My Simmons 3-9x32 22 Mag scope is a good match for the Marlin model 60. As to working on a "regular 22", you will probably just have to buy it and see if it works for you. You might run into issues with having a different size rail that the rings won't fit. Check the return policy before you buy, however.
But new Marlin 60 is SHORT barrel !!! only 19" vs Marlin 60SB I buy 5 years ago!! I hate Ruget because the barrel only 18".....NOW MARLIN tried to cut short!! If shorter than 20 inches I will buy European gun! CZ maybe!
The model 60 with the blued barrel can be found new for about $130. The stainless version, like mine, will cost about $190 new. You don't have to worry about the barrel ever rusting with the stainless. I really like my model 60, it is fun and economical to shoot. I have been happy with the scope too, it is a simmons I bought new for around $30.
If that is the model with a detachable mag, like the ruger 10/22, Obama and crew have that on the new permanent ban of "assault rifles" Google: proposed ban list. Support the NRA-ILA and write your reps. Any gun control is just another step towards their goal of completely disarming US. Check it out if in doubt.
This rifle does not have a magazine, it has a tube under the barrel that holds 14 rounds. Personally I like the tube and can load it as fast as I can load a regular 22 magazine (example: Ruger 10-22).
I am not sure if the model 60 is on the Democrats hit list, but even if it is- they will not be getting this one!
Yes, It sure is a tube mag, more or less like a shotgun.
The more recent ones are 14 as you say, i have one from my grandpa he bought back in the 60's that has an 18 round capacity, Amazing rile, I love Mine!
i just got one of those guns off a friend for about 40 bucks and i had a crosman 4x15 scope laying around. makes a pretty accurate plinker at 150ish yards
What model of scope you using? Was looking at one for my Model 60 but keep finding scopes that are too big or they wont fit on the factory scope groove above the barrel breech.
The scope is a Simmons 3-9x32 22 Mag, bought at Dicks sporting goods. I had no problem installing and sighting it in. Good scope for the money, I paid around 30 bucks for it last year.
I found a few that are simmilar to yours as far as magnification goes but the only Simmons I found locally is a 8 Point scope 3-9X40 for $50. Was really looking for a scope around $20 - $30 but I guess when it comes to a scope you cant ask for alot of features for a cheap price.
hey i have a tasco woodland 3-9x32 scope also. I have some questions, what range did you site yours in at? Also, the knob that goes from 3-9 and zooms it in and out, do you know if it changes the yardages that its accurate at or just zooms in. ex set at 3 accurate at 30 yards, set at 7 accurate at 70 yards? or does it not work like that, thanks let me know how you sighted yours.
It sounds like you had the same problems with Federal and Winchester that I had. I don't even like the looks of the Winchester, they look like they have wax on them or something. Find an ammo. that you like and stick with it. Different ammo. will also affect the way your rifle is sighted in.
I have been very happy with mine. It seldom ever jams, and the tube feed holds 14 rounds and is easy to load. This rifle is very accurate and smooth shooting. It is the second most popular 22 rifle next to the Ruger 10-22.
I mostly use federal champion in the 5o round blue box. It shoots great with no jamming. The regular Federal in the 550 round box tends to jam and many are duds.
I like your gun ;-)

Sounds like one of those toy lasers when you start shooting a bit more rapid. I can't wait to get my Marlin Model 60 Laser :)

Did you have to tighten your front stock screw because it would come loose? I did after every tube-full of ammo.
TargetGuy2245 2 years ago
I have not had a problem with that screw or any other screw loosening up. You might try using Loctite thread lock in the red bottle.

Mine is new, although it says it can hold only 14, you can chamber a round and it can hold up to 16.
