  • Of course the reason TV did not fulfil its potential for communicating is simply because, unlike the Internet, TV was controlled and the information flows in one direction. There simply was no permitted revenue for alternative ideas often labelled RADICAL.But with Jesus we can all go up there withou having to lead an army and die fighting. That so Clingon like!

  • @listen2meokidoki um, so you are saying you believe Jesus exists?

  • @TheRealTruthSurge I muffed me words. Yes, I expect that on the balance of probabilities there was a person called Jesus. And yes, I do not believe in ressurection, and yes, he may have gone to India and fathered children. But the idea he died for our sins is absurd. If true, and he died for us so we can go to heaven, then I ask WHY? Sounds rather cowardly. Definitely not the Clingon way to die. They have a need to die a glorious death in battle. The only way we sinners can go to heaven is...

  • @TheRealTruthSurge Only way we sinners (we born with original sin) can end up in heaven is by dying soon after we ask god to forgive us all our sins. If we do not soon die, but live & sin again, how can God ignor the fact, as he can read our minds, that we sin yet again in reliance upon the assumption God will always forgive us? & we want to go to heaven all the more because we believe death isn't the absolute end & we are affraid of hell. So they pray in FEAR of god? I say to hell with god.

  • @listen2meokidoki Of course the really really scary part of any CHALLENGING of religion is the violent evil perpetrated by religous people. They have repeatedly & always unhesitaingly KILLED the enemy of their lord, their prophet, their god, their alah with the impunity that no rational person could justify. Syria is an example as we speak. The ruling religous group (15%) know the majority religous group must never gain power over them. As the Will of Alah is to kill all that defy our (his) Will.

  • In the beginning, or from my eal\rliest memories, which is the same thing as In The Beginning, I DOUBTED the story of Jesus rising into heaven for my sins. What sins, I asked myself. And what stops me sinning again? It was all very unsatisfactry, though I only felt unsatisfactory. I didn't have the word unsatisfactory in my mind. But I recall the feeling of dissatisfaction with what I was being told. Really, we had to wait 'till the Internet as I always found TV had so much unfulfilled potential

  • re: Enoch - Some Jewish literature claim he became Metatron (Yahweh's executive assistant)

  • @jcgadfly I wouldn't doubt it. fiction begets more fiction. :)

  • Interesting! It becomes a compliment to Mark's prowess as a writer that he ends the story at chapter 8 without explicit information, allowing people to fill in the blank using contemporary famous mythology. There was no need to point out the implied fate of Jesus, and this makes the ending much more elegant. It also speaks for the lack of such elegance from the later authors. It's not so much a cliff-hanger as it is a dynamite "you-know-what-THIS-means" ending.

  • So the lesson is - as long as you hide the body well enough the dead person has gone to heaven ;-)

  • @O2BSoLucky yup.

  • @TruthSurge Somebody let Dexter know :D

  • @COEXISTential me confused. :) who is dexter?

  • @TruthSurge TV program, main character is a serial killer of sorts - he works in forensics and often kills the antagonist in a revenge killing and dumps the bodies in deep water.

  • @COEXISTential ah. I don't watch TV. but i get it now. :)

  • How convenient that everybody of such importance, Always pulls a lockness monster, or Bigfoot, or all those missing ufo's, and why did jesus never leave behind any children from a woman he could have or should have had monkey buisness with????What its a Sin to have Babies?? How Strange!!

  • @karlbuttler the case of the missing Jebus. he's nowhere to be found in the 1st century.

  • where's part 11? i can't find part 11!

  • @PoFFizdaMan MUAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!

oh, um let me find it.... watch?v=-_5OA0YGvDE

  • thanx, enjoyed em and subbed 4 more

  • @ImAsMadAsHell thanks. I got a little sidetracked after part 10 but I hope to get on it soon.

  • Is part 12 coming soon? Thanks. This is an excellent series and very informative. :^)

  • @EdM021 you mean part 11? I'm working on it but just other stuff keeping me from it. Like sleeping to long and getting up late and surfing the web and important stuff like that. :) thanks, yeah, I hope I'll upload it SOON.

  • @TruthSurge Yes, I meant. Part 11. Thanks.

