Yes, he apparently likes, J.R.R. Tolkien, E. R. Eddison, Beowulf, Bruce Coville, David Eddings, Andre Norton, Brian Jacques, Anne McCaffrey, Raymond E. Feist, Mervyn Peake, Ursula K. Le Guin, Frank Herbert, Jane Yolen, Phillip Pullman, and Garth Nix..
I wish that I can meet Christopher and tell him how proud he makes young people like me feel. But I live in the Caribbean and it's not like if he'll do a book tour in Trinidad. Oh well, hopefully one day I'll get him to sign one of the books, my personal favourite was Eldest. Brisinger made me cry and alternately scratch my head, that part about Grimr Halfpaw was cool and it only made me want to know more. PLEASE FINISH THE 4th BOOK MAN!!!!!!!!!
@MrWSherwood Do you know that the languages of Tolkien are based on old, but real languages? I don't think so, if I read your comment. More than one author of fantasy use the same languages to write their books (or the languages they use for elves, dwarves,..). Paolini is just one of them, and the name of the Dwarf King is a good example: its the same name of the King in the poem "Beowulf". And even Tolkien said that Beowulf was his greatest inspiration for his books. So, what do you say now?
@JARHuygebaert Well, firstly I say that I did know that Tolkien was inspired by the archaic germanic languages so don't you dare judge me on that as I most definately know my stuff when it comes to Tolkien. Secondly, I would let Paolini off but words like Mithrim (Tolkien: Mithril) and Isidar (Tolkien: Isildur) etc are just to similar. Thirdly, I knew from the moment I read the name in 'Eragon' who Hrothgar was in 'Beowulf' and that Tolkien studied it for over fifty years. Fourthly,
@JARHuygebaert Something that not many people really take into account but the layout of the map. It is so similar to Tolkien's map of Middle-earth. I am not putting Paolini down for being inspired by Tolkien, every fantasy writer is and I am in firm belief that every fantasy novel after 'The Lord of the Rings' has had some input from the epic.
@JARHuygebaert Finally, and this goes to everyone. Stop assuming that people who post 'harsh' or 'rude' comments on videos do not know what they are talking about. Instead ask them why they think what they think and discuss your opinions instead of creating an argument when there is no need for one for God's sake!
This is the first video I've watched where Paolini doesn't sound arrogant. Perhaps he is just being himself in this video instead of trying to play the role of author.
eragon movie was horrible...i mean the cast was great...the fx were great...but the storyline sucked...they made it that bad that it cannot be continued...they skipped characters and events
It could have been a great movie but man they left so much out. They almost cant make the sequal because half the stuff that was supposed to happen in the first one didn't happen.
0:54 Has he read the Belgariad by David Eddings?

The one effect in the movie that REALLY sucked was when Eragon first rode Saphira. The worst green screen job I've ever seen. xD
