I can't believe how people can compare rugby players to nfl athletes. The reason why hits aren't that big in football is because every one is an animal. Rugby players do have talent, but not every one posses great talent. Every single NFL player has great talent. Every one is fast, every one is strong. A +6-6 330 pound man can run a 4-7 squat 600+ and bench 225 over 40 times. That is an NFL lineman.
the reason football players were pads is because people would literally die if we didnt. you rugby players arent even close to the athleticism of football players, so u dont need pads. case closed.
Football players get hurt BECAUSE they wear pads and make horrible, self-destructive hits. You don't see this in rugby because performing a head-first full body tackle would end your career and possibly your chances at walking ever again.
If football players didn't wear pads, they WOULDN'T be making those big hits. In fact, it would look quite a bit like rugby. Though there'd be a lot fewer 400 pound fatasses.
Jonah Lomu is 6'5 and 275 pounds, lean. He competes in bodybuilding in the off season for fun, simply because he's big and lean enough to do it. He's one of the fastest in the game. The only type who could stand a hit from him would be a heavy lineman. Don't kid yourself.
@RedWildz so why doesnt he play in the NFL? and make millions of dollars he cant thats why.. rugby players simply cant play in the nfl if you get a LB like patrick wilis to go against him i would love to see him try to run over willis.. just because he runs over scrub rugby players who cant play in the nfl doesnt mean he could truck Patrick willis
Hurrr durrrr, because the USA is the only country in the world and football is played everywhere and money is the only reason people do things, right? No, a guy like Lomu not playing in the NFL has nothing to do with the fact that he lives in fucking New Zealand, right? Has nothing to do with his sheer love of the rugby sport?
God damn, you know nothing about rugby and still talk shit. Go join a league and stop preaching your plebeian, narrow minded bullshit.
@RedWildz money is the main reason ppl do things.... nfl is a business.. rugby is a business as well.. and im sure if he could make 40 million dollars in 10 years of playing NFL football and be set for the rest of his life he would do that... BUT he cant play in the nfl
You realize the Dallas Cowboys tried to recruit him awhile back? So your assertion that "he can't play in the NFL" was pretty much pulled out of your ass without any research, wasn't it? That said, if you think more than a handful of NFL players could endure the intensity of a standard length rugby game, you're fucked out of your head. Sprints and hits for an hour straight, no "huddles" every 20 seconds with 10 - 15 seconds of play in between. Wake up.
@RedWildz NFL is way more of a dangerous game than rugby... and no it didnt come out of my ass bcuz if ur dumass did research on it you would know dallas told him they didnt want him bcuz he wasnt fast enough. he did want to play but couldnt
@RedWildz search Bruce Campbell linemen for the raiders.. hes 6'6 almost 320 and ran a 4.6 40... hes not very good.. and your trippin saying rugby players run more in one game than football players do in their whole careers LMAO... your hilarious..
You've proven time and time again that you know absolutely nothing about rugby. You are clearly some junior varsity football playing sophomore at some no name high school. Watch the fucking sport before you go on about how unathletic the players are. You're speaking from no experience; aka completely out from your ego and out of your ass.
And for the record, no one gives a damn which sport is more "dangerous." The fact is rugby takes greater athleticism overall to excel in it. The amount of yards an average rugby player sprints in the course of one game is probably close to the amount an NFL player does in an entire season.
All right, first of all that's not a "proven fact." You're pulling things out of your ass again. Secondly, how hard the hits are has nothing to do with athleticism. NFL hits are worse than basketball, golf or gymnastic hits too, who gives a fuck? That's not the point of any of the games. Thirdly, have you read ANY of the comments? Rugby hits may not be harder, but they are smarter. Rugby tackling technique is much safer and efficient, whereas footballers just smash into others.
@RedWildz "The amount of yards an average rugby player sprints in the course of one game"
By that logic, marathoners are better athletes track athletes. The amount of times you do something is not indication of raw athleticism. A guy that runs 100 meters in 12 seconds 20 times is not a better athlete than a guy who can runs it in 9.8 seconds once.
That is not the logic I was using at all. The rugby athlete will not only sprint, but perform the duties of his position within the context of his sport. He must maintain athletic excellence while under constant and progressive intensity.
