  • Will it work if the connection of the internet is in another house more then 53 feet away

  • I need an ethernet connection upstairs and my modem is in the basement. Its for a dvr unit. I also have wifi. Im confused, does this product actually allow you to plug it into the wall and achieve a similar connection? Thank you

  • have you had radio reception problems with this?

  • Is this good enough for an internet radio receiver? and do have to plug the 2 Powerwires on the same floor?

  • @GDelva2003,

The throughput is high enough for any Internet Radio reciever. The weak point will not be the bridge, but the speed of your ISP. The 2 endpoints of the bridge must be on the same circuit. That's not necessarily the same floor.

  • i dont have good signal ine my room so i will need that to have better signal right ? answer PLZ!

  • @GeoBasket01,

This isn't a wireless device. This is an Ethernet bridge. Simply put, it allows you to plug an Ethernet cable into one end and take it out the other, with your home/office wiring connecting the two ends.

  • @gadgettts Ok Thanks you

  • May I download on Corinex GameNet, without it slowing down?

  • @MrZdude19,

Download speed wouldn't depend on the Corinex bridge, but on the speed of your ISP.

  • is 100mb enough to stream blu-ray back-ups? (.MKV)

  • @basmagic,

Can you do it? Yes. will it be trouble-free? No.

    .

The Blu Ray spec allows content to be encoded at up to 50Mb/s. While that fits nicely under the maximum theoretical bandwidth of the Corinex bridge, remember that there will be several things that eats into that pipe. (noise, retransmissions, communications overhead, etc.)

If it's JUST the Blu Ray stream you could probably get away with it, but if you intend to do anything WHILE watching, I wouldn't do it.

  • its not Megabits its MegaBytes

  • @halo3recon343,

Actually, it's Megabits. There are 8 bits in a byte. All networking equipment is rated in bits (kilobits, megabits, gigabits) while storage technologies tend to be rated in megabytes.

    .

The easy way to tell is to look at how they write the "b" in the rating. 'MB' is Megabyte, while 'Mb' is Megabit. The same goes for Gigabyte/Gigabit ('GB' vs 'Gb')

  • coolio i might get one for my 360, i think my wireless adapter is going

  • @PsalmsOfPlanets072 hey i just ordered them are they good for xbox live

  • plz help me guys im wondering if this device will work if i plugged it into a surge protecter coz i read some blogs saying its not working unless you plugged it into a a wall plz help

  • @JokerMgo,

It will not work if the adapters are electronically separated by a surge protector, power strip, line conditioner or circuit breaker.

  • @gadgettts so it has to be connected right to the wall ? but i saw vids of them connected to surge protecters im not sure if im going to buy it if its not working on surges . And the shop owner told me it will work on it 100% plz man can you check? thanks

  • @JokerMgo,

Yes... must be connected to the wall.

  • This is probably a stupid question, but if I have one adapter at the source of my internet (for my case, the router's ethernet port) and I have 2 adapters plugged into 2 different rooms, do I need to have 2 adapters at the source or does it work correctly with only one at the source?

  • This is probably a stupid question, but if I have one adapter at the source of my internet (for my case, the router's ethernet port) and I have 2 adapters plugged into 2 different rooms, do I need to have 2 adapters at the source or does it work correctly with only one at the source?

  • @ryuchao009,

    That will work just fine.

  • ok, i found it on ur website.. now.. i am going to look for it..

  • what program you used to test speed, pls can you tell me.. i need test powerline for my coledge.. i use d-link pk 303, ty

  • It shouldn't come to any surprise that with both adapters in the same circuit and nothing blocking the connection in between the adapters run at maximum performance. But since nobody would buy PowerLine if there was a simple way to run a network cable, conditions will vary. Even with those 200 MBit/s adapters you can easily end up having real link speeds of 30 MBit/s or less in houses that aren't wired up perfectly. Advice: make sure you can return them to your dealer if you aren't satisfied.

  • Great video man, just wondering how I would know if I had 802.11 a in my computer? My comp came with a wireless card but thats about all i know. thx!

  • @smclean2004,

If you computer is less than 2 years old, then most likely it will have a combo 802.11a/b/g 2.4/5Ghz radio set. If you are using Windows, you can go into the wireless adapter settings and actually see if you have 802.11a capability.

  • Where can I buy a PAIR of these? like the GameNet 2.0-Dual Pack?

  • Would one work for a xbox 360 linked to a router?

  • @xapoc,

As long as you have the two units on the same power circuit, it will work just fine..

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Can you plug BOTH adapters on one power strip?

    Keep up the good work!

  • @5130x,

Yes. -- and thanks for watching!

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • first this is a great vid

Can you plug it in to a power strip??

Also does it work on the fat PS2?

    please reply

  • Darthbob77,

They will not work unless they are part of the same electrical circuit. Putting one on a power strip will create a different circuit. -- It will work with any device that needs ethernet.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • ok. what if its a diff circuit????

