if uv got time, climb the caher route. longer but easier goin than the ladder. then u can descend via beenkeragh n if u thinks its 2 risky, go back down the way u came up caher. knowing uv still climbed carrauntoohil.
we where planing in climbing carrauntoohil and a few more mountains in may...we where planing on camping out for 3 nights do you think it would be to hard to climb with a tent, sleep bag and food
the ladder and the gully's are steep and could be quite akward with heavy equipment. their more for people looking to get up and down the summit in 6 or 7 hours. you have time, so why try routes from the gap of dunloe or the horeshoe? gentler gradient, less akward, very few if anybody around, no erosion. checkout camping and routes in and around the gap of dunloe.
We were planning on going up Devil's Ladder but there was a rock slide recently and the guy in the tourist office in Killareny advised us to go the Caher Route.
