This is some real fine stuff here, my friends. Glad to see it -- never knew it existed. Saw the group live in VA when it was still operating, but never saw any video... thanks!
They recorded John Hiatt's Bring the Family in '87 then came together as Little Village for one album. I saw them live at the Orpheum in Boston in '92. One of the best concerts I've ever witnessed.
Wow, that amazing sound they got on the album wasn't studio wizardry - they could really do it live! I've still got the CD. Don't know much about Lowe. Does he always sing that way or is he just trying to sound like Hiatt? Cooder, Hiatt and Keltner have been favorites for a long long time. Viva la Little Village!
A belated reply: ... Lowe's profile may not be so high in the US, but he's a top man. Among many claims to fame: Produced Elvis Costello's 1st 5 albums; married Carlene Carter; wrote "What's So Funny bout Peace, Love & Understanding" (Bodyguard Soundtrack version by - um - Kenny G), Cruel to be Kind (played by the band at the start of 10 Things I Hate About You), I Knew the Bride ... check out Jesus of Cool.

Hell Yes!! These guys are just Machismo!! pure and simple groove masters!! Keltner you are such a Mother on the drums! wish I had your feel man!! Does Ry Cooder ever look old? the guy kicks some serious Ass!! please do another record!! please!!
I use to have a clip of Little Village on Letterman doing Solar Sex Panel. I will have to see if I can find it. This band was great. Thanks for posting
This is legendary good stuff!! Too bad that this isn't put out on DVD by New West, they seem to do so for a lot of good material from Austin City Limits. Why not this concert? I seem to remember an even better video for "She Runs Hot" but this disappeared from YouTube. A shame.
Yeah, we use that line all the time. "It's a small town. Little village, motherfucker!"

I must be sick, but this is my favorite CD...who was this again?
DoowahDiatribe 4 years ago
I think Ry is so cool on this..I like the CD though, when they start rappin at the end "hey, it's a lil villiage MF" and so forth...HA!
DoowahDiatribe 4 years ago
Actually, and this is pretty cool.....that back and forth with the sound booth is a sample from Sonny Boy Williamson's tune "Little Villiage".....
"You can call it yer mammy if you want.....it's a small town....."
That still makes me laugh.....

Still makes me laugh, too - a big reason I like all these guys...Such stellar musicianship, showmanship and in yer face humor is so hard to beat!