The fact is football and rugby involve essentially the same aim. The difference being rugby players are in motion for far longer periods of time, taking and delivering hits far more often in the process.
@mrApollo352 Play rugby... i dare you. football players wear pads because they need them so they don't get hurt because football players throw themselves at each other, they don't take the time to make smart, dedicated tackles it's who can throw their body weight harder.
All this bullshit talk about "form". That dude just raw cleaned almost 400#, and that's impressive as hell. Most people can't deadlift that much!! Football players are the most powerful, athletic and tough athletes on the planet. Fact!!
@RUBAN0606 You're right, rugby players are some bad mother fuckers. However, the reason they make football players wear pads is because players would die if they didn't -- many of the impacts would be catastrophic without protective gear. I know I sure as hell wouldn't want Ray Lewis nailing me after he's built up a full head of steam!
@RUBAN0606 Lol you little Eurotrash bitches don't even compare to the athleticism and strength of Football players, if there wasn't pads in Football people would die.
@GGxBeast People do die in Rugby! I've played american football before and all you guys are pansies when it comes to getting hit or tackled without pads. I've been getting hit without pads for a long time now and sustained numerous injuries, but you know what I still have brass balls to go out and play a sport that close to that of an actual fist fight!
@RUBAN0606 In the 110+ years of Rugby there's been 76 deaths, in one football year alone without pads (1907) there were 11 deaths. Oh and in 1905 there were atleast 20 deaths.
Now, I realize you're stupid, but you can do the math of that I believe.
Go against a real football player who lifts and has played for years and you'll get your stupid Eurotrash ass ran all over. Have you ever watched hard hits on youtube? Do yourself a favor and do so.
Let me tell you the fallacy of your argument. You assume that because football induces more injuries that it is, obviously, more devastating than rugby. From this, you also derive that football players must of course be stronger / more dangerous / more powerful. What you fail to realize is that using pads allows football players to think overconfidently and perform sloppy, injury-prone hits; whereas rugby players realize they are unarmored and thus use a bit more tact.
Furthermore, those same guys who make the "big hits?" Generally have short careers. How many of those "superstars" from college and high school that everyone admired for "wrecking those dudes" had to sit out games, even seasons, due to injuries? How many pro teams recruit these dime a dozen players for a few games before they take themselves out and get replaced within 2 years?
Rugby is a complete fusion of high intensity, hard hitting but intelligent play.
@GGxBeast Try Savers, and Rib Breakers. go watch some of those, and tell me that a Jonah Lomu would get run over by Adrian Peterson, i will place money that any Prop in rugby will out run, out man, and out hit any Defensive or offensive lineman in football, i will place money on the fact that any inside center, or outside center in rugby will crush any fullback, running back, or tail back in football, i will place money on the fact that any scrum half, is an overall better athlete than any qb.
As far as overall athleticism goes, yes, many pro football players would make the list. But most powerful? Olympic lifters, you know, the guys cleaning 3 times their bodyweight and training 2 times a day, 7 days a week? Sprinters? Championship boxers? Gymnasts, probably the most athletically gifted individuals on the planet?
Football is a fairly simple sport -- and is certainly not a good indicator of an elite athlete outside of speed and strength trials.
@RedWildz Good comments. I rate football players so highly because they combine the highest levels of strength, agility, explosive power, speed, the ability to compete injured (mental toughness), and are a mainstream sport which draws from a large pool of athletes across the nation, most of whom start competing while pre-teens. These guys truly represent the gladiator spirit in American athletics. Decathlete's may be best all-around athlete, but I can't think of but a few that made it in the NFL
why is everyone complaining about the form??? He's a football player not an Olympian. I agree that it's not the best form but for football lifting it's fine. Plus it's an ass load of weight. You people are acting like he reverse curled it which is a really bad form for cleans. Get off his dick ya'll just hating cause u cant even clean half of that weight.
@MrMD23 and @ajwazhere Im a stickler on form too. im in highschool and one of the only kids with good form in the gym even though im not that strong yet. I would let this count because here bad form isnt helping him. if he did a half squat or bounced on a deadlift or bench or somethin then yeah, but here it doesnt help so go ahead and count it.
