In mainland China (and probably Taiwan) there is intense discrimination (if hidden) against women who are not light-skinned or who have a "low" or "flat" nose. This is very unfair.Anyone who thinks these women are beautiful, would you love them if they had slightly darker skin?
everyone has beauty on the inside...there is NOT just one kind of beauty.

Since these are portraits, the colors can be forgiven, but if they were this light in real life, I would hope it is powdered and not natural. As you said, that discrimination is in China. Most westerns probably won't feel that way.
So, I can't say for the chinese comments, but apart from the one person who said so, don't assume you can tell what everyone else is finding beautiful. Physical beauty is much more than color.
Over the years, I have known three women who looked like that at one point of their lives. I was fortunate? that I had relationships with them, though the experiences were very painful/rocky at the time. I guess beautiful/talented girls are always full of drama...
Marvelous paintings, I wish u could teach me to paint like that, not even art school students can paint like this, almost anyone can get an art certificate but few can really capture the spirit of art, u have , I would be honored if u could teach me, but most like we're worlds apart. BTW do u understand anything I am writing :(
When I was younger, I used to like Western girls; as I grow older, I like Chinese girls more and more. I love the aspect of shared culture and history. I love the soft/more refined features of Chinese girls too.

this art work is just amazing, it almost as realistic as a photo, yet it captures more detail than a photo, photos can actually hide some stuff :)