  • Got dat nicka on a carton 'a milk... Dam dats cold Toof, yoos roofless home-sliver

  • Backdoor Moonpie.

  • are there gonna be anymore videos to this series Truth? thanks

  • @MrPacnman tons more. I'm just very busy with some voice over projects right now that are paying $.

  • Herrrreeess Jebus!

  • Comment removed

  • Another Great one TS! Can I ask something until I read the books that inspire the videos? Don;t answer if it spoils an upcoming episode. So, do they say anything about the intentions of Mark himself? Was it fiction? Was it intentional myth/cultmaking? His version seems to stand out of the canonical crowd as a fiction work.

  • @ONESPECIES well, sure. I say it's deliberate fiction and Randel Helms says so and Robert M. Price says so and I'm sure Ehrman would say so in those words except guys like him and MacDonald are still earning a HEFTY living by not really coming out as atheists. MacDonald still works at a religious university so it behooves him to tone down the "atheist" part and he told me on the phone he was some type of humanist with Christian leanings. thanks

  • By the way, I have to say that this brilliant series of yours should be curriculum in high schools, or at least shown in many high schools, or even earlier. KIds in America need to learn some facts regarding christianity instead of all the idiotic myths, legends and lies:) )

  • This some good stuff! Thank you. looking forward to more

  • @MrPacnman thanks!

  • Did Redneck Ronnie help you with your research?

  • @2eelShmeal No, he isn't quite larned enough and he's too noisy. I can't think while he's always talking and bringing up this unrelated point and that. His train of thought derailed long ago. HEHE

  • Cracking series

  • @memrjohnno thank ye

  • I love this stuff, all things fall into place now, this series is a real joy to behold :D

  • @eat666shit thank ya. Yeah, when a theory answers more questions than any other one, you know it's the one to go with! hahah it may still have some missing pieces but 5 pieces missing is better than 10 missing.

  • The bible is sounding more like a derivative zombie movie, a Frankenstein's monster of bits and pieces of other myths crudely stitched together. I wonder how many of the people at the time the bible was deemed to be the direct word of god knew it was a contrived monster mash-up of other stories? Did they take it metaphorically at first then later became more literal and dogmatic about it?

  • @astrophonix Well, we know that some people did notice the pagan and Greek/Roman parallels and Justin Martyr (around mid 2nd century) even admitted this. So, back THEN, I'm sure lots of people knew of this and in fact, that's probably why it was taking hold among the GENTILE people who already believed similar things about their own gods. The Jews for the most part weren't buying it.

Philo did try to interpret the OT allegorically, trying to marry Jewish belief with Greek philosophy.

  • @astrophonix With a life-span of 35 like those poor very early christians had, you bet the religion could change quickly as people died off from the measles or infected scratches or salmonella/worms. With everybody dying so young, of course new twists and ideas could be added much more quickly than today, and with such poor transport and communications they had, isolated groups would create cults, sects, versions of their own very frequently too.The dogmas/standards came after Nicea in 320,no?:)

  • Jude 1:9 - "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee."

The NT authors add and take away things in the Hebrew scriptures. A contradiction in the same passage is found in Hebrews 11, where it claims Enoch through "faith" did not see death. Yet in verse 13, it says ALL these listed people died in faith. Faith? They supposedly KNEW god :)

  • @TempleOfInanna2 yep, it does seem like a contradiction there. The authors of polemics and apologetics and such often forget those little details in the heat of their writing passion and apparently quality assurance wasn't at the forefront of their endeavors. hehehe

  • @TruthSurge I thought the "faith" part was especially interesting in trying to ascribe it to OT characters, considering it lists Abraham and Moses. The OT says that these guys knew god face to face. There's no faith there, they are actually seeing the deity firsthand and hearing his voice boom out of the heavens. And it says Sarah conceieved by faith, yet when she heard the news in the OT, she laughed at the prospect of pregancy, which would be skepticism. The scriptures are distorted to the max

  • @TempleOfInanna2 yep. Not much faith needed when god does a miracle every other page. :)

  • 1:59 yes!!!!