Wow that is an insane amount of weight to be powercleaning with this bad of technique! I give you props man! You really need to learn to clean properly though because you can get injured this way! A couple tips would be to keep your butt down on the pull and actually hit it off your hips!!!! It looks like you just pulling it up there also dont spread you feet so wide !! more hips could easily get you a 182kg (400.4lbs) powerclean. learn to full clean its a better work out for your body
@MrMD23 "Not like it's going to be perfect form when maxing out" Are you retarded? All of the Olympic records and world records are set with DAMN perfect form. This guy's form is crap because he had a crap coach in high school and never took it upon himself to learn.
@MrMD23 That's not the point. The point is when you're maxing, the only way to get a "true" max is with perfect form. Similar to the only way you're going to get a world record throw, or a world record jump is with perfect form.
@drewplum there are no such thing as black plates. the black you see are plates but hey have a strip through the middle of the black to identify what kinda of plate it is.
@ blitzac2005 i agree about the form but i would just lit him be lol haha its like fixing a sprinter who is blazing fast but if you try to fix his technique he will slow down
That technique qas awful dude could have fucked himself up. But at the same time to do that with all raw power and fundamentals is nothing to be sniffed at
@Rochabp I think your confused. This is from Wake Forest University and the NCAA randomly drug tests all athletes. The University drug tests its own athletes as well.
Holy shit! He lifted it all with his lower back! That's insane! Definitely not the way you're supposed to do a power clean, but Aaron pulled that shit off.
Jesus Christ! AC is fuckin GIFTED! yea I agree, his form is a little out of wack. He used all lower back to get that up, but he's legit enough to pull that shit off. Any other fool would probably throw out his lower back and pull a hammy with that form. This dude is explosive as shit tho!!! very impressive!
Who gives a shit if it was bad technique, you pussies wish you could do this, his bad technique got him to be the 4th overall pick. All you form nazies are idiots, you are always the fags at the gym who cant lift shit, stop being envious of people who are stronger than you.
I guess if its a college gym! But in a real gym, this would not fly. And it most certainly is NOT necessary to yell like that, no matter the weight being lifted. That is just silly. Watch the pro's train, and you will find most (who lift more than this guy) do not need to yell at all.
@chadley6916 maybe because those pros are already ridiculously strong. also, yes it is unnecessary but wat r yu complaining about. its boys being boys.
@chadley6916 its a college weightroom with 18-23 year old men. they're gonna yell. im in high school and were louder than tht? why wouldnt you wan to yell its necesary yelling is proven to help release more power from muscles
@chadley6916 its the wake forest weight room you dumb fuck, its all college football players, i bet you listen to classical music when you work out too.

So funny to see all those americans screaming all the time. do they know everybody is laughing at them. (90% of lifters especially in football who puts vids on youtube have horrible form. all those college. they dont have coach or they are incompetent. they all cheat to lift more. acting like tough sob when average lifter in europe would pawn them. so funny to see how americans are arrogant and cocky
holy SHIT this dude is insanely strong, ridiculous power, there aren't many weightlifters in America who can even power clean 170kg with good technique.
Where's the strength and conditioning coach while this is going on?... It's all fun and games till your #1 prospect pulls his groin or blows out a knee doing crappy cleans... Now, AC is a great athlete, dont get me wrong, and what he is doing is very impressive... But it's the s&c coach's job to make sure Aaron is doing the lift correctly and using his God given talent and actually getting better at the lift and his game play getting better as a result. That lift, though heavy, isnt helping AC
wonder what this guy could do full trained on a weightlifting platform, that's a 170kg power clean with some good things right get it together maybe a 190kg full clean?
