Hello can anyone tell how to do that. When I lift my handlebar it was looking so hevey I couldn't. Please help anyone. Should I change my sprocket or no Becauese they have 42 thoots.
hey im 14m I can katwalk easy as shit , but manualing is inpossible for me , I either lift to high and the bike kicks out from under me or i dont lift high enough , is there a easy way of finding ur center balance of gravity? cause once every like 7 trys i can get about a 10second manual then back to fails .. help lol
@MegaWhistleMan yeah. Just focus on shifting your weight back. You are not pulling the hadlebars with your hands. Instead you are shiting your body weight to the back wheel.
One of the best explanations on "how to manual". Pulling up too agressively or not keeping a low enough center of gravity, were much needed pointers. I'm an adult and always wondered why i would tip side to side, staight away.......thanks for posting.
to all trying, you have to be COMMITED. you cant say :i think ill be able to do it" you have to tell yourself you will and that will help, it helped me a lot, good luck everyone :)
@MegaWhistleMan Keep practicing, a lot of people have the problem of not being able to lift the bike high enough to start the manual. After a bit of practice, you'll be able to lift it up without even trying :)
i had that problem. try bouncing off your front forks, it springs you back. if that doesn't work you may want to consider buying lighter parts on the front end.
i tried a manual a couple of days ago just on impulse, didnt cover the brake and went straight off the back of my bike which hurt like a bitch. now im determined to learn, with the use of brakes too
I can fiinaly say: I finally found my balance point
its really a diffrent feeling, now i really like manuls but i still cant do that automaticly and not for to long but now they i founded my balance point i justneed to practice but i feel a big diffrent affter i watched this video, actually helped me tofind my balance point ! thanks !
@NIGGERREPPINDC its harder on a bmx cause its a faster reaction thingy... i dont know how to explain it but its faster, like try it on a monkey bike, it wont work, so i think its easiest on a dirt jumping/ mountain bike
i cant get the front wheel up high enough if my strong foot is right then should it be in front of the cranks or back near the back wheel ???? any suggestions or help for me?????
@247mountainbike this might just be for wheelies, but start slow and in a low gear. heve your stronger foot's pedal up and jut stomp it down and pull up at the same time and lean back. if you lean back too far though, the bike flips and lands on top of you, wich has happened to me only about a dozen times, and i'm sure it will still happen, even though i think i have it nailed..
I used to never b able to pull up enough but then i realized tht if u hav straight or legs with almost no bend in ur knees its easy bc ur pushing ur back tire forward
hi, i have a 13kg jump bike (so i know its not the weight) and im having a bit of trouble getting my front wheel high enough to balance. please help thanks
when i pull the bike up, it usually falls right down without me even starting to balance. if i pull it harder, it goes more back and i cant even control the balance anymore.
Equipment makes a world of difference. The chain stay length on the bike is very important as well. The bike in this video has a very short rear end which plants more of the rider weight back to start with. Long chain stays will make it hard if not imposible to do a manual. Cross country bikes are longer in the rear for climbing and do not do manuals worth a crap. A short reach stem will make a world of difference. A lighter tire up front will also make the front end come up easier.
Hello, I Have a UMF Hardy 4 (str. 16) , and i think i am for long for my bike. and i have put on more spaces and a new stem. but Now the bike is like a UMF with str 18... i want to do Manual, i can Wheelie and bunny. Help.
if got a giant brass 1 2009 and its been converted single gear, i cant wheelie, its to heavy to pull up. on my old bike i could on gear 2, speed 2 and could do it for really long. now i want to either wheelie or bunny hop.
you right when u said wear a helmet. i did, but i thought id be like you and not fasten the helmet. i fell off, and before i hit the ground, the helmet flew off. i suffered massive bleeding in my brain, and hope to come out of hospital before the end of the year. fingers crossed. after all the physiotherapy, i hope to have a go at manual riding again. thanks bud.....
@Ibrahem02102244806 it depends on how tall your are. If you are finding that you are constantly stretched forward, you'll have difficulty in pulling up.
I am 14 and i am trying to manual my Trek 4300D.. but i am not able to.. i can wheelie but not manual.. i dunno why, i think its because i am underweight.. i weigh 54Kgs (124lbs)... is that enough ?
@samanthms123 Weight wouldn't make a difference. It is more so your height. If the bike is too big for you, it will make it hard to pull up. If this is the case, i suggest that you get a shorter stem, if you already have a short stem then maybe get a smaller frame. Good luck!
@samanthms123 yeah and also trek 4300's a pretty cheap cross country bike that isn't designed for street elements like manualing i had the same problem when i had a trek 6300 cross country race bike, but then i bought a norco 250
