Apple bought a CPU manufacturer - there is a bit of a difference there. Rumor has it they are buying yet another. I also wouldn't get rid of your kindle just yet. I have a buddy that has both and still prefers the kindle for serious reading. As initially thought, the backlit LCD causes eye strain. The Kindles e-ink is much easier on the eyes and can be used in bright sunlight unlike the ipad.

Looks like a neat product as an entertainment item not a practical necessity. Has quite a few shortcomings when brought into comparison with laptops and netbooks but should compete very well with the ereader market. Esentially this is an oversized iPod with limited internet usage (no Flash support - Apple wants to CHARGE you for any media you wish to view or listen to - and the blind sheep are lining up and filling Steve Jobs coffers.)

Anyway its a cool idea - im waiting for the HP Slate.

No Flash support is a feature, god dammit. That way you don't have to load your browser up with flashblockers in order to make the web surfable.

Ima get one.. But not till 2ng gen. MAYBE. The cpu is barley bigger than the one in the iphone, but its 3 times as big! The games are tiny on a huge screen, which makes it dumb to play if you own a ipod or iphone which i do. so this isnt very appealing apple.

I am really dissapointed in Apple, they kinda used small little things and expanded on them in the Keynote, just so they could talk about something... One last rant, has anyone gave thought as to how difficult this thing will be to keep the screen clean? its a touch so your fingerprints will quickly make this thing a dirty and oily mess! i bet they don't even have a screen protector for it yet, oh yeah, its first generation so how much software and E-books are even compatible for it as of now? there is probable not a lot of content ready for it yet. just like when 64 bit comp processors first came out, wasn't a lot of apps compatible for them