  • @Prplfox ya like that one, eh? hehe

  • Just so I understand, is Josephus saying Moses disappeared into the valley of the cloud or a valley of the mountain?

Great stuff, as always :) .

  • @Jaybird196 I think they were in a valley when he was taken up into a cloud or at least vanished with this cloud hovering over him. thank ya!

  • This is an excellent video! Thanks for all the time you have taken to put this series together - greatly appreciated.

  • @BobbieJamesTuOl thanks. i like sharing the findings I have.. uh, found? hehehehehe some is a tad more speculative but some of it is preeeetty hard to dismiss. thank ye

  • A skeptic like you or I will call examples of ascension in the OT used by mark in his Gospel pastiche or homage. Believers will call it prophesy. Ya just can't win.

  • @gamutman i know. :( heheh

  • Moses represented the Law and Elijah the Prophets. That's why it was those 2 only.

  • @hadzhere Why did you set your channel to unavailable?

  • @TruthSurge Didn't even know you could. Could you send me a PM please and tell me what setting that is so I can change it?

  • @hadzhere I have no idea. I've never tried or had a desire to do that. I know that many people do it to help them troll YT w/o people knowing how to block them. No idea how to set it or undo it. sorry! Just wondering why yours was like that.

  • @TruthSurge Fixed it. I remember doing it now. Got a bunch of rude comments from rabid Christians after making some comments on one of "their" videos so I switched to invisible. Back to normal now. Not a troll :D

  • @hadzhere So that doesn't mess up your settings or anything?

  • @TruthSurge Nope, all it does is set your channel to invisible, everything else is the same. It's no good for someone with videos, but I'm not a video-maker so I didn't even notice the difference, which is why I forgot I'd done it. I had to google it to even see which setting made it show up as unavailable...haha.

  • I love that pile of books stacked high, .. "The compendium of missing dead heroes"

Your productions are 1st class Truthsurge.

  • @bonnie43uk thank ya

  • poof there goes another saint! Great vid,

  • @rollofnickles thanks!

  • We call it antecedents, Christians call it...foreshadowing *eerie music*

  • @wimsweden -insert dramatic chipmunk here - hehehehe yep. I call it midrash and fiction writing. they call it prophecy fulfillment.

  • Jimmy Hoffa seems to have been translated into heaven as well. ;-)

  • @FelidaTheG33k why not? :)

  • @TruthSurge Indeed, why not. Seems like with the overall company there he won't fit in badly. ;-)

  • @FelidaTheG33k he killed less people than god did. :0

  • @TruthSurge Hmm, true enough. Makes you wonder if there is a certain amount of people you have to kill in your lifetime to get to join god in heaven. Is there a quota, you think? ;-)

  • @FelidaTheG33k No idea. Based on my understanding of the Bible, though, I'd say there is and there isn't. HEHEHHEHEHE god works in those mysterious ways

  • Superb addition to one of the best series I've ever seen on Youtube.

  • @ozmoroid thank ya! The next couple vids (however many) will basically just show that most of the things we associate with events in Jesus' life really were just created from OT verses/stories. more fiction under the microscope.

  • great vid, i look forward to part 11

  • @Moontanman thanks

  • looking forward to see part 11

  • @emancoy thanks!

  • Thanks for the new ep. TS! Great presentation of this content, I love the series!

  • @Iravincius thank ya

  • Yeayyyy - new episode again! Woohoo! Thank you so much!

  • @XheraPhine thank yeeeeeeeeeee.

  • Nice work.

How many parts do you expect to have in this series?

  • @xorthan I shudder to think of it. HEHE MANY parts.... I'd wager about 30. well, 25. somewhere in there. I still have to actually look at some stuff more directly related to the resurrection. thanks!

  • They speak of "strong" or "militant" atheists. I never considered myself one of these, mostly, b/c I will NOT debate believers on the rationality of faith & "sacred' text. Well, as a result of your series, I've learned enough 2 feel stronger about my own voice & my right to contest superstition. So, it's yer fault I'm starting 2 challenge folk on their assertions re; the "historical accuracy" of the wholly babble. Thanks! Sincerely appreciated here.