Aaron Curry in the weightroom is a fierce sight to behold, no doubt. But I couldn't help but notice: Aaron (b. 1985) shares an APRIL 6 birthday with actress CANdACE HELaINe CAMERON BURe, the sister of "Growing Pains" actor KIRK CAMERON. She's best known 4 playing D. J. TANner on television sitcom "Full HOUSE". Surname BURe starts like BURR, linking CURRY at WINSTON-SALEM's Wake Forest Univ. with U.S. Sen. RICHARD M. BURR from that city. D.J. TANner links to "time rollback" through AshFORD sales
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
From the guess who's coming to dinner theme: Actress CANdACE HELaINe CAMERON BURe could remind of Duke Univ.'s CAMERON INdoor Stadium in DurHAM, NC or the ill-fated Thanksgiving 1991 (PALINdrome year links to "time rollback") trek for WINSTON-SALEM student CANdACE LEE BLAKELY, which ended tragically in West Virginia on Interstate 81. The accident's lone survivor, Guy PARKS, evokes the "homeless vs. mortgage" theme, considering hanging out at MLK park in 27801 around the turn of the 21st century
Keeping it in the Wake Forest Demon Deacons sports circle, consider that the football team's current roster has strong safety Chyl QUARLES. He was born on Aaron Curry's 4th birthday (APRIL 6, 1989 to Amelia and Kelvin Quarles), but is presumably no relation to longtime TV newswoman NorMA QUARLES. Chyl QUARLES attended MEADOWcreek High School in Norcross, GA, located at 4455 Steve Reynolds Blvd. (zip 30093). Town name NORcross begins like first name NORma. First name CHY only needs ER for CHERYL
Chyl QUARLES' MEADowCREEK High School could remind of basketball's MEADOWlark Lemon, who was born APRIL 25, 1932 in WILMINGTON, NC--exactly 44 years before Wake Forest Demon Deacons basketball player Tim Duncan was born on APRIL 25, 1976 in Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands. Unrelated: NORma QUARLES saying in an interview published at mediabistro.moc/tvnewser/ that she decided — as "a LARK!" — to answer an open call for talent at a local radio station, when she was 29 and living in CHICAGO
Nice lift. Man I don't miss those days. Wait till you hit 35, you won't be able to walk upright, your knees will ache all day, your ankles will sprain on the smallest rock, your back will go out blowing your nose. Trust me, if your a young guy, don't overdo your workouts. There will be a time when you regret it in the NOT too distant future.
All I have to say about this rugby versus NFL argument is: Herschel Walker........NFL runningback and US olympic track athlete haha

he got it up and clean and its not like its gunna be perfect form when hes maxing out
MrMD23 9 months ago
@MrMD23 "Not like it's going to be perfect form when maxing out" Are you retarded? All of the Olympic records and world records are set with DAMN perfect form. This guy's form is crap because he had a crap coach in high school and never took it upon himself to learn.
ajwazhere 9 months ago
@ajwazhere is he an olympic power lifter...no hes a football player..
MrMD23 9 months ago
@MrMD23 That's not the point. The point is when you're maxing, the only way to get a "true" max is with perfect form. Similar to the only way you're going to get a world record throw, or a world record jump is with perfect form.
ajwazhere 9 months ago
Spreading the legs on power clean = stupid.
But whatever.

Jesus Christ! AC is fuckin GIFTED! yea I agree, his form is a little out of wack. He used all lower back to get that up, but he's legit enough to pull that shit off. Any other fool would probably throw out his lower back and pull a hammy with that form. This dude is explosive as shit tho!!! very impressive!
mandora45 1 year ago
Who gives a shit if it was bad technique, you pussies wish you could do this, his bad technique got him to be the 4th overall pick. All you form nazies are idiots, you are always the fags at the gym who cant lift shit, stop being envious of people who are stronger than you.

I guess if its a college gym! But in a real gym, this would not fly. And it most certainly is NOT necessary to yell like that, no matter the weight being lifted. That is just silly. Watch the pro's train, and you will find most (who lift more than this guy) do not need to yell at all.
chadley6916 1 year ago
@chadley6916 it's AARON FUCKING CURRY. arguably the best defensive player coming out of this draft class. shut the hell up.

@chadley6916 maybe because those pros are already ridiculously strong. also, yes it is unnecessary but wat r yu complaining about. its boys being boys.
TCraig00 1 year ago
Sounds like they could use some gym etiquette lessons. I would quit that gym if they allowed fools to be yelling like that. Not necessary at all.
chadley6916 1 year ago
@chadley6916 its a college weightroom with 18-23 year old men. they're gonna yell. im in high school and were louder than tht? why wouldnt you wan to yell its necesary yelling is proven to help release more power from muscles

GWhiz99 2 years ago