  • mattot247,

If it's a different circuit, it will not work. There HAS to be some kind of connection between the two units. If you're on a different circuit (or if you have a power strip / surge-protector / line-conditioner in the middle, then it simply will not work.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • Thank you so much i just orderd it today!!!

    Peace

  • How do i know were the path is. AND.... so,.. i can't plug in anything between them

  • loch2hot,

The easiest way to do it is to plug in the two modules and see if they link. Barring that, plug a light into each outlet, then flip the breaker for one. If the other light goes off as well... they're the same circuit.

You can plug other appliances into that circuit, you just can't put anything between a module and the outlet. (i.e. surge protector, power meter, etc.)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • So basically this is what I understand:

I connect an ethernet cable from my wireless router to one the power line adaptor and plug this adapter into the mains supply of my house.

The my brother can connect his PC to the internet via ethernet cable by plugging his adapter to the powerline right?

So similarly my neighbour can also share our internet? What are the boundaries of this type of

connection? How can it be controlled?

    Isnt it a security threat?

  • nitro2u2,

Yes... as long as you are on the same circuit.

You neighbor cannot share your signal because it would be stopped at your main panel.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • where can i buy this

  • I have 2 Questions: 1) Could you still use this in your house if you dont have a Modem or Router in your home..... 2) i have a car adapter which basically supports a Wall-like out let so i connect stuff to it when im in a car like when im in my home...but would connecting this ethernet adapter get internet when its hooked into my car adapter? Please answer im dying to know.

  • GamingViews01,

    1. If you don't have a modem or router, this could still connect multiple computers, but they wouldn't have access to the Internet.

    2. No.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • you should really deinterlace your videos lol. But this thing is cool.

  • MobiousBlack,

It's part of the learning curve, but thanks for noticing! :)

  • it better than wireless adapter

  • very good buot is it work in my country?

  • You sayed that it claimed 200mbps per seconed how many mbps then if not 200

  • ragingalcoholic6,

From the review: "The throughput numbers were amazing. IxChariot pegged the GameNet at a maximum of 141 Mbps. With the typical overhead of an Ethernet network, this is amazingly close to the 200Mbps theoretical limit of the AV200 adapters. "

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • is there a gadget out there that has 2 ethernet cables inputs?

  • I'm sure there are... but you don't really need a specialized product if you want to connect more than one device through the bridge. You can simply put a cheap switch at each end and plug in as many devices as you want. The bridge simply replaces the cable between the two.

One caveat -- ALL of your traffic will be going through the bridge, that means you are sharing bandwidth between all computer connected through it.

  • جيد جدا شكرا لكم

  • How much is it? and can i buy it in canada?

  • buy it off ebay retail is 169.99 and yes.

  • you talk alot .. keep it short

  • o.k.

  • it's helpful though

  • I have a question. I live in a duplex. The guy on the other side has cable internet and I was going to split the cost with him as long as I could use the wireless. If each side is on a different circuit breaker, and I plug one on his side into his router, and one a wall length apart on my side into my 360, will be on different breakers have a poor effect?

  • excellent review,

  • there is a petion to number 10 downing st in the uk with 3500 signatures to have these devices BANNED due to the interference they cause to the radio spectrum efectively they use the unsuitable power lines to transmit ethernet signals..power cables are unscreened and effectively the copper cables in your house turn into a giant transmitting antenna that interferes with radio reception for hundreds of feet from the source

  • Sounds like there is something between the two units.

Make sure that neither device is plugged into a surge protector or power strip.

  • no they both go directly into the wall and the xbox is literally 15 feet away

  • how long of a cord can you hook up the powerline adapter to before you notice a quality difference? i want to see if i can get internet to my neighbors house.

  • well with an ethernet cord you wanna stay under 300 ft, so just add the distance in the wall and the length of the ethernet cord and make sure it's under 300 ft

  • the connection drops at 200 ft.

  • so can I have an electronic device plugged into a socket were the path between the two units is?

ps. the vid was real helpful

  • i have these and im having a problem getting them to work, I plugged one into my router and then directly into the wall. Then i plugged another one one room over into my xbox 360 and then directly into the wall.

The one near my router has all three lights on while the one connected to my xbox has only the top and bottom lights on and i get no connectivity.

    any suggestions?

  • your more then 300 feet away then

  • i just bought something similiar to this by netgear its model is XAVB101 and i set it up and everything and my connection to x box live was worse than just having an ethernet cord running from my 2wire modem to my 360 so i was just wondering what speed i will get with this

  • Auroshei,

Unfortunately the performance is VERY subjective. It depends on the wiring of your house, how noisy your appliances are, etc.