  • @rriverstone1 yep. If they want to claim pure faith, that's fine. If they want to say the gospels are historically and internally reliable, they couldn't be farther from the truth. etc. That's why WLC's points are so nauseating. thanks! don't let them upset you! hahaha sometimes you will think you're talking to a wall.

  • I love the music, by the way - I hadn't realised it was your own!

    Great content, as ever:-)

I don't suppose you do Rush, 2112, do you??

  • @calmreason I never really learned much off that album. A few bits and pieces. I was TOTALLY into Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves. that whole era. I learned Red Barchetta and Tom Sawyer and Limelight and Free Will and prob a few more.

  • @calmreason oh, La Villa Strangiato. learned that one. uh, hemispheres song... what the hell was it????? AHHHHHHHH Circumstances. I liked that one. and that one... starts w/ride cymbal in like 5/4 time.... just instrumental. i forget the title.

  • @TruthSurge I believe you're thinking of YYZ. The 5/4 timing (-.-- -.-- --..) is morse code for YYZ.

This is quite an excellent series of videos. You present it very well.

  • @CyberViking27 yeah, I just drew a blank. thank ya

  • @TruthSurge you're thinking of YYZ.

The band I was in back in the 80's that's pretty much all we did was Rush.

Camera Eye, Vital Signs and Witch Hunt were my favorite to do, I liked the "reversing reggae" guitar in Vital Signs, we also did Subdivisions, New World Man, Analog Kid, Between the Wheels, Witch Hunt, and Digital Man etc etc etc

  • @SpocksToupee yeah, I was drawing a total blank at the time. I do like those you listed too but the later stuff... I kind of just stopped with the listening. Yeah, Vital Signs chink chink chinchink chink chink chinchink (reggae at first, straight next hahaha). Subdivisions... that one's cool. I wish Geddy could still sing songs like didn't listen again off 2112. I don't think many bands would try THAT as a cover. Those vocals are crazy.

  • @TruthSurge Yea, they were way too high, we'd practice and play the entire 2112 album, but only instrumentally, we'd only play the Overture to 2112 out in public

  • @calmreason oh, thanks on the music. hehe yeah, I decided for this series to just roll my own and quit trying to find music I liked here and there. screw it. I can write all my own music and be happier anyway. :)

  • Always the same BS, eh? "Surely he can't have fallen in the thick of the battle and mutilated beyond recognition, so he must have been whizzed up into heaven." LOL

  • @rozeboosje maybe it was the 6th day of the 6th month at 6 am? well, July is the 7th month. dang it....

  • And when it comes to mortals being diefied the most famous Caesar himself becoming Divus Iulius, that also being the reason why Quintilis became July.

  • @TheyCallMeGawd makes sense. Juli Julius. Things get renames and reclaimed by people and religions a lot in antiquity. Constantine did that also when trying to establish some credence for it.

  • With the wind storm blowing all around over here, I was hoping my power didn't got out before getting to watch the entire video! Need I say more?

  • @SuperSoylent2 No, you needn't! But uh, buy a backup battery. HEHEHEH I have to have one cuz the power company has magical blips of sudden no power. wha? so, each time my battery kicks in I smile and kind of flip a virtual bird to the power company. :)

man, I'm still debating what song to do.

  • @TruthSurge I suppose I could grab my laptop and find an internet cafe somewhere. Say - why don't you do that old Turtles song "Eleanor" but rewrite the lyrics for comet "Elenin" instead.

  • @SuperSoylent2 I think i need to just do something QUICKLY. hahahah so many other things I want to get on. no, not drugs, dummy. HEHEHE i'll think of something. maybe an impossible vocal like Queen's The Show Must Go On. HAHAHAHHA

  • The phrase "lost in translation" will never quite be the same for me again, lol.

  • @markdzima When anyone questions you on the Bible, just yell at them "It's a translation thang, baby!" hehehe

  • great work, a great series, you rock :)

  • @roblesterfilms thank ya!

  • Great work, am loving this series :)

  • @nuckable thank ye. This one wasn't so slam dunk but I think it is certainly worth a look because it seems to make some sense IF Mark was creating the resurrection data from scratch or embellishing an existing source that we do not have.
