Without PATTY DUKE in this movie, it would pretty much be a yawn. Susan Hayward's brief scenes wouldn't have been enough to float the film, and the acting styles of Barbara Parkins and the late Sharon Tate (although they were fine) wouldn't have been sufficient to keep the film interesting.
Probably to her chagrin, I would have to say that without Patty Duke as Neely O'Hara, VOTD would be a forgotten movie-like the other Jackie Susann movie treatments.
Patty Duke was the big star and Susan Hayward and Lee Grant were the really good actresses in this film, even though we need to agree that Barbara Parkins and Sharon Tate were really beautiful and that the soundtrack was marvellous..

I rented this movie so I could see Sharon Tate, which I love, and while watching became a huge O'HARA Fan!