@samanthms123 weight means nothing bud, you just gotta find ur balance point. a good way to practice is when ur in the motion of j-hopping dont pull ur back end up and try ridding like that. Try in a parking lot where there are the lines of the parking space and keep trying to get further and further. Do one space at a time, for example one space then two then three but never increase untill you can do the space before. reply to me on ur progress
@samanthms123 if i'm 180 and my friend is 80, i think you can pull a wheelie. it's practice and bike size. i find if the seat is adjusted medium, not low so you cant pedal and not high so you can't get any force, that's just right. need it low enough you can stomp the petal and the the front wheel off the ground without leaning, and high enough you have that force. then to help, pull up on the bars as you push down on the pedal. the bicke should come up and sit down again. then if your'e feeling
@samanthms123 confident, lean back. if you lean back too far, just drop your feet to the road, let the wheel come under your legs, and just squeeze the back brake. you won't be going fast enough to fall...
@samanthms123 im 14 weigh less than u its just practice i have friends stronger than me that cant manual or even pick there bike up high enough and i can manual on Almost any sized bikie
@247mountainbike try pulling back and down more. and if the doesn't work try compressing the front tire/shocks then pull back. I probobly shouldnt be speaking tho cause I can't get the manual down for my life :/ I can only wheelie
I could use some tips, when I try to manual I either pull to little, or i pull up and i have to use the break/fall down on my back. The last few days ive fell like 7-8 times. And I havent even practiced so much. However I cant seem to find the balance, my friend told me that I cant snap the bike up to manual with my knees(not pedaling, just snapping). Any tips? Ive done street for about 2 weeks now.
@charliep9806 You should be able to manual a street in about a week with a bit of practice everyday. After a month or two you will become smoother and use less rear brake and you should be able to manual for as long as your arms can hang on.
@getyourtech how heavy is your bike? Mine is about 30 pounds and i can get it up off the ground easily. Now, balancing and doing a manual is another thing, but i can still get it off the ground. If your bike is really heavy, get a new one to do manuals.
Excellent friend!!! Manual ain't nothing easy.. How's the process If I have a Full Suspension..?? To be accurate a Commencal Supreme DH..?? I used to think it was because I'm too small for the frame, but the frame is S and I should be able to get it up..
I've been practicing manuals on and off for the past 1-2 weeks on a fully-rigid MTB and it finally started to click about 5 days ago. My wheelies were decent before I started, so brake control hasn't been too tricky, but I wanna start working on "the pump". Can you explain how you're affecting the angle of the lean with your legs? I can catch the front when it starts to loop by using my brake, but I haven't been able to figure out how to bring it back up if I use too much...Thanks!
@DMCLN Ideally your bike is small enough such that you can really bend your knees back and get your butt back. If your front really dabbed too far down from the brake, then you're either going to finish your manual up or you can try a couple of crank pushes to try and wheelie your front into the mnual position. Otherwise, it's all just bending your knees and moving your butt (the pump isn't really a technique...it's just natural balance shifting)
I just went out and tried, and I seriously cannot pull the front end up into a manual without peddling. When I thrust my arms so that they pull the frame up, it pulls my body forward. So I end up just popping a short little wheelie, and can't get my body back into the position. When I'm looking at this video, you are way back further and your ass is closer to the tire. My arms are too short for me to get that position. Think my 19" frame is too big for me?
@Mirage416 Yeah it sounds like your frame is too long for you. I have the same problem when i ride a long frame too. This happens because if the frame is too long, your arms are pretty much locked straight when you go to pull up, it's as useful as nodding your head. If the frame is short, your arms are bent before you go to pull up and hence, you are able to get more weight transfer by shifting your hips, shoulders and back. Maybe have a go on a smaller frame from someone. Hope that makes sense
Yeah it makes total sense. Especially because I remember riding a BMX bike when I was younger and still this same size, and I had no problem flipping the bike without peddling. I'm going to get a smaller frame like you are riding, and I bet things will be a lot different.
@Mirage416 Hey buddy. I was wondering what brand your frame is and how tall you are? Unless you're riding a commuter/cross country bike, you shouldnt' have way too much trouble getting into a manual. If you are riding a dirt jumper/street bike at all....it's usually doable even if the bike is really long. If you want to start learning your manuals, try pulling as hard as you can and leaning back and TRYING to fall off the back of the bike. Jump off the back. Get on bike, repeat.
I can manual on smaller frames, just not on this. It's a Specialized Hardrock 26" MTB. My problem is that when my arms are fully extended, my ass is not back over the tire, but just barely off the seat. I really do need a smaller frame. If I bounce with all of my might, I can't seem to flip the bike. I'm just too small and only 150lbs.
is that a felt jumpshot in the background??