  • well my internet speed is 6 mbps right now so saying my house wiring is good can this make my x box live connection better, like with less lag

  • Auroshei,

Offhand I would have to say no. It sounds like the problem isn't your LAN, but with the lag time between your router and the Live! servers.

Here's an easy way to check. Hook up a laptop to the ethernet cable that is currently connected to your XBOX then ping your router. If you're getting 1-15ms ping times, then it's not your LAN. If it's 50ms or above, then you MIGHT be able to improve it with better gear.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • well i dont really have lag i just want a faster connection

  • ok, so, I have a fairly large house. 5 stories to be exact, but its designed weirdly so its all close together. My internet router is on the third level, and my xbox 360 is located on the bottom level. If i use just two of these power connectors, will it be as strong as the ones in the video?

  • Derrrsh123,

There's no way to be absolutely sure since each home will have a different electrical environment, bt these units are pretty robust. Just make sure that there are not circuit breakers or powe strips between the two units and you should be fine.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • ok. I see. So basically, these devices are meant to be plugged into direct wall inputs, and NOT power strips, correct?

  • omg seriously this guy has no life but i do need a cheaper one of thoose things

  • GameCritic101,

That's a very interesting comment... what exactly is featured on your channel again? Peace, Fr. Robert

  • owned

  • cool WaIT i saw DID I JUST SEE A XBOX360 AT FIRST

  • i have a 360 up in the livin room and my computer down stairs do i just connect the gamenets to router and then the wall and just connect the other 1 to my 360 and the wall useing a ethernet cord?

  • DC610Smoke,

Yes --- I'm assuming that your computer is connected directly to your router. You would just connect one GameNET to the router and the other to your 360 -- VIOLA! Done! :) Peace, Fr. Robert

  • thanks man

  • Thanks a lot!!! the lightbulb didn't go off but I'm pretty sure that they're on the same circuit. If they are not, can you recommend anything else? thanks

  • Father Robert, I have a 360 in my basement, and my router is about 2 floors up. Its a netgear router, also my house is old. Do you know if this will cause any problems?

    Thanks

  • sculster08rcks,

It shouldn't be a problem unless the basement and the plug upstairs are on a different circuit. Here's a quick way to tell... find the breaker that shuts off the power to the basement plug you want to use. Now plug a light into the plug you want to use on the 2nd floor. If you throw the breaker for the basement plug and the light on the 2nd floor goes out, then they are on the same circuit.

  • Now that doesn't automatically mean that it will not work if the break trick doesn't turn off the light, but the more breakers the signal has to go through the more probably it is that it will not make it through.

  • Do i need a router computer and modem is upsarst 360 is downstairs

  • that only work for one year....

and it doesn´t have any filter against the power line noise...

  • o so then wat should i use instead got any ideas? thanks!

  • do u have any ideas on how i can get great online gaming? i have an xbox 360 and i have one router so got any ideas??i was thinking of a powerline adapter but idk=PPP

    thanks YOU if u respond!

  • Well the powerline adapter isn't really going to help you if you don't already have a good connection to the Internet. It may be fast, but if your ISP gets you laggy time back to the XBOX Live servers, all the greatest tech for you LAN isn't going to help you.

  • thank you!

  • i have a router that transfers 54 mbps if i get a powerline adapter would it affect my mbps? im not good with technology help??

  • The powerline adapter doesn't really do anything to your router. It is simply a replacement for the physical ethernet cable that goes from one device to another. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • i have a tmobile router for my home phones, will the gamenet work with that

  • It will work with any router. It doesn't CARE what it's plugged into. If it provides Ethernet, this system can extend it.

  • I want to take my 360 and ps3 online. Could u find out which router wireless or not works with those?

  • It will work with any router. It simply acts as a replacement for a physcial cable between the router and the console.

  • I know but i want to use a wired connection because wireless has not worked for me. And dont u mean a "acts as a replacement for a physical cable for your pc and router"?

  • If you want to use it because wireless has not worked for you, then you don't even need to care about the router. You're not using the wireless radio, just the Ethernet ports on the router.

And I really did mean, "It simply acts as a replacement for a physical cable between the router and the console." -- After all, you WERE asking me about connecting your 360 and PS3. :) Peace, Fr. Robert

  • I actually have a router picked out but the summary said nouthing about online gaming and thats whats troubling me. it was a "Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router". will that work with a comcast cable modem?

  • It should work like a charm.

  • i hope you are right!

  • ONE MORE QUESTION THOUGH DO THOSE corinex ADAPTERS WORk WiTH WIDOWS VISTA or xp

  • The are OS agnostic. They don't care that computer or OS you are using. As long as it uses Ethernet, it's fine.

