  • how dare anyone talk shit about Eddie, he's an amazing drummer and an amazing human being, he is easily the equivalent of Steve Gadd in Nashville and there is a reason why everyone asks him to play on their records

BTW, I love the way he plays shuffles, such a great feel

  • good time

  • What I hear here is a very loose, mature, greasy feel on the drums. Believe it or not, many great drummers couldn't hang with this type of feel.

  • Eddie the great....!! if by the end of my career i manage to have 1% of Eddies resume i´d consider myself very lucky... what a talent!!!

  • Leland Sklar

If there was ever a musician who deserved being in the Hall of Fame, it is Ed! One of the greatest drummers I have had the joy of playing with.

  • your exactly right about fact. Unless there is a majority, then it's an opinion that we all have a right too. That comes from a small world. My world is big, with some of the greatest artists and musicians I still work with. Leland Sklar would love to have words with Steviedeedee, as would David Hungate and my late friend Steven Bruton. But I doubt he knows these people, and if he does, then bring up his thoughts to them and see the response he gets. You can't change what has been proven.

  • here's a fact that I do know. I was with Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Rodney Crowell and David Hungate Saturday and Yesterday. I will comment on steviedeedee's saying to anyone "do you know what the studio scene is here" Yes, we and one's mentioned know exactly what it is here. Anytime you want to know, let us know and don't judge anyone for one effort. Take in the whole with who one is. When I was inducted into the hall of fame, they all came out of love and respect and friendship.

  • It's such a shame that people feel the need to be negative, if I had done this... if I had done that... what does it matter..? You didn't, Eddie did. Sounds like regret and jealousy to me. I've not played with Eddie before, but I've played with some great great drummers, and some horrible one so I can spot a good one when I see one. Eddie is solid, Eddie is musical - what more could you want..? I'd hire him in a heatbeat.

  • thank you, you are so right. anyone that thinks they have the expertise to critique music or anyone is only baring ignorance. In the case of this steviedeedee, what does he base his critique on other than his own. Obviously, such is the case with Taylor Swift, there are more than 4 million that disagree with him, but then inflated egos could care less. We should all appreciate why any effort in music becomes successful, No, I wouldn't buy one of her records, but I don't deny her talent.

  • also, stevie should watch the players live with peter frampton and bob mayo, but of course, I'm sure they're robotic and souless to him as well, yes I forgot he's an expert in this

  • not to worry Lane, he's a small man and the more he says the more he reveals, he's a negative human, and he is the one with no soul

    Tommy

  • woa...didn't know what all the squawk was about, but I have to say, not a very flattering video....we were recording a song, but then there's no music. Wish you could hear the music...sort a like soloing a vocal and listening to the uh'ss and grunts and breaths you know? Oh well, it is what it is and everyone just calm down on the chatter....all is well.

  • we'll just keep posting till the knuckleheads are at the bottom where they belong

  • right with you players......I guess those who speak negatively should think about what they haven't accomplished. Maybe if they need contact to achieve something in music, they should contact all of you and Mark Knopfler, Bob Seger, Peter Frampton, Taylor Swift, Vince Gill. I'm sure all of you would be happy to advise them.

  • what do you know about the studio scene? I'm not here to fight either, but just curious...do you live in Nashville? do you follow Eddie and the others around in the Studio EVERY day to know what the studio scene is like now? I would suggest that first before you speak.

i know way more than you are aware of or assume!

  • Stevie, sorry for the retort here, in any thread it happens when we voice ourselves. You are right in a lot of respects, although we're subject to the camps we work with. These producer/engineers have liberty and when you leave they have staff that audio quantizes everything. Nothing we can do, being we do have a living here and have family's to support, so be it. Every once in a while for me, Mark Knopfler's Golden Heart Stevie Nicks and I have alanis morissette the rest I term business music

  • this doesn't represent Eddie being there is no music to hear what he's playing too. If any of you had been hired to play the song he's playing, I like to hear what you would be doing. As far as click, I'd also like to see which one of you could go into a major session and tell the producer/engineer that you didn't want to use a click. Trust me, you wouldn't win in today's world of protools and virtual recording.

type in The Players Live with Peter Framton,Shawn Colvin with no click

  • poop

  • talk about poop, have you listened to your playing? sounds like the best of shreds

listen to eddie with The Players live with Peter Frampton before you comment on him again

  • you must be a retard ive never downloaded a video besides its my opinion

  • download? I didn't say download, I said listen to eddie

    youtube,

The Players Live with Peter Frampton, and try to refrain from retard comments

  • I hate when someone puts down our handicapped, although it does reveal a lot about the source. Try not to do that.