I could use some tips, when I try to manual I either pull to little, or i pull up and i have to use the break/fall down on my back. The last few days ive fell like 7-8 times. And I havent even practiced so much. However I cant seem to find the balance, my friend told me that I cant snap the bike up to manual with my knees(not pedaling, just snapping). Any tips? Ive done street for about 2 weeks now.

@247mountainbike Keep practicing, you're not pulling the front high enough yet.

how long did it take fore you to master it?.
charliep9806 1 year ago
@charliep9806 You should be able to manual a street in about a week with a bit of practice everyday. After a month or two you will become smoother and use less rear brake and you should be able to manual for as long as your arms can hang on.

my bike is to heavy to carry off the ground!!what shall i do
getyourtech 1 year ago

DMCLN 1 year ago
@DMCLN Ideally your bike is small enough such that you can really bend your knees back and get your butt back. If your front really dabbed too far down from the brake, then you're either going to finish your manual up or you can try a couple of crank pushes to try and wheelie your front into the mnual position. Otherwise, it's all just bending your knees and moving your butt (the pump isn't really a technique...it's just natural balance shifting)

OK, update!
Mirage416 1 year ago
@Mirage416 Yeah it sounds like your frame is too long for you. I have the same problem when i ride a long frame too. This happens because if the frame is too long, your arms are pretty much locked straight when you go to pull up, it's as useful as nodding your head. If the frame is short, your arms are bent before you go to pull up and hence, you are able to get more weight transfer by shifting your hips, shoulders and back. Maybe have a go on a smaller frame from someone. Hope that makes sense
wahlan 1 year ago
@wahlan
Yeah it makes total sense. Especially because I remember riding a BMX bike when I was younger and still this same size, and I had no problem flipping the bike without peddling. I'm going to get a smaller frame like you are riding, and I bet things will be a lot different.
Thanks a lot.
Mirage416 1 year ago
@Mirage416 Hey buddy. I was wondering what brand your frame is and how tall you are? Unless you're riding a commuter/cross country bike, you shouldnt' have way too much trouble getting into a manual. If you are riding a dirt jumper/street bike at all....it's usually doable even if the bike is really long. If you want to start learning your manuals, try pulling as hard as you can and leaning back and TRYING to fall off the back of the bike. Jump off the back. Get on bike, repeat.
bluewker 1 year ago
@bluewker
