saying warcraft is easier is like saying football is easier than tennis. although it may be true that running on a lawn with a ball at your foot is easier than hitting a ball into a field over a net having it bounce on your side only once, a game is only as easy as your opponent makes it for you.
although football may appear easy compared to tennis as warcraft in comparison to starcraft it really is not.
@MWcrazyhorse The biggest problem with that is: Football and tennis are nothing a like at all, where as SC and WC have the same over-all idea. Only specifics are different.
Also, SC has much more room for error, and has a lot of features that make it easier to micro and control, where as SC requires you to manually do everything, such as harvesting.
I won't say "it's easier" I'll jus' say that SC requires more concetration and percision, where WC doesn't.
@RyuLoki you fail to realise what warcraft micro is. it is unit preservation above all. the macro is just a sideshow. it is intended such. the micro is battle micro. this means surrounds, blocks, pathing and dancing mainly. you only have dancing in starcraft. the sc battle micro compared to warcraft is simple. in sc macro>battle micro. the games are different. warcraft isn't trying to be starcraft. but yes if all koreans had been playing wcr instead that would have meant real trouble.
@MWcrazyhorse well of course, that is common sense but because of its popularity, there's no way I can be nearly as successful in SC than I can be in WC, there's always been more people playing it for way longer and laying the knowledge of the game... also training for 10-14 hours a day makes their micro unbeatable. It's way harder to be someone in SC.
@sinekonata well the argument of training is wrong because there is no difference between warcraft and starcraft pros. both train 10-14 hours every day.
and since you do not know this I suspect you would be surprised to learn how many ppl play warcraft. in Korea starcraft is still more popular, but in europe Warcraft is, and no Korean has ever won the world cyber games in WC3 for instance.
But Starcraft 2 will see a new conjoining of Starcraft and Warcraft players. That will be interesting.
@MWcrazyhorse I doesn't look like korea is behind at all in WC3 pro scene moon is 5 times world champion :S
And China looks to be biggest fan base atm...
Finally, even if WC3 progamers might train 10-14 h/day you simply can't say there is no difference between SC and WC pros, that's nonsense there is no channel that casts and sponsors WC pro scene...
@sinekonata what does china have to do with korea? lol. they all look the same to you doesn't qualify as an argument btw. and the WCG is the pinnacle of e-sports. Moon is one of the very best without doubt. WCR pros have sponsors too ofcourse. europe has caught up in e-sports in the past years, but it is wise to just leave starcraft to the koreans, they play sc nearly exclusively.
expect the challenge to come for sc2. we will see then. you really think korea will stick with starcraft classic?
what I meant is that china is the biggest fan base atm, bigger than in any european country... where did you get that they looked all the same to me?
I don't think that the WCG is the best simply cause they don't select the best players in every game, if that was the case there would be only koreans in the SC section...
But I agree that Europe is pretty strong in pretty much every game the WCG...
I don't think korea will transition to SC2, I might be really really wrong: 60/40
@uniquehand: Starcraft is in Korea a big Sportsevent like Soccer in Europe or Baseball in the USA. The players have sponsors and all stuff, like other sportsmen. And yes, it IS a sport. :)
