
lifthz 1 year ago
@lifthz Thank you for that demonstration of real hypocrisy. First you say they're hypocrites because you claim other religions are not allowed to pray, then you say they're hypocrites because other religions are allowed to pray. You've made the accusation, and you won't be swayed by the truth.
KiddVid 1 year ago 18
@KiddVid A human mistake on my part of not knowing everything... not hypocrisy on my part. I was not aware that they would let any prayer in there in the first place. This is why I said " really doubt it for some reason" if you read correctly. Secondly, I support my response... there should be no religion in there at all.
lifthz 1 year ago
@lifthz Show me where our Constitution says "Congress shall make laws prohibiting the free exercise of religion."
If you don't like the freedom of religion we have, there are other freedoms you might wish to avail yourself of. Like the freedom to leave. But if you choose to stay here, you should get used to the idea that your selfishness doesn't override our freedoms.
KiddVid 1 year ago 17
@KiddVid Has nothing to do with freedom of religion which under the law should be allowed to be practiced in any place private of public, but when it comes to congress it's a matter of placing religion in congress where it isn't supposed to belong.

That does not contradict anyone or anything worthwhile. It only contradicts a godless world view. We should all strive to contradict godlessness at every turn.

@KiddVid Interesting, especially considering th at an accurate portrayal of the original pledge would not have "under God" in it. It was until the 50s that your hero McCarthy put that phrase in there. I'll stick with the original, thank you very much.
firegod001 7 months ago
@firegod001 Senator Joe McCarthy changed the Pledge of Allegiance? You might want to google that. In your search, it might help to include such phrases as "Initiated by Louis Bowman," "Knights of Columbus prompted the president," "George MacPherson Docherty sermon 'A New Birth of Freedom' based on Lincoln's Gettysburg Address," "Congressman Charles Oakman introduced bill," "Congress voted unanimously," and "President Eisenhower signed the bill into law." The current Pledge is the official one.
KiddVid 7 months ago
@KiddVid You are correct. My bad. However, he did have a lot more to do with putting "In God We Trust" on our money. Before his idiotic and cowardly persecution of anything he remotely thought smelled like communism, most of our money said, "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Your last sentence is stupid as hell. We all know it's the "official" pledge. We wouldn't be complaining otherwise. However, it wasn't official until a bunch of retards made the phrase up, and slapped it on there.
firegod001 7 months ago
@firegod001 Wrong again. "In God We Trust" was used on American legal tender in 1864. McCarthy wasn't even born until 1908.
In case you've forgotten what this video is about, I said the current Pledge is the official one, to bring this conversation back to the point that Obama failed to recite the official Pledge of Allegiance. Your petty little arguments against the Pledge can't change that fact. It's still the official Pledge, and Obumbler still flubbed it.
Google Matthew Herman Rothert Sr.
KiddVid 7 months ago
@KiddVid I am not wrong. I know that it was used in 1864, and that in no way contradicts what I said. I said most of our money. Your reading comprehension obviously needs a lot of work. And I've personally heard Obama say "under god" in the pledge at least three times, and at least once before all this ultra right-wing fiction about him refusing to do it began. Your ignorance on this subject is astounding.
firegod001 7 months ago
@firegod001 You are wrong. Senator McCarthy had no more to do with putting "In God We Trust" on our money than he had to do with adding "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. What contributions do you think he made to these issues? Can you share what makes you think McCarthy had a lot more to do with putting "In God We Trust" on our money? I tried googling it, but couldn't find anyone else who claimed to believe that. Meanwhile, did you google Matthew Herman Rothert Sr?
KiddVid 7 months ago 2
@KiddVid No, I'm not wrong, and it doesn't matter how many times you say it. I don't have to google Rothert, as I already know of his involvement. And th ere are things you can know that cannot be found on google, my idiotic man... If you knew anything about McCarthy in the 50s, you'd know that he was a very strong influence in a general, radical movement to persecute any and all suspected communists, and many times just because someone didn't believe in a god. @KiddVid No, I don't know it in my heart, and I would appreciate if you would stop putting words in my mouth. I know it because I understand what McCarthy did. I will stoop your level, and find a link of someone who agrees, although I don't see that as proof. The proof (CONT)

@firegod001 Oh goody! You'll stoop to my level, by actually backing up one of your assertions. Sort of.
PersephonesFear 1 year ago
@BboyMindless We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other. ~ John Adams
How so? The people of America were always expected to be religious and moral by our founders
PersephonesFear 1 year ago
@pixygiggles That context however is very different from the 'wall of seperation' that people take it as now. Even if one takes Jefferson's views (which again, were the minority of the time), Jefferson did not think that government had any right to interfer with religion and should indeed make accomadations for its teaching even if itself could not itself teach it, (like letting religious institutions teach classes at government schools as he thought it needed tought).
PersephonesFear 1 year ago
@PersephonesFear I agree with everything you responded with. I guess the only thing I would add, though, is that while Jefferson was in the minority, the other framers had to have seen some merit in his argument for the actual First Amendment to have been worded so delicately. No specific god or religion is ever mentioned anywhere in the Constitution as a result.
pixygiggles 1 year ago
@pixygiggles Thomas Jefferson wrote that letter discussing the matter of christianity int he common law - and because he -disagreed- with the majority of the framers of the constitution who -did- intend Christianity to be a part of that common law. Thomas Jefferson thought that even if the majority of the populace was one religion it should not be influencing law -without- going through the legal process (such as majority christian juries influencing the legal system through precedent, etc,)