  • HEY i found another router called the "Linksys EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch" it ten more dollars but specificly says online gaming and its not wireless but help me out if im about to make a mistake i will regret!?!? plz

  • spiritBOmber, a dedicated "gaming router" will only really help you if your current Internet is congested because of network activity on YOUR side. What they will do is to enable a bunch of QoS (Quality of Service) rules that make sure that the packets containing your gaming date are prioritized on YOUR network. However, if it's your Internet conection itself that is slow or congested then such a router woudn't do much good at all.

  • WELL I ACTUALLY MEANT THAT it Said online gaming in ts description(among other things) unlike the last router we talked about! p.s u getting gears of war 2

  • BY the way what does a modem do?

  • A Modem is really a "MoDem" or a "Modulator/Demodulator" -- Back when we were all using analog phone lines to dialin into our favorite BBS, the computer needed a way to take a digital signal, modulate it, transmit it over an analog line, and demodulate it on the other end back to a digital signal.

DSL and Cable "Modems" aren't really modems anymore since they usually operate with all-digital signaling, but the name has stuck.

  • is their other adapters like these ones that are cheaper but have cymilat power because 130 bucks is a little too much for me to pay and where in canada could i buy one withput ebay or amazon or paying on the internet?

  • hey that great, i love it man, but i dont agree with that price, i think the 130 is to much, 80 will be a good start

  • Are you asking about a link aggregator? Something that can take multiple WAN ports and combine them?

  • yup!

  • You'll need to use A router in order to connect to the Internet, but if you have no wireless devices active you could just turn off the wireless functions on the router. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • if you're going to use it for your PS3 then it should provide more than enough bandwidth for your console.

  • burning,

It's not an Internet device. You COULD use it to connect you to the Internet, but you still need a provider on the other side of the line. Think of it as a replacement for a Cat5 Ethernet cable... only this goes though the existing cabling in the walls of your home/office. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • what kinds of stores can u get these in?

  • where do you get it (not online of course) where in stores

  • how must do they cost?

  • i found something like that on the bestbuy website, but its $80. its the Sling Media - SlingLink Turbo PowerLine A/V Ethernet Adapter Kit. is it worth it?

  • well it depends....if one adapter isnt on the same circuit the speed may suffer or may not work at all...not to mention if there is a power surge...your device thats connected to it will be fried...or if your wiring is very old..you may be better off with wireless

  • hey can someone help me I'm getting an xbox 360 in a few weeks and I really want xbox live but my wired router only has one ethernet port and the ethernet cable is already is connected into the computer.

    1. What does the ethernet cord do?

    2. Can I just unplug it and put another one into my xbox 360?

  • you need an ethernet hub or switch or a router.

you have a dsl modem or a cable modem.

so connect an ethernet cable from the modem to a hub/router/switch and connect one ethernet cable to the computer and one to the xbox

  • First time here so hope someone can help ,I have a Corenex system set up to get a wireless router closer to my laptop this gives me a much better signal without running a cat5 wire to the laptop The only problem i have is i cannot print from the laptop is there a way to fix this Thanks

  • I'm confinced that tis is great, but can someone tell me if thet have theses things R in stores i'm not much of a online shopper. If they have some name brand sponsers i would B more confinced 2 by this.

  • No need for one but pretty cool!

  • actually its pretty usefull if u have xbox 360 in a seperate room then your router

  • hey peope im very confused!!

so when you connect this to your power cord thing you will get free internet???

    please somebody explain

  • no, you will still have to purchase your internet. but i think it's something like ... your DSL/cable modem plugs into one of the adapters.

  • o0 ok

  • thats so old technology, i had that last year!

  • but it's cheaper now!

  • My father had a pair that was the "radio shack" brand they were very expensive and they didn't work when you had things like a vacuum cleaner, microwave, ect running.

  • ok... so they just added a second floor to my house n i was worried that my router would not signal all the way to the top... but now i found a perfect solution!~!!!!! :) thanx!!

  • Wow, this is awesome. i can't wait to pick up one of these gadget's. Thanks UBER GEEKS!!!!!

  • Another great review on a very cool product! Thank you so much!

  • Thanks snowbalrog... it's appreciated! :)

  • Hi father, could I suggest you broadcast in HD ?

  • thanhluan001,

Thanks for the comment! I would love to shoot in HD, but currently it's not feasible for us. We are still a very small outfit and I am very wary of taking on show sponsors (as opposed to production sponsors) -- We just added Google ads to our site (reluctantly) and hopefully we will be saving up enough cash to upgrade our production gear, pay for the delivery bandwidth for HD, and perhaps finally be able to have giveaways for all our loyal viewers! Peace, Fr. Robert

  • Great video, You could become a youtube partner to get extra revenue. I have used a product similar to this on one and it was terrible. I might try this one.

  • I received an invite to become a YouTube partner about 2 months ago, but I'm very hesitant to have ads show up OVER the vids... I'm not sure if I want to go that far just yet....

  • I became one, it dosnt go all over the video, You can have it just on the side.

  • Very cool.

  • Cool
