Just thought I'd point out that when you said "man is his own master" to some that would imply that men may be masters to other men, when it ought to be "the INDIVIDUAL man is his own master" anarchs will pick up on this and arguments tend to ensue, wording has always been important to us, as you no doubt know, much love brother :D
i'm currently reading a book on the healing qualities of the mind, and the author, Tulku Thondup talks about his experience in a Nyingma monastery, and it seems to me like he lived in a very libertarian environment.
from the stories i have heard about buddhism and buddhists, there are lots of things in common between buddhism and anarchism. i read a koan in which a monk slapped the king/emperor in the face (what a challenge to authority).
Great points. Buddhism is often thought of as a liberal religion, and some even interweave socialist ideas with Buddhist teachings. It's true that Buddhism teaches equality, non-violence, and concern for nature and living things, which all may be seen as liberal. But in the end, nowhere does Buddhism demand big government, raised taxes, or government-mandated redistribution of wealth. It's a religion of freedom, where we live how we see fit and reap what we sow.
i get so many ignorant comments from people who just do NOT understand, and think I am confused or a hypocrite of some sort. They do not understand the link between the 2. I so love this! thank you :) favd.
As an anarchist, I don't know if I find this more of a joke, or just pure offensive. It IS a common myth that anarchists are "all about violence", but that doesn't mean that we are diametrically opposed to it. There are very real oppressive conditions that we face and we can't just wish it all away.
I don't recall saying anarchists were diametrically opposed to violence. I really don't understand what you found offensive. Maybe you could explain. I have a feeling you misunderstood something.
How much violence and terror has been done by governments and authorities, only just because they can? Real anarchist is not violent, unless it's neccessary and self-defence.
That isn't privilege. Privilege is only that which one can get out of a system where others are oppressed and only a few benefit. Those who benefit are privileged. In a truly anarchist society, there would be no privilege because all people would be equal.
the word anarchism is almost useless at this point, libertarian socialism is a bit better.

Well, it all depends on what form of anarchism.

Good vid. I wonder if we should even use the term anarchism. Seems to me that most people's minds instantly close when they hear it.

I'd agree, but I think they do it more because they have to in order to maintain their privilege. Thanks for stopping by.