Hi Doug, I got a question too, what has happened to America?
DanteStar7 1 year ago
I have only one request to make, and that is to put the Pledge of Allegiance back into our school systems in the USA. And put God back into business and back in the lead. This country ain't nothing with out our loving and almighty God. And without God our country, WE ARE LOSERS!! Think about it!! We lost our war in Iraq and now we're LOSING OUR JOBS AT HOME!!! Am I right or AM I WRONG?? DO YOU STILL WANT TO KEEP YOUR JOBS MY FELLOW BROS AND SISTERS OF AMERICA?
jy0485 1 year ago

@PissyGranny Wow, you're really reaching, but, nope. He has said the Pledge numerous times. That's it. Its over. Go manufacture some more pointless outrage...

ProudSoldiersGirl18 1 year ago
Clearly this is Senator Obama, not President Obama, and just because he mumbles a few words does not mean he is making a Pledge to America. Notice how he is always looking down and reading the words in front of him, clearly he has no idea what he is saying. reece2076 did you also learn that America had 57 States? Gee what area does contain 57 states? Islam has 57 States, thats right reece2076. Remember Obamas quote where he said he visited the 57 States of America during his Campaign?
cybercapri 1 year ago
Yes DanteStar7, it is "I Pledge" and not "WE" and did you notice he does not say "God" either?
To reece2076:
I hope you enjoy R-Tard School because your ed-ja-ma-kation (education for those in the Real World) has been a complete waste of time, resources, and oxygen. Do the United States of America justice and commit suicide, please. I am begging you.
cybercapri 1 year ago
This video is bogus. I can't see nor hear him saying the pledge. Besides its 2010, even IF he did say it, which i doubt, he didnt say it as president of the united states.
1990abell 1 year ago
@1990abell
His voice is drowned out by the 20+ other guys in the room reciting it at the same time. And note the date that the video was posted: February 24, 2008; and look at the title.

Its I pledge and always has been
girdybirdy 1 year ago
If the president, then senator is saying the pledge, which he may be. It is not being picked up because he turns to the flag, away from the mic. That is fine. You say; he may have said it quicker than the other people and that is why as he turns back around that is why he is not heard in the mic. I am talking about this recording, not policies. Can you get on this page with me? This video... This video.
DanteStar7 1 year ago
Since talking about this, I reviewed the vid. Actually, the Presidents first words are heard and he is facing away from the mic. He reduces his volume as others join in. He doesn't actually appear to be saying anything at this point although I will admit that the quality of the vid is poor. When he turns back to mic near end of pledge, he IS NOT SPEAKING. Make or don't make of it what you will.
Best Wishes
DanteStar7 1 year ago
The only attacking being done is just now when you chose to refer to me as one of those "sad individuals". All I have done is point out what you and I both hear and don't hear on this recording. "Mic malfunction", wow, lame. Face the facts of what is here. I guess it depends on what your def. of is, is. The president is not discussing issues on this vid he is "leading the pledge". That is waht this vid is about.

WOW,,,,,, I thought it was "I Pledge", not "We pledge"..... what is that all about? I heard the president say the first three words and not one there after..... interesting.

Sounded like "I" to me.
Calidris0 1 year ago
Sorry Cal... no offense but listen again, it is clearly we and I don't even know what that suggests but just caught my ear. I am a studio musician and singer things like that jump out at me. Go back, listen again and think "We" a few times then go back and think "I" a few times. See if you still land on I.
Best wishes,
dante
DanteStar7 1 year ago
I stand corrected. I turned my volume way up, and it clearly was "We". Speaking for the Senate?
Calidris0 1 year ago
@DanteStar7 You're missing the point. Whether its "we" or "I" he still recites the rest including "...pledge allegiance."
olivemike81 1 year ago
olivemike
Respectfully, you are missing "the" point. The president says "We pledge allegiance" Then he; of course turns toward the flag and away from the mic. As the pledge continues his voice is not heard. As the pledge concludes; he turns back to microphone and is not speaking. I don't know that this means anything, I'm just saying that this is what is factually going on in this video/audio recording. There is NO evidence "hear" pun intended, that the Senator Obama actually said the pledge.
DanteStar7 1 year ago
@DanteStar7 Why is this an issue? He clearly says the beginning of the Pledge. The rest of it may just be his microphone malfunctioning. As for the end of the Pledge, some people say it faster than others. Why can't you just give the man the benefit of the doubt? Seems to me like you are one of those sad individuals who attacks a man's patriotism, instead of just debating the issues.
olivemike81 1 year ago
@olivemike81
You R-Tard, did you seriously just say that, his mic is malfunctioning, his lips are not moving either so I suppose they as well are malfunctioning. What an Idiot, why do you wake up and get out of bed each day??? Seriously!!!
