  • I still have the Lp since 1986.. , yes the format is very original but.. the front cover is very funny is like a circus door, ..... great music cheers

  • Still own the gate-sleeve vinyl. I'm one of those rare old school thrashes who rates BTG over Seven Churches ...

  • @Goatilocks13 I also prefer BTG over 7 Churches! That guitar tone is to fuckin' DIE for!!!

  • cover art is dark, yet purple. Geiger, eat your fucking heart out

  • Awesome! has that old school sound, back when evrything was on cassette. I had a blank tape back in the day and on one side i recorded possessed- the heretic and venom- at war with satan on the other. I loved that fuckin tape!

  • great album , horrible art cover

  • Comment removed

  • I like the cover art.

  • @paola83213 Do you have the LP ?? You open the cover of the record on the middle down through the middle, then you open the upper side then the down side of the album, you remove the record & behind, there is a totally new cover.. Just for your information.. It was a cover lots of people talked about, at the time. It's impossible to imagine or describe. It has a size opened, like 10 cd's! Just the cover alone almost sold the record, but it was Possessed & I bought it on releaseday.

  • Definitely more thrash than anything else. Still exhilirating piece of noise, that you can rock to, f**ck to, etc

  • i understand that but isnt the harsh vocals what this album death metal?

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha<3<3

  • its still fuckin death metal

  • They only made 1 death Metal demo and one Death Metal album but after Seven Churches their style changed.

  • FALL INTO THE ABYSS OF HELL, ONLY THE WEAK WILL NOT REBEL!!!

  • AMERICA FUCK YEAH!!!

  • yes it is death metal, it's what it was called in 86 youngins not thrash

  • @deaththrasherlou1983 Well this album is more like Thrash metal, Seven churches was Death...

  • @MoonOvIce CORRECT

  • its death metal early death metal

  • CATERVA!

  • wasnt the intro for this used in one of the old terminator movies the 2nd one

  • the creators of Death Metal, \m/ (>_<) \m/

  • One of my first cassettes...i still remember intro/the heretic, wow,so romantic at the beginning but when the heretic starts,it's so danm fucking brutal.

  • pure fucking thrash!

  • my second favorite possessed release

  • I had this album on vinyl and when you opened up the record it turned into a poster of hell... FUCKING AMAZING!!!

  • @SuperJeffmetal yep sure does.still got it.

  • Beyond The Gates has my favorite hymns in this, "Beyond The Gates" and "March To Die". I am a wayward Catholic who returned to my orthodox faith but I still fucking rage to Possessed and all the good shit like Deicide or old Darkthrone and don't give a fuck! Whether they believed in it or not, these are perfect hymns to satan and hell that deserve respect; even from the pope himself. For what is sin but wholly unbridled human nature? In this case, violence and wrath. Satanic Thrash Metal FTW!

  • @LaceraBathori I am imagining the Pope headbanging to Deicide now, then jumping in a moshpit...You just made my day.

  • Alot of people call these guys a thrash metal band, while others call them the first death metal band. Halp?

  • @jk47hm4 You can say they're both. I would consider them more Death Metal than Thrash though. They still kick fucking ass though!!

  • @LordGanon69 I'm not even a thrash fan and I find these guys pretty catchy. good stuff for the early 80's... I always thought Death was the first death metal band though.

  • @jk47hm4 Hell yeah man. Possessed are fucking gods! But I would choose Death over Possessed any day!

  • @jk47hm4 well, early death metal like this was pretty similar compared to thrash. biggest difference was on vocals

  • I just added possessed to my myspace while nosebleeding. Im still nosebleeding! \m/_

  • I was listening to this album coming home from work today. loud with the windows down this one of the best album openings in metal i ever heard. POSSESSED!

  • I love both this and the seven churches. I don't care too much if it has any religious or sacrilegious theme to it whatsoever. I listen to metal for the metal. not to hear about religion

  • Yeah Intro would definitely be a good song to put before every gig

  • Excellent proto death metal!!! Love that riff when "The Heretic" kicks in!

  • I ordered this online Thursday at midnight

can't wait to get it in the mail! \m/

  • @InsaneJericho66 Thursday at midnight I was at an Iron Maiden concert! :D

  • I love both albums (S.C. and B.t.G.-T.E.o.H.).

S.C. has a little bit darker themes and tunes than the 2., i call it a raw death metal root.

The songs on the 2. are little more characteristic, but the sound isnt so smoky and raw.

Classic arch death metal. Not thrash.

    Üdv. Magyarországról!!!

  • Larry LaLonde is a badass.

  • I would classify this as Death/Thrash. The vocals are more grunted than thrash and the guitars are a bit darker than thrash bands. the drums sound very thrash tho.