    Tommy

  • This aint Eddie Bayers...Not sure who he is but more importantly, why did he bother putting this nonsense on you tube?? He certainly cant play drums worth spit...of course, maybe that was his point.

  • Eddie is much more than a "drummer." Bayers is known by one of the longest running discographies in drumming history. And Mr. tdk72... when you listen to his body of work, you might begin to get it. Great drumming is actually about great musicianship. Much like airline pilots, our expertise is not needed 95% of the time. The 5% is for clinics and pointless bs where we're there to sell product. The 95% is about making real music, in a take or two, when the recording light is on.

  • great drummer

  • This guy is average at best..... this guy makes me think I should have continued pursuing my career as a drummer because I am just as good as he is...... and I thought I wasn't good enough and hung up my sticks out of school. Looks to me like I might have been wrong.

  • you should talk to, Mark Knopfler, Bob Seger, John Forgerty, Bob Seger...... Of course, you probably think they're average as well. .the video shows Eddie playing on a song, which you don't hear, what he was hired to play.

type in The Players Live with Peter Frampton or Shawn Colvin,

basically, your the average one here. The reason you didn't pursue drumming, is because you couldn't

  • Eddie has a unique hi-hat pattern, one that I have spent all my career trying to master. A good example of it is George Straits "round about way" Only great players would know the different between straight 8th notes, and the pattern that Eddie is playing

  • To not understand Eddies playing is to not understand drumming. Eddie is not going to blow you away with solos & he is stiff just messing around but listen to him sitting in with the country guys or on a country album. Drumming is about putting the best beat in the song & holding it there.Did anyone out there know that Eddie once toured with Peter Frampton?

  • I absolutely love Eddie Bayers!

Like literally... he is a family friend and incredibly sweet to my little sister! (( :

  • If Eddie is a has been then why did I see him about a month ago playing on the tribute for George Strait, as they honered him for artist of the decade. Seems to me for an event like that they would have hired one of the better players that you are reffering too. Look up his discography on the web, its pretty impressive. I'd say somebody likes his playing abilities.

  • he would tell me that eddie would hardly (if ever) use a metronome ...HE is a metronome !

  • he's got a click with him ALL THE TIME!!!

he couldn't swing if you hung him...

  • You realize you are criticizing one of the best studio session players ever, this guy is the guy that all the big names in country music use to replace there professional road drummers in the studio.

  • Your key words are, "use to". The Nashville studio scene use to be so close minded. It's not like that so much anymore. Sorry, Eddie is a very stiff player. In the 80's most of the road drummers were pals. Not full time players. I know plenty, I mean plenty of folks who cringe at poor Eddie's name. He's existing now on what he once did. I'm not here to fight with you. It's a fact.

  • you need to learn how to read english. His comment says he is a drummer they USE TO replace road drummers, not USED TO replace.

  • @steviedeedee

The plenty of folks who cringe at poor eddies name are the guys that cant hold a tempo. Stiff? Oh, you mean "spot on time"...yeah, that would get in the way of a lot of below average players..in fact, it might get in the way of a lot of average players. To the real Pro's...that kind of Stiff that Eddie Bayers brings to the studio or live performance is EXACTLY what they want...

  • @steviedeedee no...it's an opinion pushed as fact. if it were a fact..a lot more people would be agreeing with you. THAT is a fact.

  • rock solid!

  • feel free to hire me next time!! i have alot to offer in the studio, and live!

  • Eddie sounds good on the country records, but seems a little stiff sometimes. I'd like to hear him really let loose.

  • my dad used to do session work with Eddie back when dad worked for Ricky Skaggs. he would tell me that eddie would hardly (if ever) use a metronome

  • Eddie Bayers is one of my favorite drummers of all time!

  • What a great drummer. It was a golden experience to spend a day in the studio with Eddie.