  • aside from the production quality i think i may like this better than seven churches

  • @EpsilonX Seven Churches has noticeably worse quality than this...

Are you one of those trve fags?

  • @Veruon96 i think it's the other way around, seven churches sounds better. neither of them really sound that great though...

  • @Veruon96 dude really?? You're going to start with the name calling when someone has a differing opinion??? Who's the real trve fag here?

  • @Totemhorn C==3

  • @Veruon96 You are pretty disturbed...

  • I have the vinil, classic! If you doesn' t like Possessed you doesn't like Metal!

  • i wanna put the intro part on my ipod, get a band, and play it through the PA before every show.

  • Yeah its very very very tempting to get a job so i can buy this album and afford to see these guys at MDF

  • i wish possessed made more albums and didnt split (they came back together in 2005ish)

  • yeah with sadistic intent

  • why they can't make new album

  • i saw them last night they played this song it fucking ruled

  • sweet? it is sadistic intent right?

  • sadistic intent with jeff beccera on vocals

  • @xHeadbanger1000x well yeah

  • it was a great show

  • sorry this is death metal what it was called in 1986 before deicide and morbid angel

  • I ,love the guitar sound on this album.Lots of people hated this album when it came out.I loved it and still do.I rate it up there in the top 10 thrash albums of the 80's.

Just my opinion no need to shoot me for it.

  • Well, I'm an ignorant asshole. I need to first "thumbs down" your comment to feel high and mighty, then threaten you, then troll around, then go to your house and gut you....then thumbs down your comment again tomorrow.

  • fuck iwanted this album for over a year now

  • @thrashtildethxx Can't find it?

  • Love that intro! sounds so good!

  • So foolish is your excorsist. Don´t deny my heretic.

  • A classic Death/Thrash Metal song that never dies!!!

  • The prophecies that I will tell will make you sell your soul to hell!!!

  • had the gatefold vinyl edition of this back in my youth. great band.

  • CATERVA!

  • awesome album i stil have it....

  • I bought this Album when it first came out and still have it. Awesome Thrash

  • Fuck yeah!

  • Classic THRASH METAL

I prefer this album over the first one, I dont know why every one focuses on Seven Churches so much, this album kicks ass

  • @arise212

Amen to that, this probably, for me, is one of the best thrash metal lps ever.

  • @arise212 because death metal was still a new Genre ... the satanic theme was absent and THATS what put them on the map

  • @arise212 maybe about the production

i think it kills some brutality..the production of seven churches sounds more brutal in my opinion

  • @arise212

I agree this album is so much better. On of the best thrash albums ever.

  • @arise212

Most People prefer Seven Churches more due to the fact it had More of an anti-christian theme to it, but i definitely agree with you This album kicks total fucking ass \m/

  • @arise212 For some reason I prefer Seven Churches better.

  • @IKilledTheSunrise : I do too. Beyond the Gates is pretty good, but Seven Churches, in my opinion, is their heaviest, brutalest album!

  • @MetalAttack1986 IKR!!!! The Old-School sound makes Seven Churches sound so fucking badass to me The Exorcist and Death Metal are pure fucking Awesome.

  • @arise212 probably because seven churches has influenced so many bands

  • @arise212 oh fuck ya beyond the gates is waaaay heavier and i like the heavier side of thrash metal \m/

  • @brangdel You have to be kidding me. The reason why some ppl don't this album cause this is a softer shift from Death Metal to Thrash this almost rejects almost all its heavyness

  • @arise212 That's exactly what i'm sayin! Seven Churches was good but this is great! The song writing definitely improved for them. You can tell that they matured musically as time went on.

  • @arise212 Cause this album is not that great like the Seven Churches this is more softer with less emotion I hate to say but this is good too but Seven Churches Pwns this

  • @666deathghost How can you call this album soft? There's not a soft song on this album, aside from this keyboard intro, everything else is pure thrash. You actually think "March to Die" & "Tribulation" are soft? Are you crazy? My only real problem with Seven Churches is the production, the sound on this album is clearer and more powerful

  • @arise212 What you need a clearer sound for it ruins that Brutal and Raw atmosphere it gives to the album but I'm not saying that this album here is bad or anything dude I actually this song the most in this whole album thats why I'm here listening to it but this can't beat Seven Churches when it comes to the Raw and brutality.

  • brilliant song, a classic

  • CATERVA!

  • Possibly the greatest intro I've ever heard on any album.

  • I had this Record back in the 80s totally kicked ass

  • the best intro!!!!

  • Awesome. Great way to kick off a classic thrash album. Don't deny the power of the heretics known as Possessed.
